I can relate. I was in the same situation in my early 20′s. Exams, meds, check ups etc.. are expensive, especially for serious injuries. I found this website,

ihovyg is correct about pre-existing claims. I worked in a doctors office for 20 years and seen insurance companies deny people treatment for pre-existing conditions.

If you are applying for health insurance as an individual, they will request all previous medical records and many insurance companies have something called pre-existing condition where they will not cover for any treatment to a pre-existing condition, illness or injury, however most group insurance policies would wave the pre-existing condition and will cover all related or non related claims, the best way to find out is to talk to your insurance agent and ask if the policy he/she is offering has any pre-existing clause in it, and don’t lie about your past medical history, once they find out the policy will be terminated for providing false information.
