Lose Weight Really Fast

March 31st, 2008 by jazzygirl liz
by jazzygirl liz

Being thing never used to be a problem for me. I loved being a petite blonde weighing in at 119 pounds and easily fitting into a size 6. I was even too small to give blood when I was in college. I didn’t weight enough!

The days of wearing the size 6 clothing have long since passed. I am still short, but overweight – by a good 30 or 40 pounds.

I really only have about 60 minutes a week in the gym, spread over 2 days. It is not enough to help me lose weight really fast. It will help, but it is not a really an aggressive weight loss plan. I continue to search for ways to help me balance my work life, and my family life, and still leave some time for myself.

I cannot nor would I want to engage in fasting, diet pills, or any unhealthy weight loss mechanism. I actually have to eat every few hours to keep my blood sugars balanced – so burning off more than I take in is often times a challenge as well. So how can I lose weight fast? I need to find a way to take the weight off and keep it off.

Some people make the mistake of cutting their calories too low. Not only is it ineffective because it slows down your metabolism, it is also not a tactic that I am capable of. I like food too much. I like to eat – period. So it would seem that the key is in what I eat, how often I eat, how many calories I’m bringing in, and how many calories I’m burning off.

Now, putting ideas and thoughts down on paper are one thing, but actually accomplishing it is a whole other ballgame. What can I do on a daily basis to help me lose weight really fast?

Its a known fact that increasing your muscle mass will increase your metablism. So adding muscle building activity is always a step in the right direction with any weight loss program.

The demands of my life do not allow me to live in a gym. It is difficult enough for me to get to the gym 2 days per week. Losing weight really fast is a real problem for me. Getting to the gym more than 2 days a week is a real problem for me – and I rarely have an hour to spend when I get to the gym. It is very discouraging. How can I lose weight really fast?

I was amazed to learn about Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst’s fat loss secret whereby no matter what we do to lose weight, it simply will not come off on its own. Find out the real reason you’re over weight and learn how you actually can lose weight really fast – safely and effectively.

Introduction to Acupuncture

March 31st, 2008 by Barry Friedmann
by Barry Friedmann

Acupuncture forms part of traditional Chinese medicine. It has been claimed that it is one of the oldest forms of healing throughout the world. Underneath acupuncture is the belief that a disruption in the flow of imbalances and qi within the forces of both yin and yang cause diseases to occur. A combination of herbs, massage, meditation and acupuncture are believed to restore the balance of yin-hang and the flow of qi and this helps the healing process. Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points of the body, which removes blockages in the flow of qi and therefore restores and maintains one’s health. In the United States, acupuncture is known to be an area of alternative medicine, and is not widely accepted as part of conventional medicine.

Because acupuncture is not always accepted as being part of traditional medicine, there are several points that we should consider about this treatment:

Asian people, specially Chinese, have used acupuncture for many thousands of years.

Scientists are currently studying the effectiveness of acupuncture for treating many conditions.

Not many complications arise due to acupuncture, although serious side effects can be created if the treatment is not performed by a person who is qualified.

Although acupuncture has existed in China and other Asian countries for several years, it has only been used in the United States since 1971. Since it was introduced, many people have chosen to use it for a multitude of conditions, including chronic pain, arthritis, post-surgical pain and migraines. Many people do not like the thought of needles being injected into them, but most are extremely happy with the benefits achieved from using acupuncture. Many people try acupuncture after all traditional medical procedures have failed to help them.

One should not be scared of acupuncture as long as you are treated by a qualified practitioner. Sometimes, practitioners do not follow proper safety procedures or people choose a practitioner who is not suitably qualified and this can lead to problems. Nobody would visit a medical doctor who was not properly qualified to treat you, and one should take the same care when choosing an acupuncture practitioner. In the United States, use of the needles is regulated by the FDA, and can even include a requirement for one time use.

By obtaining all necessary information about acupuncture and being careful to choose a practitioner that is suitably qualified, you will gain a better understanding and will be able to make a decision regarding the benefits it will provide you with. One should not choose a practitioner just on someone else’s recommendation – you should first conduct your own research.

3 Reasons Why People Fail To Lose Weight

March 31st, 2008 by Kaye Medalla
by Kaye Medalla

There are a lot of reasons why people are obese. And if you ask a dieter why he is overweight, he would probably refer food as the culprit. But there are far more important reasons that cause this “hidden” disease.

Of all the reasons that we fail to lose weight, why blame food? Food per se is not the problem. In reality, there are more important factors why we over indulge ourselves even though we know that we should not.

What Are The 3 Primary Factors Why We Fail To Lose Weight

1. People lack the motivation to lose weight. They gain the extra pounds because of eating more than what they need for energy or they are burning “too few” calories because of a slow metabolism. They know that they need to exercise to burn those calories but they are simply too lazy to do so.

To successfully lose weight, people have to realize that they need to develop a positive attitude towards exercise. I know it is not easy to remove the old habits, especially if we need to put some effort to it, but it’s the only way to a successful weight loss.

People need a powerful motivation to help them get up on their butt and sweat it out. Even though they know that benefits that they will get from losing weight, still they are just too lazy to shed off those pounds.

2. We fail to lose weight because of our eating habits. Sometimes we are just too busy and forget about lunch and eat only when we feel the hunger pangs. Then we indulge on food and this is the time that our insulin levels shoot up.

3. Negative emotions probably constitutes 95% of the reasons why people are overweight and why they overeat. These emotions push people to satisfy themselves and relieve such feelings through elemental satisfaction.

Anybody who wants to lose weight can overcome these problems and prevent it from keeping them achieving a healthy lifestyle if they find a diet plan that can fit the lifestyle that they are most comfortable with and without too much fuss. However, that idea is too good to be true. So, just keep in mind the important equation to achieve a healthy and fit life, motivation plus right diet plan equals weight loss.

Homeopathic Pain Relief, Does It Really Work

March 31st, 2008 by Dana Drewer
by Dana Drewer

How Effective Is the Homeopathic Pain Relief Before you find out how effective the homeopathic pain relief is, you need to know what exactly is homeopathy. Only after understanding the working concept of homeopathy would you be able to understand how it impacts pain and diseases in general.

What Is Homeopathy? Homeopathy is a very old method of treatment that uses a very different approach to diseases when compared to the regular medicinal treatment. In homeopathy the premise is that your body can fight all the diseases it is subjected to, provided it is helped along in the right direction. The homeopathic treatment uses a holistic approach that combines the physical, emotional and mental problems as one whole. This is why a homeopath needs to know in depth about your mental, physical and emotional well being before prescribing any treatment.

The main idea on which the homeopathic treatment is based on inspired from ’set a thief to catch a thief’. In so many words, homeopathy treats the diseases by adding the same substance that would give the existing symptoms, to the body in very small quantity, in the belief that the human body would be able to initiate self-healing with the help of such substance. The homeopath would aim to give you a substance that would copy as closely as possible your own symptoms.

What Happens With Homeopathic Pain Relief? Very often when under homeopathic treatment, you would find that your symptoms get worse before getting better. This shows that the homeopathic treatment is correct, so you should not stop it thinking it is aggravating the problem you already have. All homeopathic treatments are long term and hence require patience.

When it comes to homeopathic pain relief, you will find that this treatment is as fast as any analgesic tablet. While the homeopathic pain relief is fast, it is at same time totally bereft any side effects and this is why it is considered safe for everybody. This is why many people prefer using homeopathic pain relief to that prescribed by allopathic medicine which always has some unpleasant side effects.

There is something for every type of ailment and this is one alterative medication that works excellent with humans as with animals. There is a growing concern of using strong allopathic medicines for children, pregnant women and senior people; and the best alternative seems to be homeopathic treatment.

Homeopathy is excellent for all types of functional complaints such as headaches, anxiety bouts, insomnia, flu, etc. You can also use it to prevent surgery unless medical intervention is indicated instantly. Homeopathy is also recommended when regular treatment is too painful, inconvenient or when the results are not as good as expected.

There is still another advantage with the homeopathic pain relief as well as all treatments – it is very affordable which makes it easy for anyone to avail of it.

Adding Hoodia to Your Diet

March 30th, 2008 by Sadiqur Rahman
by Sadiqur Rahman

Hoodia gordonii is an African succulent that has been a substantial area of the San tribe’s diet for centuries. The San people, normally known as “bushmen,” have been chewing the stems of Hoodia gordonii to curtail hunger while on protracted trips.

There are many different kinds of Hoodia, but merely Hoodia gordonii has been shown to have appetite suppressant qualities. For this reason it is vital to halt that any product claiming to be Hoodia truly contains pure Hoodia and in particular Hoodia Gordonii rather than any original role.

Hoodia gordonii came to attention in 1996, when the diet of the San tribe was studied by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, or CSIR. While the CSIR were studying the different plants eaten by the San tribe, they stumbled across the hunger suppressing qualities of Hoodia gordonii.

Put merely, when Hoodia gordonii was added to the diet of animals, the animals lost weight. Testing continued and in 1997 CSIR was capable to see away exactly what it was that caused Hoodia gordonii to repress the appetite. They obtained a patent for this particle and licensed it to Phytopharm, who designated the particle P57.

The bushmen were not happy about the millions being made by Phytopharm, because they were not receiving a cent of compensation. After a lawsuit filed by Roger Chennells, the San people’s representation, CSIR and Phytopharm were required to compensate the bushmen for the Hoodia gordonii that never would have been discovered had it not been for them.

When purchasing any Hoodia diet supplement, be sure that the Hoodia is grown in Africa and that a portion of the proceeds goes to the San tribe. Hoodia grown anywhere else is not authentic Hoodia!

Although you can purchase supplements containing Hoodia gordonii, it is not available in its natural sort just yet. By 2008, Phytopharm hopes to release a series of nourishing products such as energy bars that transport pure Hoodia gordonii in it’s nearly basic sort.

BBC News correspondent Tom Mangold ate raw Hoodia in the wilds of Africa in 2003. He reported that after experiencing an expeditious sense of well-being, he lost all desire to eat for a protracted period of time. Such is the power of this new natural supplementation.

There are lots of products on the market that transport Hoodia gordonii. Simply adding Hoodia to a rational diet and exercise plan can greatly increase your chances of shedding unhealthy additional pounds.

What You Should Know To Ensure Good Plastic Surgery Results

March 30th, 2008 by Trina Rowde
by Trina Rowde

Plastic surgery is becoming the quick solution to cosmetic problems. Those who have the money would easily pay for such a procedure that promises so much. The truth is however, not every procedure is considered good plastic surgery. You may have to ask yourself a couple of questions to make sure that you get good plastic surgery.

Why do I want it?

Reconstructive surgery is always good plastic surgery because it can help you get back on track after a serious illness or an accident. Some people who may not need this kind of surgery volunteer for cosmetic plastic surgery instead to change the way they look. If you belong to this second category then it becomes more important to ask yourself why you want to get good plastic surgery.

Make sure that your decision to go under the knife is made and motivated by you yourself and not by anyone else. It is a bad idea to attempt to change your appearance through surgery simply because you want to please someone else. There is no guarantee that people will change their views of you after surgery.

Do I have realistic expectations?

Although the procedure may be successful, it is still possible that you don’t end up looking like how you imagined. Try paying more attention to your surgeon’s before and after photos. You should be able to realize through pictures that even the most expensive procedures can only improve someone’s appearance but not make her look like a super model. There is a big chance that there will even be some minor flaws with good plastic surgery.

Am I prepared to spend?

Plastic surgery today may be affordable, but it doesn’t necessarily mean cheap. You would have to spend thousands of dollars for the doctor’s fee alone and a few thousand more for miscellaneous expenses and other fees. You might consider paying for a cheap offer but cheap prices may not give you good plastic surgery. In fact, bargaining on plastic surgery might kill you. The best doctors and services are usually those that cost a lot.

Am I ready to face the consequences of bad surgery?

Even a good doctor can make mistakes sometimes and accidents really do happen even in good plastic surgery. Bad surgical work can lead to anything from an ultra ugly scar to a dislocated implant. It would be good if your surgeon has policies for post treatment. You should be ready though to spend just a little more to fix the error. In some rare cases, a mistake could lead to death or permanent disfigurement.

Do I have enough time to recover?

Recovery time varies from procedure to procedure. You should know if your kind of work will allow you minimum exertion or if your boss will give you a few days or weeks off for you to recover.

Surgeons say that most patients usually get back on their feet after a few days. Complete recovery however may take a couple of weeks or months. This may not be suitable for you if you are on the go or if your work requires a lot of lifting.

Do anti aging products work ?

March 30th, 2008 by Clare J Hubbard
by Clare J Hubbard

The use of anti-ageing skin care products these days is on the increase and all things considered it is perfectly natural; this is due primarily to the fact we are all living longer and want to continue looking younger as we age. This is achieved in beauty products by promoting the growth of connective tissue using the protein collagen which is the most abundant in the skin of all animals; almost 25 percent of the protein in skin is actually collagen. Collagen is a member of another family of substances that aid in reducing the signs of ageing. called antioxidants, they help flush out toxins from the body and help reduce the signs of aging.

You probably know many anti-oxidants by name, including vitamin C, the use of which is still, even now, hotly debated in the science and nutrition community. Vitamin C formulated skin care treatments suffer with a particular problem of oxidizing on contact with the air which causes a problem for users and manufacturers.

Many manufacturers now use alternative skin care treatments that still provide the same benefits but not the high manufacturing costs. These new anti-oxidant products are not quite as good as vitamin C although other naturally occurring compounds, vitamin E and lipoic acid can achieve the same effect.

Found in human blood, vitamin E is not only an antioxidant but is designed to increase the immune system’s resistance to disease and can also help ward off cancer. Lipoic acid is also an energy making component of the body, found in every cell, it can also help reduce the ageing process which affects the skin.

Other compounds called phytochemicals have proved to be beneficial in the formulation of anti-ageing skin care products; they are removed from various plants. Another benefit, like that of alpha-lipoic acid, is their ability to reduce the prevalence of certain cancers like prostate, colon and breast cancer.

For some time now it has also been known that the vitamins B5, B6 and B12 also have anti-ageing skin care properties. The use of anti-ageing skin care products is a huge scientific field to research and has far greater potential than just producing goods that reduce the visible signs of age.

There is no doubt that what has been learned so far is only a small part of the jigsaw puzzle but research is moving forward rapidly and it is only a matter of time before a new generation of products becomes available. The amount of research going on in this field will undoubtedly bring results in time, hopefully bringing down the cost of these anti-ageing skin care products in addition to increasing their reliability.

In some respects the real way ahead lies in our own hands as there are many things we can do to reduce the signs of ageing naturally. Simple things that can make a difference in slowing the signs of ageing; these include physical activity, restful sleep, maintaining good dietary habits and removing stress from your life.

How To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks – To Hide or Not To Hide?

March 30th, 2008 by Shauna Bradell
by Shauna Bradell

“How do I hide my stretch marks?” I get asked that question a lot lately. With summer coming up, more and more women (and men too) are starting to worry about showing off their bodies. Fear of somebody seeing those awful stretch marks has kept more than a few people fully clothed and anxious, instead of enjoying the beautiful weather around them. So what do I tell them? I tell them that stretch marks doesn’t have to be a nightmare, and I’m not one of those people saying “Celebrate your stretch marks!” Yeah, you try that while a dozen people are staring at your stomach…see how much you want to celebrate! What I tell them is this: Stretch marks aren’t permanent. They’re not gonna vanish before your eyes like a bad magic trick, but you can make them fade away with a little knowledge and some persistence.

Want to know the ironic part? The stretch marks we hate so much come from some of the activities we love to do, like eating, and even some of the activities we do to look good at the beach, like weightlifting. Imagine how depressed you have to be when you spend all this time lifting weights only to find out your newly acquired muscles came with some baggage – stretch marks. That’s why it’s important to help out our bodies as much as possible by eating and drinking the right kinds and quantities of food and drink. Eating and drinking the right stuff helps keep our skin “rubbery” aka elastic, which means no stretch marks.

I probably get ten or twenty emails a day asking me if I have any household remedies to get rid of stretch marks, so let me share a few here. These aren’t guaranteed, and their success rate depends on who you talk to. My mom swears by the olive oil way, but my mother-in-law and my sister both say she’s crazy…they say egg whites are the number one cure. I’ve also heard vitamin E creams, cocoa butter, shea butter, and jojoba…just to name a few. The secret to these homemade remedies is (a. a little luck or a prayer and (b. correct application. Aim for that period in time right after you bathe or shower…perfect time to get your skin to soak up the ingredients necessary to fight the battle against stretch marks.

A very common and probably the most used method of hiding stretch marks, is to apply sunless tanning products to the marks you need to hide. Yes, you read right, and it does work as a temporary solution. Tanning naturally just will not do it, stretch marks tend to evade the sun’s positive effects, and the marks stand out even more! Face powder and foundation is another useful concealing method a lot of women use to try and combat stretch marks temporarily. Anything which contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) is a good product to use on stretch marks while you fight the battle to hide them, AHA’s very gently strip the top layer of skin cells allowing new ones to come to the surface – the chances are, if you’re eating healthily and applying a good cream to increase the elasticity that a few layers down the good skin is going to arise and be victorious.

The Key To Success With Your Diet for 6 Pack Abs

March 30th, 2008 by Alan Bryan
by Alan Bryan

Are you struggling with your diet and quest for 6 pack abs? What you may not know is that a major cause of diet failure and belly fat loss may be tied directly to being too aggressive in your diet plan. That’s right, it is possible to be too aggressive with your diet and as a result your 6 pack abs may never come to fruition.

Your body has been trained over the years to function in the most efficient manner possible, given the inputs you give it every day. If you consume 2000 calories in a normal day, your body is optimized to operate assuming another 2000 calories will arrive the next day. Functions such as metabolism, heart rate, and fat storage are trained for this condition.

An important step in starting a weight loss plan and getting 6 pack abs is to not just jump right in to the diet on day one. This major reduction in caloric intake will have a major impact on your body. Not only will your body go into shock, but the amount of important fat burning fuels available will be reduced.

By immediately cutting your food consumption, your body will respond by thinking it is being attacked or under duress. In this situation, the fat stores that have been built up over time become more valuable, as they may be needed for survival. The result is that less fat is “released” to be used a fuel for the body, and proper weight loss is severely delayed.

For better results, plan your diet like you would other long term activities with milestones and a well laid out strategy. One possible idea is to start by reduced 1/10th of the total caloric reduction you are targeting and decrease by the same amount each week until you are at your target consumption level. Also, gradually build your exercise plan with the same concept – small increases in output over a period of time. Using the method, your body will react much more favorable to the change in conditions.

As with any diet, ensuring you still get enough vitamins, nutrients and other important elements is an important step. With today’s advanced medicine, there are countless drinks, pills and other supplements available for everyday use. Be sure to study and understand the effects of any supplement before you start taking it. As with any diet program, it is also advisable to talk to your family doctor before starting.

The Ugly Truth About Cellulite

March 30th, 2008 by Kay Brown
by Kay Brown

Cellulite has become one of the most hated female conditions in recent years especially amongst those who are generally slim; it is generally found in the lower half of the body. Most women carry excess fat in thighs and buttocks, but this problem is not confined just to the overweight; women who are naturally slim can also suffer with this unsightly problem.

You see as the collection of fats push against the connective tissue, it tends to cause the surface of the skin to dimple or pucker and visually look lumpy; giving you what is referred to as cellulite. After many years of research, scientists still cannot determine the exact reason for its formation or why some are affected more than others but there may be some connection between toxins that enter the body and how certain fat cells store them.

This problem usually comes naturally with aging and similar to wrinkles that form in the face, it is actually the result of lower levels of collagen and elastin in the skin. Whilst many would disagree, this condition is often referred to a hormone imbalance problem as men almost never have this happen to them.

Often the cellulite goes unnoticed and it is only when a person’s muscles are compressed or the skin is pinched that it can be seen and felt but women should not feel depressed about the problem as most suffer with it to a greater or lesser degree. Many factors can influence the buildup; ranging from the sex of the person to their age, genetic make-up, skin type and skin thickness, all have a part to play in its formation.

As the reasons for the formation are still a mystery, no complete treatment has been devised to rid the condition from people who suffer with is badly even though there are many creams that claim to rid someone of it. Some clinics specialize in the removal of cellulite simply apply deep massaging to puff up the skin and temporarily reduce the cellulites appearance.

Another technique used to remove the fat cells, but not that successfully, is liposuction which is used to remove excess fat in the body but a method called mesotherapy which injects chemicals into the fat cells is still too expensive for most people who desire it. These known remedies offer only temporary relief and are likewise not advisable as liposuction for example should only be used to remove deep fats and is not very effective in the removal of cellulite.

A number of cosmetic manufacturers claim their creams are an effective method of removing the fat cells but it would seem these are just a method of masking the condition making it less visible and so far no definitive treatment exists. The most successful regimes so far are to adopt regular exercise, a good nutritious low-fat diet plan and reduce extra weight where possible.

Water too is useful as it has the effect of flushing out toxins that accumulate and are thought to be partly responsible for the cellulite; in addition to this smokers are urged to quit or reduce their smoking which is an effective way for toxins to enter the body.

Discover How to Lower Cholesterol Naturally

March 29th, 2008 by JB Anthony
by JB Anthony

Cholesterol is a fatty substance or lipid in animal tissue and fat. It is not harmful when kept to a limit, since they help the body perform various vital functions like aiding in fat digestion, building and maintaining cell membranes, hormone synthesis, and manufacturing Vitamin D. Since they are important to the body, we will only have to lower cholesterol naturally, so we do not have too much or too less of it.

Our body has the natural ability to produce dietary cholesterol. However, we also get them from the food we eat such as dairy products, eggs, and meat. The body can manufacture two types of cholesterol-LDL, the bad cholesterol, and HDL, the good cholesterol.

If we take in too much cholesterol, our veins and arteries could be clogged up, and we will be in danger of contracting health problems like obesity and cardiovascular ailments.

- Bring Out the Ashtray

Cigarettes and cigarette smoke contain compounds that can oxidize cholesterol, which is dangerous. Smokers will need more antioxidants like B Complex vitamins nicotinic acid and nicotinamide to reduce their cravings for nicotine. It can not only lower cholesterol naturally, but it can also save your lungs from cancer.

- Diet Watch

Needless to say that since we get cholesterol from food, we therefore need to watch our diet and the food we eat.

Most doctors and nutritionists would recommend five servings of fruits and vegetables everyday, or a diet of 2/3 fruits and vegetables and 1/3 of all others. These fat-free alternatives are better for your health than processed snacks are.

Foods that help lower LDL and increase HDL levels at the same time are almonds, avocados, beans, chili peppers, fish, flax seed, garlic, oat bran, olive oil, onions, shiitake mushrooms.

- Exercise

Exercising is like hitting not just two but several birds with one stone. It is a no-cost solution to almost every problem like stress, depression, and obesity. Exercise promotes good health and physical fitness, which contributes a lot to keeping anyone in tune with the events of every day life.

If you exercise daily for even just a few minutes, it can already increase high-density lipoprotein levels (HDL) in your body. HDLs are known as good cholesterol. Along with a raised HDL level, you metabolic rate also increases, which makes you lose weight and shed off all those extra cholesterol.

- Try Red Yeast Rice

Pharmaceutical companies make statin drugs out of red yeast rice, so why not take it in its natural, chemical-free state. Red yeast rice stops cholesterol reaction from moving forward, slowing it down until it lowers.

There is no easy way to lower cholesterol naturally, unless you really work hard to do it. If you take prescription drugs, you will still need to be proactive to aid the process. You might as well do it the cheap and healthier way as mentioned above. Doctors, physicians, and nutritionists can help you in this area.

Effective Cellulite Treatments

March 29th, 2008 by Nicola Williams
by Nicola Williams

The bane of women’s lives worldwide, cellulite is pockets of trapped fat underneath the skin, giving skin a lumpy, dimpled appearance. It is not directly the result of weight gain as many people believe, but has many different causes, including genetics. Anti cellulite treatments are popular for getting rid of cellulite and can be very effective, although it is also important to address the causes of the problem.

Many women, in fact, most women, struggle with cellulite as they age. Doctors estimate that over 85% of women suffer from cellulite deposits in their buttocks, thighs, upper arms or stomach. Although it is more common in women over 35 it has been diagnosed in girls at 16 years of age. Some alternative cellulite treatments are designed to work with the developing girls bodies.

One alternative cellulite treatment is cellulite Ionithermie Reduction. This treatment alleges to get rid of cellulite by cleansing your body of accumulated and unwanted toxins and fats through massage of the lymphatic system. It also involves electric pads that massage parts of your body affected by the cellulite and the use of a clay mask on the affected areas.

Another alternative cellulite treatment that is available is the Synergie cellulite reduction, which uses an FDA approved machine for the reduction of cellulite in a non-invasive technique. In a recent study 100% of women who participated noted a loss of inches from their bodyies and 90% had visible improvements in the smoothness of their skin.

Maybe you would prefer a home alternative to treating your cellulite. There are many different treatments that can be used at home such as the use of particular herbs in cooking. Also there is the option of creating your own body wrap using coffee grounds and seaweed.

Body brushing is another way that you can treat your cellulite at home. Dry body brushing stimulates the lymphatic system and combined with drinking lots of water and eating healthily can be very effective in eliminating cellulite. Use a brush with natural bristles and brush the affected areas before showering to improve circulation.

Being overweight is not necessarily a cause of cellulite, in fact many thin people also sufferer from the dreaded ‘orange peel’ skin as well. However, if you are overweight, losing some weight can help to decrease the level of fat underneath the skin. Even some simple exercise such as a daily walk can help circulation and aid in weight loss.

Unfortunately are no easy ways to get rid of cellulite. Most are time consuming and don’t come cheap either. Often the best treatment for cellulite is improving your diet, getting regular exercise, and using a technique such as dry body brushing or massage.

Bad eating habits are a real issue that can cause diabetes, cancer, various heart problems and high blood pressure. The problem with many dieters is their attitude to a quick weight loss method and whether or not they understand that dieting is not a cure all for obesity.

All that said it has been shown that it is actually beneficial for the person using a weight loss program to be light-hearted about it as the mental attitude makes losing weight more likely. A positive attitude and open mind are very often the keys to improving life style and eliminating the bad habits. The great thing about weight loss is the extra energy you feel and how much more positive your outlook is to life in general which obviously has an impact on self-esteem as well.

Losing excess pounds using a quick weight loss program is as much about changing your mental attitude as it is your life style habits by reducing the amount you eat.

Acne And Diet Is Not The Main Cause

March 29th, 2008 by Allison Thompson
by Allison Thompson

On average 9 out of 10 people at some stage of their lives will suffer from the skin condition known as acne. Although some believe that acne and diet issues are the main cause for their suffering from this particular skin problem, this is not the case. Below we take a look at what causes acne and the ways in which it can be treated.

In fact even today we are still unsure of what actually causes a person to suffer from this form of skin condition. Although certainly doctors when treating a person with acne will take a number of different factors into consideration to provide them with the appropriate kind of treatment. Below we take a look at what the factors are.

1. Overactive Sebaceous Glands – These glands are located deep in a person’s skin and produce an oil known as sebum. However overtime hormonal changes take place in a person’s body and this will often result in these glands becoming enlarged and producing large amounts of oil. Because of this the pores of the skin find it very difficult to cope with these additional amounts of oil and so become blocked and the spots associated with acne begin to appear.

2. Skins Pores Become Blocked – As you will see from above one of the reasons that the pores on a person’s skin becomes blocked is that the serbaceous glands are producing to much oil. The problem is further exacerbated by the oil not actually being able to flow freely and ends up becoming trapped before it reaches the skins surface. The more oil that becomes trapped under the skins surface will push that in front of it up and zits and pimples then begin to appear on the skins surface.

3. Normal Skin Bacteria Activity – Even though acne does not actually develop because of a bacterial infection, it can actually play a major role in making the condition much worse. Normally our skin has a bacterium (known as Propionibacterium Acnes) on it, which helps to prevent harmful bacteria from getting into our skin. But when the pores of the skin become blocked this bacteria then produces chemicals, which cause the sebum oil our bodies produce to alter. This results in your skin becoming irritated and inflamed and which results in acne being present.

4. Inflammation Of The Skin – All the above causes can contribute quite easily to a person’s skin becoming inflamed. But another reason why a person is suffering from acne is that their immune system is trying to deal with a foreign substance, which could either be bacteria or the excess oil that the body has produced.

Above we have shown you what the main contributory factors for developing acne are, and as you can see although the wrong sort of diet can exacerbate the problem it is not the main cause. So along with making changes to your diet but there are also different types of treatments that you may want to consider trying as well.

There are products such as Zenmed Derma Cleanse System, Proactiv Solution and Murad which are very effective at helping to treat the condition over an long period of time. But if you want to try something a little more different and which will help to clear up your acne much more quickly it may be worth your while considering using the “Acne Free In 3 Days” program instead.

Yes the wrong sort of diet can certainly contribute towards a person suffering from acne, but other factors which we have mentioned above need to be taken into consideration also. When it does come to matter of acne and diet, just changing it won’t immediately provide you with the kinds of results you expect. To really see an improvement you need to use some other form of treatment as well.

High Blood Pressure: The Silent Threat

March 29th, 2008 by Fabian Toulouse
by Fabian Toulouse

A killer is threatening one third of the adults in this country, and one fourth of them are completely clueless. Over 73 million people over the age of twenty in the United States have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. Their arteries and blood vessels are rigidinflexible, creating more work for the heart as it pushes blood through the body. Undiagnosed or ignored, this killer stealthily works the heart harder and harder until it can no longer take the overload, and the end result can be a massive heart attack or stroke.

While a diagnosis of high blood pressure is scary, patients should realize that it is treatable. It does not have to be a death sentence. There area many ways of effectively managing high blood pressure. Many doctors prescribe manmade drugs, and these may do a fine job on treating symptoms. The cause, however, often remains untreated.

Many factors can result in the development of high blood pressure. Too much caffeine and alcohol have been linked to the disease. Overall eating habits are a big culprit, and obesity is definitely a cause. Fatty foods, red meat, too much salt, and too little nutrition can be a recipe for high blood pressure. Stress in your life plays a role, too. A difficult job, huge changes like marriage or a move. or very emotional triggers like a major disease or divorce can result in high blood pressure. Finally, the presence of diabetes is a large risk factor.

Changing your lifestyle to tackle these factors can help regulate blood pressure. And instead of depending upon prescription pills to treat symptoms, more and more people are testing out natural remedies. Knowing what foods nourish your heart and blood vessels can help you revive their flexibility and health.

As with any illness, you should not ignore high blood pressure. You should talk about it with your physician to create a plan to get your blood pressure lowered. Speak up honestly, and be proactive about your treatment. Do not be afraid to question the side effects of any pills you are prescribed or to suggest alternative supplements. After all, you both have an identical goal in sight: a healthier, happier you!

Acne: Fighting Acne In The 21st Century

March 29th, 2008 by Judith Allison
by Judith Allison

Acne, sometimes known as Zits, is a menace to people who suffer from this condition; although it undoubtedly causes distress, a number of topical remedies are available. Medical investigation and research is ongoing and making interesting discoveries; in fact many new remedies are proving very effective. For those people that require treatment, the acne skin care products required fall broadly into a number of categories including:

- Preventative: Creams, lotions etc. to help cleanse and tone the skin – Over-the-counter – Specialized, on-prescription acne products

Those that fall into the preventative category are based around general skin conditioning. For example, toners and skin cleansers that have been formulated to help prevent acne. We should all use products like this to maintain our skin and prevent future problems from occurring.

Some of these products are designed to act like an acne skin care product and act against the causes of this complaint. They work by limiting the production of sebum/oil and prevent clogging of skin pores. These types of products are reducing the chance of oil staying in the pores and aiding the growth of harmful bacteria which assists the formation of the skin condition.

This type of skin care treatment also includes those which exfoliate such as skin peels; most can even be purchased over the Internet in addition to normal outlets. Dead skin cells and other atmospheric pollutants are removed cleaning the pores which reduce the chance of any bacterial growth.

The growth of the skin care market has allowed even more specialized acne skin care products to be available without the need to visit the doctor. Most of these creams etc. are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and hence acne); they work by removing the excess oil from the skin and halt the growth of acne.

It is often a good idea to start with a product that has lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5 percent) to see how the skin responds; an alternative to this includes products which contain alpha hydroxy acid. As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin; however, if nothing you try seems to work, you should contact a dermatologist.

There are benefits of seeing your doctor or dermatologist, they can prescribe you with a prescription for treatments not available over the counter, for example a course of antibiotics. In some case your doctor may suggest the pustules are drained of harmful contents under local anesthetic; although this is a minor procedure, if it were performed by the person themselves it could result in skin damage.

Your doctor could prescribe a hormone-based treatment to treat your skin problem; studies show that hormone based skin care treatments often prove effective. Positive research means that a sufferer does not have to put up with this condition anymore.

Just What Are The Physical Symptoms Of An Anxiety Attack

March 28th, 2008 by Kerris Samson
by Kerris Samson

There are lots of people today who have experienced an anxiety attack and so are then quickly able to recognize the physical signs of an anxiety attack in the future. The main symptoms associated with such attacks are heavy breathing, pains to the chest, the bodies extremities become numb and their body shakes uncontrollably. Although quite a few people will suffer all the symptoms we have mentioend, there are plenty of others when an attack takes place will only suffer from one or two of them.

When someone is suffering an anxiety attack for the first time they will often reach for the phone to call for an ambulance as they feel that they may be having a heart attack. But even when they reach hospital and have been told what the problem is they often find that being in a hospital environment helps them to cope and deal with the attack much more easily. Yet for those who suffer from chronic anxiety they will have been shown ways in which they can actually alleviate the symptoms associated with this disorder themselves.

It is believed that a full anxiety attack is related to the ‘fight or flight’ survival response found in all members of the animal kingdom, including humans. This response is thought to have been responsible for the continued survival of the human race, as it includes a rush of adrenaline, ultra sensitivity to surroundings, and a general aggressiveness. An anxiety attack occurs when this instinctual response is triggered without any obvious cause.

In studies carried out it has been shown that people who suffer from repeated attacks increase their chances of suffering either a heart attack or stroke in the future. But those who only suffer one attack and there is no history of any kind of anxiety disorder in their family are unlikely to suffer any heart problems or have to deal with any lasting effects.

However, what is unclear is what risk is posed to the person who regularly suffers an attack or is just related to them. There are some medical professionals who will argue that the medication one is prescribed for anxiety or panic attacks could also put a person a risk of suffering heart problems. But what one must note that either way if you are regularly having to deal with any kind of anxiety attack this is a clear sign that you have other problems which also need to be dealt with along with the symptoms.

Dealing with any kind of anxiety of panic attack is not always that easy especially if they are severe. Although your doctor may be able to treat the symptoms effectively, often it needs other ways to help a person find and then deal with the underlying causes of an attack. Today, there are various different types of therapy available which are proving effective at helping to treat the actual causes. Of all the different types one that seems to be extremely effective is cognitive behavorial therapy which helps a person to recognize what is triggering the attack and then work on ways to change the way in which they react to it and so prevent an attack from happening.

Quite a few people will use deep breathing exercises or other kinds of relaxation techniques for helping to bring the physical symptoms of an anxiety attack under control. Along with these exercises and techniques they may also under take massage or aromatherapy and some people will use them in conjunction with acupuncture treatment. But no matter what any one else thinks, it is important that when treating the physical symptoms associated with these kinds of attacks is not just a case of a person trying to think more positively.

Anxiety is a real medical condition and must be treated as such. Hopefully, with careful attention, anyone can beat the crippling effects of anxiety.

Using Green Tea for Weight Loss

March 28th, 2008 by Steven Weiss
by Steven Weiss

Uses of green tea are still being explored by medical science in research that may take many years; it is used in on its own and in dietary supplements as an antioxidant.

It is possibly to buy green tea weight loss products from most health shops as a liquid extract to be drunk as ordinary tea or pill form; both will help burn calories.

Green Tea can also help slow the signs of aging by helping to speed up the regenerative functions of the cells. In addition to weight loss functions it shows some amazing qualities like helping the metabolism by ridding the system of toxins and using the natural laxative quality it possesses. The product increases the metabolic rate and the number of calories burnt so less fatty tissue forms.

Despite the success of green tea weight loss products, they cannot work on their own so the user must be responsible for what food they eat and any exercise they perform. For it to work, adjustments to diet and mental attitude are necessary for a person to become healthier, it is not just a case of losing weight.

Although green tea can be used at any time of the day and in many ways as a beverage, it is most effective when taken immediately before bed. There is generally an acclimatization period of a couple of days when using this product, during which time the user may feel some stomach and bowel discomfort but it shouldn’t take too long before this vanishes.

Green tea weight loss effects are normal, particularly if you haven’t used the plant before as the body adjusts to the accelerated metabolism that eliminates the toxins much faster, before they pass into the blood. Providing you stick to your diet which would include exercise, an increase in fluids and vegetables you will see benefits within seven days of starting your diet.

Sometimes you will find ginseng is mixed with green tea to improve its properties and effectiveness. The ginseng extracts add essential vitamins and supplements to the products and have been used in china for millennia.

Getting back to a normal weight can be stressful but the addition of ginseng to the green tea helps provide extra energy and fortification by assisting the body’s own immune system. Although safe to use, ginseng and green tea are not normally used for periods beyond six months at a time.

Maintain Your Natural Weight

March 28th, 2008 by Ron Cripps
by Ron Cripps

Natural weight loss means lowering your daily calorie intake while increasing the amount of calories you burn through exercise; few ever listen to this suggestion. If it were that simple, which it should be, most slimming companies would be out of business; a third of overweight Americans and millions globally, would disagree with this advice. Despite this, most of these overweight people want to be trim again although it is probably more for cosmetic reasons than those related to their health.

The hard thing for people to understand is it is easier to maintain your natural weight than loose extra pounds once you have put them on. Nevertheless weight maintenance is something that has to be worked on and planned otherwise we will put on extra pounds.

For some reason even when dieters who have become used to, and enjoy, a low calorie diet, they eventually drift back to old habits and start piling the pounds back on again. Natural weight loss is possible though and it can be done before you get stared at in the street or cause others problems because of your weight.

Most health experts contend that the significance of excess weight is more than cosmetic as it takes a huge toll on a person’s physical health. If you think about it, losing excess weight by natural methods is the most acceptable way to get rid of those extra pounds but too many people want a ‘quick fix’ system.

Some people worry about what foods they will eat on a natural weight loss program but it is just a case of having a combination of, protein, carbohydrate and fiber. A typical meal like this would be a jacket potato with vegetables and some lean meat, which would be healthy and give the balance you require.

Health experts say that dietary fat promotes weight gain because it is a very dense source of calories and you store those calories as body fat easier than calories from other sources. Manufacturers have realized that there is a huge market for low-fat or even fat-free products but the propensity and popularity of these foods are not lowering the average weight of the nation.

The weight a person puts on isn’t always as a result of high fat foods, although they obviously do not help, but a result of too many calories turning into body fat. The term fat-free can be a trap if you start to believe that you can eat any amount of fat-free food when it is far better to respond to hunger with healthy snacks.

It is believed in some circles that a natural method of weight loss is to eat less but more often without actually missing meals, which can get you into bad habits. When combined with regular exercise, this natural weight loss plan offers a way to lose unwanted pounds in the long run.

Is There a Remedy for my Cellulite?

March 28th, 2008 by Rinzel Aguire
by Rinzel Aguire

Cellulite is the condition where the skin appears to have that orange peel affect in certain areas; predominantly accumulating in areas below the waist. Most women carry excess fat in thighs and buttocks, but this problem is not confined just to the overweight; the lumpy substance that looks more like cottage cheese beneath the skin can affect slim, even sporting women as well.

Cellulite forms just below the surface of the skin in the thighs and buttocks region, where areas of fat collect and force themselves against the tissue creating a puckered look to the surface of the skin. The real cause of is unknown so is the reasons why some women are more prone to suffering with it than others but scientists believe that it could be due to the way the cells are structured beneath the skin of each individual.

This problem usually comes naturally with aging and similar to wrinkles that form in the face, it is actually the result of lower levels of collagen and elastin in the skin. It is normally classified as a problem caused by hormones and is why men rarely suffer with the condition as fat in their bodies is consistent throughout.

The presence of cellulite is not always prominent, unless one tries to pinch the upper skin of one’s thigh; should it feel lumpy then you most certainly have it but a woman should not feel bad about having it, since most have this condition to a certain degree. After a great deal of research, certain conditions do help with the formation and retention of the fat cells; the age of the person, their gender, how thick their skin is and the amount of extra fat they carry, all play a part.

As medical science cannot prove conclusively what causes the problem, it makes it difficult creating a cure even though a number have been tried including special burning creams. Massage has been found to help hide the indications of cellulite even though it cannot remove it; but is does reduce it’s visibility for a temporary period and is available from some beauty clinics.

Another technique used to remove the fat cells, but not that successfully, is liposuction which is used to remove excess fat in the body but a method called mesotherapy which injects chemicals into the fat cells is still too expensive for most people who desire it. However, these are only temporary measures so do not provide permanent relief and liposuction is really only efficient for deeper based fats and not those close to the surface as with cellulite.

There isn’t one single therapy or treatment that can rid someone of these fat deposits and even special burning creams provide dubious results; however the most recent creams available seem to just hide the effects or offer a temporary fix. Many people believe that the only realistic way to reduce the amount of fatty tissue a person has is to follow a controlled diet plan and exercise regularly which will gradually burn off much of the body fat including that found in the tissues of the thighs and buttocks.

In addition, increasing the intake of water will help cleanse the system and flush out damaging toxins plus smokers should stop smoking or at least reduce it which will also be beneficial as smoking impacts negatively on the capillaries in the skin and reducing stress will help reduce cellulite.

Unfortunately the Food and Drug Administration does not regulate the sale, packaging, or even efficacy of herbal remedies. Despite the fact that the FDA does not regulate clinical trials for herbal remedies, there are several time-tested and proven natural anxiety cures.

One herbal remedy which has been found to be effective in not just treating anxiety but also sleeping disorders such as insomnia is Valerian Root. This particular herb contains properties which help a person to relax and comes either in capsule or tincture form. Normally one can get the capsules in sizes from 50 milligram up to 500 milligram and how much one takes will depend on the severity of their condition. Along with helping a person to relax the properties in Valerian Root also help in reducing a person’s stress levels therefore reducing the chances of an anxiety attack occurring.

There are many other medications which one can take for treating anxiety but often it will take some time before a person actually sees any positive results or effects on them. However, people who take Valerian Root often find that in some cases it has an immediate effect on the way that they feel. But for most people who take this form of herbal remedy they will not actually see any positive results until about 1/2 hour to an hour after they first took it.

It is important that before you purchase any hebal remedy for treating your anxiety you read the products label very carefully. You need to especially place close attention to what ingredients have been used in it. If you can look for those that include passion fruit flower extract in them. Contained within this extract is a chemical known as vitexin and this contains properties that can help to relieve tension. But as well as this property the vitexin also has anti-inflammatory and anti-histamic properties.

Of all the natural anxiety cures now available this is one that is widely available. However, if you are having difficulty in getting supplies from your local health food store then there are plenty of places where you will be able to purchase it online.

Before setting up your home laboratory and cooking your own proprietary blends, consult a doctor. Some herbal remedies have ingredients that not everyone can digest. If you are unable to digest all the ingredients of Valerian, it may cause night terrors, and abdominal pain.

Before you start using any kind of herbal based remedy for treating anxiety speak with your doctor to find out just how safe they are. Also you need to find out from your doctor that if you choose to take these along with any other medication that you are currently taking what affect they may have on them. Finally, it is crucial that when choosing any kinds of natural anxiety cures to use to treat your condition you look carefully at the ingredients each one contains. Plus you look just how much of each ingredient they contain as this will effect just how effective they are at treating the condition.

How To Lose Weight With Diet Shakes

March 28th, 2008 by Marie Wilson
by Marie Wilson

Anything you can incorporate into your diet that gives you more control over what you eat is a good step. Moreover, one of the huge benefits of dieting is that we learn how to take charge of our food consumption rather than just let it run away with us. Making your own diet shakes is just one of several ways to take control in a fun and tasty way and to stay on the diet as you do so.

Diet shakes are not new to the diet process and the big money diet programs make millions selling diet shakes in cans to people who don’t think they can make them at home. But canned diet shakes are not the best possible way to include this great diet method into your program for two reasons. The first reason is that if you can learn to make your own shakes from fresh fruits and vegetables, you know you are getting all good food and no preservatives or sugars and additives at all. The second reason is that anything mass produced like pre-packaged diet shakes is not going to be as good for you as home made foods and they will have unhealthy ingredients mixed in with the healthy ones.

The only real “equipment” you need to make your own diet shakes is a blender, which you probably already have. With a good blender ready to go, you just have to decide what to use as the base of your shake and then what to add to it for good taste and to get your food value from the shake. For your base, the three choices most people start from is to make a dairy shake, a fruit based shake or a vegetable based shake.

A dairy based diet shake is just that. It is built on a solid diet dairy product. Of course, if you are lactose intolerant, this base is out. But don’t substitute soy or some other dairy replacement for a good 2% level of milk to use as a base for your shake. And since milk is such a hospitable substance, you have a lot of variety with the ingredients you add to the shake to keep them tasty and interesting.

For a shake that is full of core vitamins and is so rich and healthy it can actually be lunch or dinner, you can’t beat a good vegetable diet shake. The commercial brand V8 gives us the pattern for a good vegetable shake recipe. If you like V8 you can start with a tomato base and then add in other vegetable blends and spices to make some really exciting shakes for your diet meal time. One thing to watch out for is to avoid any vegetable juice that might be hard for you to digest because many vegetables get a little hard on the digestive track in juice form.

Fruit based diet shakes are a cool way to get that sweet tooth satisfied and never fall off of your diet. For best diet results, start with raw fruit and liquefy it in the blender so you don’t lose any of the nutrition. A fruit diet smoothie is a wonderful way to start the day or a nice evening snack that is healthy as well as very tasty.

These various starting places give you the start of a great shake that you can enhance and make better. Let your imagination get involved and don’t hold back because adding variety is the key to staying on your diet and lose some real weight. For example, peanut butter not only adds lots of taste, it contributes valuable protein to a diet drink. A great tasting diet shake is also a great way to mix in any powdered food supplements or vitamins that go right down with the drink so you never knew you were consuming what is good for you.

It’s fun to make diet shakes and adding something you enjoy to your diet can make it whole lot easier to get through a tough diet. It’s also fun to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. So by using fresh foods in your shakes, you not only are saving money but getting the most food value from the drink. You can just focus on how great the shake tastes and let all that good stuff in it help your body lose the pounds. And a side benefit is the healthy ingredients will help your body fight off colds and flues and other diseases as well. So from one great tasting drink, you stay healthy, have more energy and you are having more fun and losing weight so pretty soon you look great too.

Below we offer you a number of different very simple ways along with a basic recipe for your to make your own salad vinaigrette dressing in a matter of minutes.

When it comes to making, a very basic vinaigrette to dress your salad with you can use either a blender, food processor, whisk or a jar to mix the ingredients up in. But you first need to get the ingredients together. Generally, a very simple vinaigrette is made up of 1 part vinegar to two parts oil, plus any herbs or spices that you wish to include in to the dressing.

If you want to make a very quick vinaigrette to go with a salad then the best way to do this is by using a blender or food processor. Once you have the ingredients together, first pour the vinegar (1 part) into the machine and then to this add spices and herbs to taste and blend together well. Next whilst the machine is still running you begin to slowly pour in the oil (2 parts) until it has all gone and the mixture has been combined together.

However if you have a little more time on your hands then you could whisk up the ingredients together instead. In to a bowl place the vinegar along with spices and herbs and then very gently whisk these together. Once you feel that these have been well mixed together you should now start to include the oil again as with making the vinaigrette using a blender or processor you should pour the oil in very slowly. Whilst pouring in the oil you also need to continue whisking the ingredients together. It is probably better using an electric whisk rather than trying to make it using a hand one.

However probably the easiest way you can make a very basic vinaigrette to dress your salad with is through using a jar (clean one of course). Into the jar (which should have a screw on lid) put the vinegar with the herbs or spices. Then screw on the lid and then shake the jar vigorously until everything has been mixed together. Now next you need to start adding the oil. Do this a couple of tablespoons at the time and each time you do this replace the lid and then shake the jar vigorously and do this until all the oil has been added and the ingredients have been combined together.

For you to be able to make a very simple and basic vinaigrette dressing you need to get the following ingredients together.

1. 200ml of Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2. 100ml of Balsamic Vinegar 3. 3 Gloves of Garlic which have been pressed 4. 1 tspn Oregano (if you can use fresh rather than dried) 5. 1/4 tspn Rosemary (again fresh is better as it needs to be crushed before being added to the vinegar. But if you can not get any of it fresh than dried rosemary will be adequate).

Now you have the above ingredients together you just need to combine them and this can easily be done using one of the methods that we have mentioned previously in this article. You will find that it will only take around 5 minutes to produce a great tasting salad vinaigrette dressing that will provide your meal with a little bit more. Also as long as any you have left over is kept in a jar in the refrigerator it can be used again for a further two weeks.

How To Buy Used Golf Clubs

March 27th, 2008 by James Beckett
by James Beckett

Many times people who are just getting started in the game of Golf become as absorbed in a buying spree as they are in learning to play the game well. The urge to run out and buy professional caliber golf clubs is strong as though owning expensive and high quality clubs will make you a great golfer. But for most new golfers, buying used golf clubs is a smarter move.

Buying used clubs reduces the financial impact of getting into golf. You can continue to experiment with the game to see if you are going to be a lifelong golfer or if this is just a temporary fixation that will pass. And if you do cool on playing golf, your investment isn’t so huge and you can pass the clubs along to the next new golfer to give the game a try. Maybe more importantly, as you learn how to play golf, you will get a better feel for what is important in buying the golf clubs that will be your long term set and then when you make that larger investment, you know what you are doing.

Even if you do decide that it’s smart to go the used club route, it’s even smarter to not buy in the first few weeks or months of learning to play gulf but to rent clubs at first. You can work out a deal with your favorite golf shop to rent the same set for several weeks so you can get used to them. This way you can focus on learning golf along with what you like and don’t like about how your rental clubs work for you. A side benefit is that by establishing a relationship with the rental shop you like, they can let you know when they are putting used golf club sets on sale and you can get a bargain.

Just because you are going to buy a used set of golf clubs doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get some sage advice about how to shop for good clubs. A set of clubs that is not a good fit to your body and to how you play the game will be a nightmare for you and could ruin your love of the game that is so important especially when you are just starting out. So turn to professionals who know how to evaluate clubs to give you a checklist of what to look for when you are checking out a used set you might want to buy. You will feel so much better about writing that check if you have put the clubs under some scrutiny.

A hands on shopping experience when looking even for used clubs is crucial because how the clubs feel when you test swing them is very important for that purchase decision. That is why when you are in golf shops, you always see people who know what they are doing using the clubs and trying out a putt or a swing with them to get that feel for how they would serve on the golf course. But the first order of business for you as a rookie golfer is to know how they should feel in your hands in the first place. When you hold the club for a drive or a putt, it should be a comfortable fit to your grip and your size and you should not feel strange or uncomfortable in your hands. This is the value of renting clubs because you can understand what feels right and what doesn’t.

The quality of materials in a good set of golf clubs will make or break your game. The heads of a good set of used clubs should be stainless steel and not an alloy that will not perform well in play. Good designs for golf clubs especially at the beginner level are what is called perimeter weighted clubs, cavity backed clubs which means they are hollow near the back of the club or clubs with larger or oversized heads. Buying clubs with larger heads gives you a bigger striking surface which means more of your shots will perform well as you learn the game. Then once you are accomplished at golf, you can buy conventional sized golf clubs to use long term.

Obviously other parts of the club like the shaft and the grip are important to your game as well. The club should feel light and comfortable in your hands and the shaft is a big part of that balance. Graphite makes a good golf club shaft material for this reason. But when you are evaluating used clubs, you will be naturally drawn to look at the grip because how you hold the club is so important to a good shot. Don’t panic if the grips are a bit worn out on the used clubs you like because that can be easily repaired and made good as new for you. By evaluating all of these parts of the club as a unit, you can decide if this is the set of starter clubs you want to buy.

This process of buying gold clubs for the first time can be overwhelming and fun at the same time. But by doing some homework up front as we have discussed, you will go into the process knowing what you are doing. Be patient and “test drive” each club in the set and if you look them over well, your gut instincts will help you make the right decision about whether this is the right set for your starter golf clubs or if the search should continue.

There are many different people in the world who are battling with their stretch marks. If you have some, know that you’re one of many who want to be rid of stretch marks forever. When you get to that point it can be comforting to know that stretch marks lotion can work wonders for you.

In fact, you should probably start using some of this lotion even if you don’t have any stretch marks of your own. Did your parents or grandparents have them?

If they had them, then it’s fair to say that you will probably have them too. If you use a stretch marks lotion, you can help prevent that and help your skin deal with any stretching or growing.

It is especially important to use this lotion if you are pregnant. Be careful though, your baby is the number one concern; so make sure that you’re using products that are safe for developing fetus and your newborn baby. Always check with your doctor if you’re not sure. It is better to be safe than sorry!

Go ahead and buy some stretch marks lotion when you’re ready. You might be overwhelmed by the many different choices available, though. And as you might have guessed, some work, and some don’t! To make the best choice, you should ask your friends for some recommendations.

Now, are you friends with anyone who has had to deal with stretch marks? Did she manage to get rid of them with a lotion? This is the lotion you want! Ask her what she used.

But also keep in mind that everyone’s bodies and needs are different. You’ll need to choose a lotion based on your skin type and how many times you think you’ll need to put it on each day. You’ll see results if you follow the directions faithfully.

But what if it’s too expensive? Remember, just as stretch mark creams vary in quality, they will also vary in price. There is no lack of lotions for you to choose from. Simply go over the assorted varieties and pick the best of the lot.

It’s a great idea to buy and use stretch marks lotion. The best lotions are formulated to give you the best results possible. If you take your time and pick out the one that’s right for you, stretch marks will become a thing of the past.

Who Can Stick With 1200 Calorie Diets?

March 27th, 2008 by Kaye Medalla
by Kaye Medalla

Obesity or being overweight has been referred to as a “silent” disease of mankind. This is a hidden disease which is responsible for shortening the lives of average adults. It actually cuts off at least 5 years of an average, overweight man’s life.

There has been much talk about low calorie diets particularly 1200 calorie diets which are often used by some people trying to lose weight. Although people use this kind of diet, we should all keep in mind that 1200 calorie diets should not be used for long term weight loss purposes.

Unfortunately, 1200 calorie diets and other calorie restrictive diets are only advisable to be used to jump start a weight loss program and not to be used for a long term basis. If you use this type of diet for the long term, you will soon feel the weight of losing the needed energy and the effectiveness of the diet will diminish.

You should understand that once you undergo a restrictive diet, the benefits are gained only in the initial phase when your body has just been shocked and unable to react immediately to the low amount of food. Thus, it will lose the extra weight you have because your body will use up the stored fat.

Once your body metabolism slows down again, you will then gain all the weight you have lost back right in. This is a natural body mechanism because it actually thinks that it is helping us to survive everyday. We should try to educate ourselves more with this types of diet plans so we could avoid the “lose weight-gain weight” cycle.

I am sure that if you only knew that losing weight and putting it on again posts a greater danger to your body than actually being overweight. You would do everything to keep the fat off as hard as you can. Unfortunately, not everybody knows this fact and some are just unmindful of the dangers while getting on the “lose weight-gain weight” ride.

Using 1200 calorie diets are ideal only during the initial phase of a weight loss plan. You should never forget to add modifications to this diet plan once you see the benefits of the program. Once you start losing weight, you should also start looking for a diet plan that will make you lose the pounds for the long term.

In looking for a new weight loss plan, we should choose the one that will provide us the benefits of a worry free weight loss, which is natural and safe and these benefits should remain with us over the years to come.

The Amazing Health Benefits of Vitamin D

March 27th, 2008 by Keith Woolley
by Keith Woolley

If you’re seriously interested in mastering your knowledge regarding basic vitamins, then in order to learn more about Vitamin D, you need to research beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you must know about Vitamin D.

Now that we’ve looked at why we need Vitamin D, let’s turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered in order to expand our knowledge of Vitamin D.

Many people from cultures around the world talk about exposing babies and children to the sun early in the morning, to get their Vitamins, has a medical base – indeed as shown by the latest medical research – confirming that Vitamin D can indeed be manufactured from sun rays. But there is more to Vitamin D than just being synthesized through the sun.

Like Vitamins which can be obtained from food, Vitamin D is made not only from the UV rays of the sun but also from various food groups. Anyone who wants a free source of this vitamin can get it by exposing themselves to the sun as the latter triggers the synthesis of Vitamin D in the skin.

Vitamin D per se doesn’t do wonders for the body (although there are some forms that are active like Calciferol – Solgar Vitamin D3) because it needs to be chemically converted into dihydroxyvitamin D. The conversion is done with the help of the kidneys and the liver. This form of Vitamin D is important as it is responsible for: Stimulating phosphorus and calcium absorption Helps in formation of strong bones Along with the other Vitamins and minerals, Vitamin D promotes the mineralization of bones Help in the maintenance of a healthy immune system Preventing rickets (for children) Preventing osteomalacia (for adults) Regulates growth of cells

Anyone who wants to get a regular dose of Vitamin D can look for fortified foods or regular food groups that have substantial content of this vitamin. Vitamin D can be sourced from some of the following food sources.

Cooked mackerel and salmon ormtuna fish and sardines Milk (whether whole milk, reduced fat milk, nonfat milk, or milk fortified with Vitamin D) Margarine fortified with Vitamin D Cereals fortified with Vitamin Egg yolk (although eating the whole egg is advisable) Swiss cheese Cooked beef and liver Sunlight

Even though sunlight is considered an important source of Vitamin D there are factors that affect the synthesis of this vitamin in the skin like smog, pollution, cloud cover, time of the day when exposed, season and the use of sunscreen (sunscreen with a minimum SPF 8 will inhibit the exposure to UV rays of the sun). Supprisingly, a short 10-minute exposure to the rays of the sun may be enough to allow Vitamin D synthesis but person should apply sunscreen with SPF 15 to protect his skin from the damaging effects of the sun.

A person who wants to maintain healthy bones should make sure he gets Adequate Intake of Vitamin D. Here is a rough guide to the daily amount of Vitamin D (in International Units or IU) according to what age bracket the user is in:

Children up to 13 years old-200 IU Men and women who are 14 to 18 years old-200IU Men and women who are 51 to 70 years old-400 IU Men and women who are over 71 years of age-600 IU Pregnant women 14 to 50 years old-200 IU Lactating women 14 to 50 years old-200 IU

Despite the availability of sunlight and foods containing Vitamin D, deficiency can still occur among all age groups due to a lot of factors including absorption defects (problem with the kidney resulting to failure in conversion), inadequate diet, lack of sun exposure, and increasing requirement of the Vitamin. Among those who usually experience Vitamin D deficiency are vegetarians, people who are lactose intolerant as well as those with milk allergies.

Effects of Vitamin D deficiency:

A person who is deficient in Vitamin D can be susceptible to bone-related diseases like: 1. Rickets-This is a disease of the bone which is characterized by deformities in the bones. This occurs when the body fails to mineralize the bone tissues properly due to lack of Vitamin D. Research however shows that this can be reversed with the daily intake of up to 3 teaspoons of cod liver oil. The prevalence of Rickets among Americans resulted to the mandatory Vitamin D fortification on milk.

2. Osteomalacia-This is a bone disease identified with adults and is characterized by weak muscles and bones. The problem is that such deficiency can’t be easily detected until bone weakness and other bone-related diseases shows up which can take long. Many people who who are over 50 years of age are more susceptible to getting this disease because their skin is no longer as efficient in synthesizing Vitamin D. The same goes for their kidneys. Vitamin D supplements, like Solgar’s Vitamin D are thus recommended for these people.

3. Osteoporosis-Whilst this disease is more identified with lack of calcium resulting to fragile bones, this is also one of the long terms effects of Vitamin D deficiency. Anyone with enough Vitamin D in his bones will have lesser chances of getting osteoporosis.

If Vitamin D deficiency can result in bone-related diseases, too much intake of Vitamin D can also be a health hazard as it can cause vomiting, nausea, weight loss and constipation. However, a person who relies on the sun for his Vitamin D is safe from toxicity. Those taking in supplements should be careful not to go overboard, and follow the recommendations on the bottle, or from heir health-care provider.

Now you can be a confident expert on Vitamin D. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on Vitamin D.

Anyone Else Need Tips for Using Natural Remedies Safely?

March 27th, 2008 by Keith Woolley
by Keith Woolley

Are you researching information on purchasing a natural remedy to give relief to a minor medical problem, such as a toothache, migraine, headache, or stomach ache? If that is you, you are not alone. A large number of individuals are now turning to “new” natural remedies, also referred to as “home remedies”. That said, if this is the first time that you will be experimenting with a natural remedy, you may need reassuring with some safety guidance. If that is the case, please continue to read on, as a few helpful and important natural remedy tips are revealed below.

Although natural remedies do work very well, it is also important to know that you may see a difference from person to person. For example, there are some individuals who claim that drinking grape juice, namely the juice directly from ripe grapes, is a great way to relieve the pain associated with a headache or a migraine. Yes, this remedy may work for others, but that does not necessarily mean that that same natural remedy will work for you or your family. The good news though is that there are many home remedies for different medical problems. For example, a fresh apple each morning, a cabbage compress, and a cold compress are other natural ways that can provide relief from a headache or a migraine. This means that even if you can’t find relief immediately, there should be another remedy out there that can provide you with relief.

Since there should be a number of natural remedies for you to choose from, you will want to examine each of the available remedies. What you will then want to do to is choose the remedy that is most convenient for you. For example, natural remedies that are effective at removing warts include castor oil, ripe pineapples, onions, and potatoes. What you will want to do is choose the item that you already have in your home. For example, if you have a bag of potatoes in your cupboard slice up a potato and rub it on your wart. Doing so each night for a couple of weeks will help to remove your wart. This method will also prevent you from having to make a trip to the grocery store, as you chose a natural remedy that involved an item in which you already had in your home.

Safety should also be touched on when looking to use a natural remedy to cure a minor medical issue, such as a headache, migraine, or a toothache. If you rely on herbal remedies or vitamins to provide you with relief are you also taking prescribed medication? If so, you may want to place a quick telephone call to your doctor or pharmacist. Most times, you will be okay, but there are a small number of prescribed medications that should not be taken with herbal supplements or vitamins. Even though the chance of a dangerous combination happening is very small, there is still no harm in checking first.

In keeping with safety, it is important to know what you are allergic to. For example, if you are allergic to an ingredient that may be listed in a natural remedy, you are advised against using that remedy. Even if the ingredient that you may have a bad reaction to is only a small component, it is still best if you avoid that particular remedy. With that being said, it was stated above how most minor medical issues can be treated with a number of different natural remedies. That is why you should never put yourself at risk for an allergic reaction, especially when you should have a number of other natural and safe remedies to choose from.

As a reminder, natural remedies are a very safe and effective way to seek relief or treat a large number of minor medical issues, but you are still advised to proceed with researched caution. Ask the advice of a healthcare professional, or healthfood store if you take prescribed medication and never use a natural remedy that contains an ingredient which you are allergic to or known to have a reaction with.

Latest Wonder Product to delay the Ageing Process

March 27th, 2008 by Keith Woolley
by Keith Woolley

It is quite normal to expect people to want to look attractive and this might explain why anti-ageing skin care products are so successful; reducing the visible signs of ageing is the goal for many people as they grow older, and why shouldn’t it be? This group of beauty products generally works by enabling the synthesis of collagen, the main protein of connective tissue in animals and the most abundant in our body; twenty-five per cent of the skin’s protein is collagen. This category of skin products is in fact related to another group of everyday products that help reduce the signs of aging; we call them antioxidants, they aid the repair of cell damage associated with cell damage. The latest product on the market to dleay the ageing process and prevent cell and DNA damage is Solgar’s AC-11.

Probably the best known of these anti-oxidants is vitamin C although no-one really knows just how much we should have each day. The problem with vitamin C derived skin care treatments is they can become oxidized when exposed to the atmosphere, often even before they are used.

More stable skin care treatments are now available that are almost as efficient and actually cost less to manufacture. However, these anti-ageing skin care treatments are not as effective vitamin C based products, although vitamin E and lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants and have similar effects. This is where Solgar’s AC-11 is revolutionary!

Vitamin E is an antioxidant and component of human blood whose purpose is to help increase the body’s immune system against diseases including cancer.

It has also been discovered that there are anti-ageing benefits to vitamins B5, B6 and B12. The use of anti-ageing skin care products is a huge scientific field to research and has far greater potential than just producing goods that reduce the visible signs of age. It should be noted that one the best sources of these vitamins come from the brand Solgar.

Fortunately there is a number of natural anti-ageing regimes that can be carried out that do not rely on science. You know all these things but how many do you practice? Regular exercise, restful sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy diet and keeping your stress levels low are all necessary.

At the moment though, science is still behind the field of natural anti-ageing methods and it might take some time to replace them. Drinking plenty of water, getting a good night’s sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are an essential means of delaying the ageing process.

Getting the Best Out of Foods that Lower Cholesterol

March 27th, 2008 by JB Anthony
by JB Anthony

It can do you a lot of good to know the foods that lower cholesterol. For one, you will know which foods to avoid and which foods you should stock up on. Health should be a primary concern, so you should be careful of the food you eat, since they affect you. With the rise of more processed food full of unsaturated fat, it is no wonder that more people have high cholesterol levels. This could lead to health problems.

One step to lowering cholesterol level is to make sure you are avoiding foods that have high cholesterol content. The following are three examples of foods that can help you in your quest to lower cholesterol levels.

- Almonds, Walnuts, and More

Almonds and walnuts are full of polyunsaturated fatty acids that keep the blood vessels elastic and healthy. Eating them for a period of four weeks will greatly improve your health. Instead of cheese or meat that are full of unsaturated fat in your salads, use nuts instead. However, since nuts are rich in calories, you have to be careful not to go overboard.

- Fish and Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are known for their triglyceride-lowering effect but other than that, they reduce blood pressure and lower the risk of blood clots. People who are suffering from heart attacks can also find that omega-3 fatty acids or fish oil can reduce the risk of sudden death.

Most doctors would recommend two servings of fish a week. You can eat baked or grilled albacore tuna, herring, lake trout, mackerel, salmon, and sardines.

Omega-3 fatty acids are not found in fish alone. You can get them from canola oil, flaxseed, soybean oil, and walnuts, too.

- Oat Bran and Oatmeal

Oat bran and oatmeal contain soluble fiber that can lower low density lipoprotein (LDL), which is a bad type of cholesterol. Soluble fiber reduces the absorption of cholesterol in the intestines and binds bile and dietary cholesterol for the body to excrete later.

Besides oats, soluble fiber can also be found in apples, barley, Brussels sprouts, kidney beans, pears, prunes, and psyllium.

Though it may be true that foods that lower cholesterol are good for you, there is no need for you to overdo it lest you develop other ailments. While some of them do reduce the levels of cholesterol in your body, they can also increase the fat, like nuts and other types of oil.

Before you subject yourself to a different diet than the one you are used to, consult a doctor first. Medical opinion is always important, if ever anything goes wrong or if your new diet won’t work on you.

It you plan to take foods that lower cholesterol, make sure your body can handle the change. Do not starve yourself and do not deprive yourself of most foods just because they contain a few fats. Moderation is key.

Negative Effects of Smoking

March 26th, 2008 by Andrew John
by Andrew W John

Cigarette smoking is not a good habit, that’s what one can hear even from smokers. Nicotine is addictive, making it difficult to give it up, and ex-smokers usually need a real fit of strong will to stop smoking. Sadly, because giving up smoking requires some strong will on the smoker’s side, many smokers simply do not bother with trying to give up. If they only really knew what is at stake…

Everyone probably knows that smoking damages one’s health, appearance, and image. It is dangerous to your family and workmates (if you smoke at work), inhaling smoke is not a pleasant feeling, and your clothes and you start to stink to heavens after only a few weeks of smoking. However, this is only the beginning of what happens to smokers. The whole truth is known only to few people – not because it’s secret, but because it is so hard to believe in all bad things we do to ourselves by smoking.

The Terrible Truth

First of all, you must understand the scale of the problem. Almost half-million people die every year because of smoking, mainly due to lung cancer and other respiratory problems. The cigarette smoke contains over 4000 harmful chemical compounds, almost a hundred of them are known to trigger cancer. In other words, we are willingly performing mass murder on ourselves – and we even pay for the chance of getting killed!

Heart diseases are another problems caused or at least strengthened by the cigarette smoke. Strokes and coronary health illnesses are but two examples of a much wider notion. The chances of having a stroke increases greatly both for cigarette smokers and the second-hand smokers who only breathe in the smoke for other people’s cigarettes.

We may say of course, that people are free to do whatever they want, even if they harm themselves. Of course that true – we live in a free country anyway – but the problem is that one of the main victims of our bad habits are our children. OR, to tell the truth, parents and children alike. First of all, cigarette smoke may cause infertility both in males and females. Then, a woman who breaths in cigarette smoke during pregnancy sentence their children to suffer from the respiratory problems for the rest of their life. In more extreme cases, smoking during pregnancy may also cause premature infant deaths and early deliveries.

That’s still not all…

Most smokers however will claim that all those risks of death are just a chance, and they are ready to take it for the cigarette’s sake. The problem is that some bad thing happen to every smoker. You may live for a long time even if you’re a chain-smoker. However, you will look like a death warmed up for the better part of your life – and this can’t be helped. It’s not the statistics, it is the real life.

First of all, smoking affects the color of your teeth, staining them yellow or brown. This makes dental cleaning every year a must. However, the gum problems that develop soon after are not so easily disposed of. Cigarette smoke prevents gums from receiving all necessary nutrients, making them weaker and eventually resulting in inadequate periodontal support for your teeth.

Lack of proper circulation in gums causes severe risk of teeth loss. This is not theoretical! A teenage smoker loses between four and six teeth before he reaches his mid-thirties. Poor blood circulation in the mouth often results also in other problems, most notably complications after dental operations. For example, smokers are more likely to suffer of a dry-pocket.

Compared to teeth loss and dry-socket problems other “niceties” of smoking look trivial. Nevertheless, they are also infuriating as well as 100% sure to show up. The changes include losing color by your skin, thinning of hair and its breaking off, and the terrible stink surrounding you, your clothes and your stuff. Even though you may not notice it at first – the change takes months and it’s not easy to spot a difference building up during so long time – other people will see it for sure. So, if you notice that people start distance from you during parties or try not to sit next to you, it is probably either due to the odor they smell or to your weary and unattractive look. Either way, do not blame them – you have done it to yourself.

Now you know everything. The dark side of smoking: a few hundred thousand deaths, teeth problems, loss of good appearance and stink. Everyone with at least something between ears can do only one thing: stop smoking! While the withdrawal symptoms may be painful especially for heavy smokers, Cig-Arette is able to give them a hand and minimize negative sides of giving up. The nutritional supplements it contains will improve your health condition in no time.

An Effective Diet to Lower Cholesterol

March 26th, 2008 by JB Anthony

There’s no need for yo to spend so much just to lower your cholesterol level. There are several cost-effective and less-strenuous ways to do it and one is to go on a diet to lower cholesterol.

- Pasta, potatoes, and whole grains are complex carbohydrates that are good sources of energy without the negative effects of fats. However, baked goods that have been commercially prepared to be watched out for since then can contain hydrogenated fats and saturated fats like coconut or palm oils.

- Eat more fish. Have at least two servings per week. Fish like albacore tuna, herring, lake trout, mackerel, and salmon contain omega-3 fatty acids, a certain type of oil that can lower levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or bad cholesterol.

- Don’t forget your vegetables. Try taking 20 to 30 grams of dietary fiber or fruits and vegetables every day. Soluble fiber is present in apples, barley, brown rice, carrots, legumes, oats, and strawberries, to name a few. Soluble fiber can lower blood cholesterol levels.

- High sodium intake is not healthy. Majority of the people who have high cholesterol levels also suffer from high blood pressure. This ailment can be aggravated with the intake of food rich in sodium or table salt, and processed food. Even antacids, cough remedies, and laxatives contain sodium. If you must take these medications, read their labels first and determine if there are more than 300 mg of sodium per serving. Avoid using those that exceed the limit. Salt can be replaced by herbs and spices.

- Tone down on the alcohol and sugar. Both do not give the nutrients you will need, but they do contain many calories. They not only increase cholesterol levels, but they can also lead to gastrointestinal problems and diabetes.

- A diet to lower cholesterol doesn’t have to be without meat. But you do have to choose them carefully. Meats are commonly graded by their fat content as Choice, Good, or Prime. Prime grades have the most fat. You can also check the marbling, or the threads of white fat present through a cut of meat. The greater the marbling, the more fat. If you want to be more precise, avoid meat with more than three grams of fat per ounce.

To further aid you in your ideal, couple the tips with exercise and by kicking certain habits like smoking and drinking. These vices can increase your risk of heart diseases and higher cholesterol levels. However, doing exercise, especially aerobic exercise, for at least 30 minutes for three times a week can lower your cholesterol and strengthen your body.

A diet to lower cholesterol is not your only solution to a healthier lifestyle, because even if you change your eating patterns but remain physically inactive, you will not feel the changes you are hoping for.

How Do I Become Healthy?

March 26th, 2008 by Amy Cantwell
by Amy Cantwell

Right first of, it may look like a simple question but it’s deceptive. That’s because there are so many variables to look at before an answer can be devised. Such as, who are you? How healthy are you already? What exactly do you mean by healthy? How much time do you have? What age are you? How much effort are you prepared to put in? Ok I think you get the picture. I could go on and on with these questions but I don’t want to bore you. Ok let’s try and make this as simple as we can. How do I become healthy? I’m going to try and answer that question for you as best I can.

How do I become healthy? The answer my friend is to look at three aspects of your life. No matter who you are or what state your health is in already if you look at these three aspects and try to improve them you will be on your way to becoming healthy. These three aspects are:

1. Fitness

2. Diet

3. Stress Level

I’m sure you’re surprised at the third aspect. You could probably have guessed the first two as it is a fairly standard and well known fact that a healthy person has a good level of fitness and a decent diet. However you might not have known that a person’s stress level will have a big impact on how healthy he or she is.

Ok let’s go into each of these aspects a little deeper so that you can find out how to become healthier.

How do I become healthy? Firstly, your fitness and by fitness I mean you cardiovascular fitness. By this I mean the health of your heart. Right, now that we understand each other I need to tell you that your heart works extremely hard for you from the moment you are conceived to the moment you die. Every second of every day. The very least you could do to repay all that hard work is be kind to it. You don’t have to run a marathon to be kind to it. All you need to do at a minimum is go for a 30 minute walk every day. If you find this hard at first take it slowly, you can start out at 5 or 10 minutes and build it up by a few minutes a day. But do do it. Remember how hard your heart is working for you and it might guilt you into it!

Secondly, your diet and by your diet what I mean is what you eat. This is a bit more complicated than telling you to go for a walk every day. But let’s try and simplify it as much as possible by saying that if you want to become healthy you need to be eating a balanced diet. Start by eating more fruit and vegetables, and eat more fish. Then try and cut down on saturated fat and sugar. Eat less salt and drink more water. If you make a concerted effort to do these things it is a really good start. Don’t make things overly complicated by counting calories and measuring portions. Just use your common sense and don’t eat too much. By asking me “how do I become healthy?” you must have known I’d tell you to eat more fruit and veg, right?

Finally your levels of stress have a huge impact on your health. You’ve heard of stress-related illnesses right? Believe it or not stress can be a contributing element in everything from headaches and insomnia to cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome. When you ask “how do I become healthy?” one of the key things you need to look at is how stressed you are. There are a lot of ways you can improve your stress levels. That 30 minute walk every day that I talked about above, will do wonders for stress. There are also a lot of stress relief products available online, many of these are all natural stress relief products which I would recommend.

How do I become healthy? I have tried to make the answer as simplified as I could, now it’s up to you to try and follow through. Small steps is the way to go and in no time you will look and feel healthier.

Low Cholesterol Diets Are Easier Than You Think

March 26th, 2008 by Sue Burchill
by Sue Burchill

Your body requires cholesterol for many different purposes. It is needed in order to digest fats, create cellular walls and manufacture hormones, aswell as other things vital to your bodies health.

While cholesterol can be a good thing for your body high cholesterol numbers can be harmful. A constant overload in cholesterol is known to cause high blood pressure and all the ailments that come with it like heart disease. This is where eating low cholesterol diets will really help to avoid unhealthy problems such as those above.

Basically, a good diet in this situation involves keeping a close eye on your intake of foods that contain cholesterol and saturated fats. Pay close attention to your food groups. Our main source of cholesterol is from things like red meat, egg yolk, as well as dairy products like cheese and whole milk.

While it’s a smart idea to reduce your consumption of high-cholesterol foods like this you don’t necessarily need to cut them out completely since cholesterol still provides many benefits to your body.

A low cholesterol diet should also be complimented with a healthy and consistent dose of exercise. You can keep it to something easy, like a daily walk. If you have a pool in your backyard, use it for exercise. The local gym will also give you plenty of different ways to increase your heart rate safely.

Get your necessary vitamins from fruit and vegetables. Don’t ever fry your foods. This only increases the cholesterol content. Opt instead to reduce cholesterol with alternative cooking methods such as grilling or roasting. If a recipe calls for cooking oil, opt for a healthier low fat oil that is commonly available at your local market.

As you can see there are plenty of simple ways to achieve and maintain normal cholesterol levels, should you find you have measured highly on a test. Help yourself first with a healthy diet and exercise but seek the advice of your physician should the problem become more serious.

A Complete Introduction and Index for Homeopathy Remedies

March 26th, 2008 by Amy Cantwell

Short and Sweet Introduction to Homeopathy

Homeopathy was founded by Samuel Hahnemann in the 1800’s and its practice has had its fair share of critics since then. Homeopathy is an alternative therapy which a healthy Hahnemann discovered by accident when he was taking some herbs. His discovery allowed him to come up with the idea of taking herbal cures and extracting the elements to form what we know today as homeopathy.

There are several alternative therapies which have come from homeopathy and have many things in common with it. Examples of these would be isopathy or tautopathy. As there is an index for homeopathy remedies there would also be an index for these. Similar to homeopathy they have a great many believers and followers. However there is not yet full scientific prove as to the effectiveness of these alternative therapies.

Considering the Consultation and Where you can Find an Index for Homeopathy Remedies

How do you find out if homeopathy will work for you? Anyone interested in homeopathy as a treatment for them will be interested to know that it involves treatments and cures made from plants and herbs. Homeopathy is mainly involved around herbal treatments which are already used in alternative medicine. The actual system of preparing the remedy is the actual homeopathy.

If you are interested in seeing a homeopathy expert you can go and get an initial consultation. A consultation involves meeting the homeopathy expert who of course will know everything there is to know about homeopathy. They will be able to talk to you about your needs and explain to you how the therapy will work. After this the expert would usually make a homeopathic remedy for you and also explain to you how you can do the same at home if you need to.

Some extra items may be required if you are interested in taking up homeopathy, these include the vials for the remedies as they need to be shaken up in these. It is important to shake your mixtures in order to release the good qualities from the remedy. An index for homeopathy remedies is also available on my website (see below).

Eventually after you have shaken and diluted the treatment enough it will be now an effective cure as the bad elements are gone and the good elements have been released into the mixture. This is the core practice of homeopathy, how strong the mixture is. Some homeopathic containers will contain several cures and some contain one cure.

Homeopathy is an unusual alternative medicine that not many people are knowledgeable of. There are specific rules and regulations to follow in order to get the correct dilutions and the shaking just right which people can find difficult, but over time this will become second nature to you.

Buying a Colon Cleaner, Then Consider This

March 25th, 2008 by Col Valsunkski
by Col Valsunkski

There are many products out there today that advertise themselves as a colon cleaner, and for some people this can be just the product that you need. When you’re severely and chronically constipated, you need to do something to rid your body of those toxins and bacteria that are staying in your system.

It is unfortunate that some people don’t do their homework when deciding on a colon cleaner and will select any random colon cleaner product that they can lay their hands on. Some of these products are worse than the symptom or problem they are trying to cure. There some point you may wish to consider before buying just any colon cleaner product.

Make sure your diet is adequate and suits your lifestyle; this is the natural way to help your digestive system. Eating lots of red meat, not consuming enough fiber or drinking enough water, and smoking then relying on a colon cleaner to help remove the built up waste is not a very healthy lifestyle.

Having chronic constipation is more of a symptom that’s associated with a more serious underlying problem. And this is normally related to a poor diet and not staying hydrated. These types of problems can and do affect your health and not just your digestive system. Using a colon cleaner on a regular basis is not recommended in replace of a good and healthy diet.

You also want to choose a colon cleaner that doesn’t have harsh chemicals and elements that are going to hurt your system. Some products strip your digestive system of all its healthy chemicals and enzymes and leave you sicker than if you hadn’t taken anything in the first place.

While shopping for a colon cleaner make sure that it contains natural fiber and vegetable based products so the products works in your system in a natural manner. Not stripping the good healthy chemicals, enzymes and hydration.

Be sure that you read the instructions of any colon cleaner you try. If it says to take it with water, make sure you do just that, and don’t substitute cola or coffee. Water is very important for your digestive system and especially for elimination. Trying to use a colon cleaner without drinking enough water is just going to be harsh on your system and probably cause cramping and stomach pain.

Please consult your doctor before using a colon cleaner on a regular basis. If you do use a colon cleaner repeatedly or for a prolong period of time, you could damage your digestive system. This may very well cause you digestive system to malfunction and the muscle become lazy when not in use. A colon cleaner should never be a substitute for a good diet and a healthy lifestyle.
