The easy solutions for belly fat problems:

March 25th, 2008 by Jenny Jorden
by Jenny Jorden

If you ever look through a list of weight loss programs you are sure to see some focus on losing belly fat. This is in partly because belly fat is especially unattractive but the real should be because of serious health concerns.

Abdominal fat is what is called visceral fat and involves both a fat layer just under the skin as well as the deeper fat pad called the omentum. The bigger and fattier this organ is, the greater the health risk.

People with excess belly fat are often called as “apple shaped”. This type of people is under high health risks. They are prone to get diabetes and metabolic syndrome. This excess belly fat can also cause other diseases like cancer, heart diseases, gall bladder problems and hypertensions.

The good news is that losing belly fat decreases these risks. The bad news is that this type of fat is difficult to lose. No spot exercises will work no matter who claims otherwise. To lose this fat requires exercise that burns fat all over the body.

To start with, you can follow some quick weight loss tips. You should also carry on with an exercise program. It is vital to burn excess stored fat and to jack up the metobolism. The most important tip is to reduce the total calories ingested.

You should also try to reduce the consumption of simple carbohydrates and sugars. You should know that some of the belly bulging is not just due to fat but it may be due to inflammation of pancreas from the stress of excess sugars which can cause bloating in the area.

How will you know whether you are under health risk due to your belly fat? You can easily find out your risk by some simple measurements around your belly. If you are a man, you are under risk if your measurement is above 40 inches. If you a woman you are under risk if your measurement is above 35 inches, though some studies say that you are under risk even if you are more than 33 inches.

If your measurements are more than the limit for your gender, you need to lose your belly fat. You may consult a dietician and design a suitable diet with more fruits and vegetables. It should have less sugars and starches. It should have adequate protein and some fat. Your doctor can also advise you a plan to burn your belly fat. Your health and life are interlinked and therefore lose belly fat and live longer.

Acid Reflux – Food To Avoid If You Suffer From It

March 25th, 2008 by Bart R
by Bart R

There are certain foods, which a person may well eat and which can actually aggravate the symptoms associated with acid reflux. In order to treat the condition effectively a person should learn about the different kinds of acid reflux food to avoid.

It is best therefore once they know which foods are exacerbating their condition they either reduce the amount they eat, or they eliminate them from the diet altogether. In this article, we offer a number of tips that should help when it comes to avoiding those foods, which can aggravate acid reflux.

1. If you happen to have been diagnosed with acid reflux problems then the first food group you should be reducing or eliminating from your diet are those, which are considered to be fatty. So those like hamburgers and hotdogs which may taste great, but which contain large amounts of fat in them and will irritate your stomach. This irritation can lead to you then suffering an acid reflux attack.

2. Next you need to know that there are certain vegetables that even though are supposed to be good for us when you have acid reflux can actually make the problem worse. The vegetables that you should be trying to reduce or eliminate from your diet are onions, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.

3. Also it is important that you actually start to reduce your intake of foods, which contain caffeine such as coffee, tea and some sodas. If you do not then you will cause an increase of gastric acid to be secreted in your stomach and which will cause an attack of acid reflux to happen. So before you drink anything look at the label carefully to see exactly what ingredients it contains and those with caffeine in them should be avoided as much as possible.

4. If you want to avoid suffering an acid reflux attack then you need to start reducing or eliminating foods that contain highs levels of acidity in them. The main culprits to be avoiding are citrus fruits and drinks such as lemons, oranges and grapefruits along with cranberries (especially in juice form). Plus also starting to reduce the amount of alcohol you consume which again has high levels of acidity can help to prevent the problem becoming any worse than it already is.

5. Also it is a good idea to either reduce or eliminate foods, which are considered to be spicy, such as chilli or curry based meals. Often by eliminating these foods completely from your diet will further help to treat and bring the acid reflux under control.

Above we have provided you with information on what are the main acid reflux food to avoid if you have been diagnosed with this particular stomach complaint. Certainly, those people who have chosen to make changes to their diet in order to avoid the foods, which aggravate their acid reflux, have found it far much easier to manage and control than if they do not. There are even some people who have found that over time the symptoms that they associate with acid reflux lessen and in some cases may disappear altogether.

Chicago Breast Augmentation Facts

March 25th, 2008 by Andrew W John
by Andrew W John

For many women looking to change their lives, they often look towards a breast enhancement. There are a variety of reasons women choose a breast enhancement. One reason is that a woman may not be happy with her breasts and feel that they are too small or ill shaped. Another reason is that she doesn’t feel feminine enough, or she wants to feel more attractive. Still yet, women can do it out of a medical necessity such as if she had a mastectomy from breast cancer. All of these reasons can make a woman feel less self confident about herself and her body. When a woman has a breast enhancement she often feels more beautiful, and it is a big boost to her confidence level.

The first thing a woman must do when looking to have a breast augmentation is to decide what size and shape she is looking for in a new breast. It used to be that you only had a choice of cup size, but now with new types of breast implants a woman can choose from a more natural looking breast that is taller in size and less wide so it fits a woman better. While it does cost more to get a specially fitted breast, they look much more natural then the previously used crescent silicone implants that have been popular in the past.

Just as a woman needs to decide the size and shape of her breast implant, she also needs to decide how they are going to be put inside of her body. There are three ways in which a breast can be implanted. There is the axillary incision which is used to hide scarring altogether. It is inserted through an incision under your armpit that allows the doctor to place it above or directly under the breast muscle and moving the implant over to where it should be. Then you have the inframammary crease which is an incision made where the bottom of the breast meets up with the lower chest. Only one and a half inches long, although the scar may be slightly visible when you lift up your breast, it is well hidden. Finally, you have the periareolar incision which is an opening that is made where the skin changes from your nipple to your breast. A pocket is formed so that the breast implant can slide in and be placed underneath the muscle.

When discussing the surgery, the subject of what size you want your new breast implants to be will most certainly come up. Are you looking to be very curvy or do just want something to enhance your body a bit. Although women have an idea of what they want, it helps to look at the various sizes and shapes and try to imagine how they would look on your body. Women with different body shapes are going to look different even if they have the same breast and shape size. So, it is important that you get breast implants that are going to look right on your body and give you the confidence boost that you need.

By discussing all of these decisions with your doctor or your surgeon you can feel more secure and informed about your breast augmentation and how it will turn out. Make sure that you look for a respected doctor who will help you make all of these decisions. There are great doctors whether you live in Chicago, Texas or anywhere else in the world.

The Calorie Shifting Diet Plan

March 25th, 2008 by Marie Wilson
by Marie Wilson

All of us want to lose weight but wouldn’t it be nice if that could be done without having to endure a diet that makes you have to limit your food to just salads and soups forever and to constantly have to feel hungry all the time? Now that would be a diet we could stick with. And if you were to believe the hundreds of TV advertisements for exotic pills and programs to help us reduce weight, they have the mystery solution to our dieting woes. But sadly, they don’t.

It pays to be a skeptic so you don’t get sucked into some diet program that is nothing but hot air with no results. Most of those programs do odd things to our natural body functions like making your heart run like a freight train so you tremble and sweat the weight off or by making foods run right through your insides which is even harder to live through. And besides the expense and effort you have to go to get on one of these programs, they often make you feel terrible or nervous all the time and with none of the results that are promised on the slick TV commercials they run.

There is one diet plan that is not a commercial scam and not some diet of excess and starvation that has not gotten enough notice and that is the calorie shifting diet. This plan doesn’t alter your insides to somehow make fat fall off of your belly or out of your insides the hard way. It is actually based on a scientifically research approach to diet that uses a balance of when you consume calories and in what proportions to stimulate your metabolism naturally to help the weight come off.

You don’t reduce calories or give up anything with this diet. Instead you alter the timing of your food and the type of calories you eat at each small meal so you get all you want to eat, don’t have to give up your favorite foods and never have to go through that feeling of being hungry all the time that is so common with most diets.

The issue that comes with most popular diets is they call for you to deprive yourself of something you crave which means at some point, you are going to go back to that food. While you will do all you can to live without that food group for as long as you can, when the motivation goes away or the results are not realized, we lose heart and return to our old ways and gain the weight back. We blame ourselves but the real failure is in how those diet plans are designed.

When a diet plan already has the causes of failure programmed into the system, it is doomed to fail. Atkins, for example, is too harsh and difficult to be sustained by the average dieter who is also busy having a life. So when it naturally becomes impossible to live up to the Atkins expectations, people fall off the plan and the only thing you get back from all your hard work is more guilt. Diets based on eliminating fats from the diet also naturally fail because our bodies crave those food groups and those cravings only get worse as the diet continues. You might lose some initial weight but when that stops, you lose faith that the program will work and naturally give up. Low calorie or calorie control programs like Weight Watchers also depend on community enthusiasm to make you overlook that emptiness feeling that going without good foods causes. That can work for a while but if the program stalls out, many people fall off the program and have another diet failure in their past.

By taking advantage of your metabolism’s talent for reducing your weight, the calorie shifting diet energizes this important internal regulator to burn off fat in a healthy and natural way which leads to weight loss that is reasonable and sustainable. To be truly effective and not just get you short term weight loss, any program must work in harmony with your metabolism so the unneeded fat burns off naturally. The calorie shifting program is scientifically designed to use this natural approach to diet by giving your body good foods it wants and still making you slim down without the use of drugs or by causing unnatural physical trauma to drive the weight away.

Clearly the genius of the calorie shifting diet plan is that it uses calories to help you lose weight rather than makes you live without good foods. Instead of starving yourself, you change your schedule of eating in a scientific way so the same calories you love to eat are enjoyed at different times over four smaller meals each day so the way you combine calorie groups works to reduce fat and excess weight the way nature intended it to happen. Your responsibility is to simply make a few changes in number of meals you eat so you eat more often and to “shift” the calories around from meal to meal so each time you dine, you are giving your body something new to work on. So you might have a hamburger for breakfast, bacon and eggs for lunch, fish for mid day meal and stir fry dinner and then change that all around tomorrow. By using this unique approach to diet, the real value is that it actually works to make you lose weight and because it’s natural, the weight stays off. And that is why you diet after all, isn’t it?

Top Ways to Lower Cholesterol

March 25th, 2008 by JB Anthony
by JB Anthony

There are many ways to lower cholesterol. Some do it with the help of medication or surgeries, and others do it naturally. The following is a list of four ways to do it without having to spend too much or stress yourself on side effects or other costs, because staying healthy should not be a problem.

1. Lose Weight

Packing extra pounds is not always good, especially if you are already overweight. Having all the extra fat in your body will disrupt the rate of normal metabolism and will make you unhealthy and unfit.

Shedding those extra pounds can help lower your cholesterol tremendously. You do not have to lose them all in one go. You can do it slow by planning a balanced diet and by exercising. Shedding a half or a pound a week will already be beneficial for you. This is not just one of the ways to lower cholesterol, but it will also reduce the risk of high blood pressure and diabetes.

2. Say Hello to HDLs

Not all cholesterols are bad. There are HDLs (high-density lipoprotein), or good cholesterol, and LDLs (low-density lipoprotein), or bad cholesterol. Foods rich in LDLs include meat, cheese, butter, and milk. These can raise your cholesterol level. But you can substitute these with healthier alternatives like fruits, vegetables, and nuts, foods that lower cholesterol.

HDLs can also be found in fishes like tuna, salmon, and mackerel. These contain omega-3 fatty acids. In fact, omega-3 fatty acids can lower VLDLs (very low-density lipoproteins) and triglycerides, which is a type of blood fat. Two servings of baked or grilled fish per week are recommended.

Having an HDL-rich diet alone will not be enough to lower your cholesterol.

3. Sweeping with Fiber

Vegetarians are less prone to high cholesterol levels and heart diseases because of their fibrous diet. Eating fruits and vegetables-fibrous food-are beneficial to health.

Cholesterol is lowered when because soluble fiber can bind bad cholesterol with bile acids in the intestines and flush it out of the body later. Consuming at least 15 grams of it per day can lower your LDL level by 5 to 10 percent. Pectin, a kind of soluble fiber, can also ease overeating by slowing the digestive process. Pectin can be found in apples.

4. Walk It Off

Brisk walking is ideal for or people who cannot carry the strain of moderate physical exercise like treadmills, running, and workouts. Walking can lower cholesterol, shed weight, and help the heart.

A regular 30-minute walk at least 5 days a week will be enough to help improve your health.

You will have to commit to these steps if you really want these ways to lower cholesterol. You have to dedicate time and effort to keep yourself fit and healthy. You can even get other people to support you or join you.

Effective Staff Fighting Techniques

March 25th, 2008 by Trevelyan Kian
by Trevelyan Kian

Staff fighting is a discipline that is not quite as popular as the other more romanticized and often-depicted fighting styles.

While almost every other weapons-based martial art has received the lion’s share of attention over the years from TV, movies and the various media, relatively little is known about staff fighting techniques. If more people were aware of how effective and devastating this weapon is however, it would surely receive far more attention than it does now.

Nevertheless, staff fighting is slowly gaining more notice. A recent feature on a popular television program that covered the various weapons used in martial arts has shown just how powerful and effective this simple piece of wood can be in the hands of a suitably trained expert.

Capable of delivering a wide range of strikes from sweeps to glides to skull crushing blows and even jabs, staff fighting techniques are certainly something to be reckoned with. In fact, when faced with the prospect of a swirling staff that you have little or no chance of blocking or intercepting, the outcome of the combat will more likely than not favor the staff fighter.

Not only is the staff a powerful weapon for offensive combat techniques, it can also be an excellent tool for defense.

The staff can be used to block and parry just about any strike your opponent throws at you, whether it’s a kick or a punch. You can even use your staff to break out of your opponent’s grip if he catches you in a hold.

The staff has been used as a powerful weapon by many cultures around the globe, and each one has developed staff fighting techniques unique to their country.

The staff is an important part of China’s war arts style (wushu). China developed plenty of very effective methods and techniques for fighting with a staff.

The Japanese have their own staffs of different lengths. The 4 foot long staff is known as the jo, while the han-bo (half staff) is only 3 foot long.

Everyone from the Koreans, East Indians, and the Filipinos have used staffs as weapons. Even the English once used eight foot long pieces of wood as weapons called quarterstaffs.

Workplace Violence – Will Your Plan Fail When You Need It Most?

March 25th, 2008 by Jeffrey M. Miller
by Jeffrey M. Miller

You have your company’s workplace violence plan all finished. It’s loaded with all of the preventative and reporting procedures you think you need. You’re all prepared, but…

…for your people to protect themselves if something actually happens and they find themselves being violently attacked by an enraged attacker?

When I review a company’s workplace violence prevention plan, I find that they usually read more like any other policy. They’re filled with front-end, preventative policies and “rules,” and the company’s required back-end, reporting and disciplinary procedures. But rarely do I see a plan that fills in the center – the details regarding policies, procedures, action plans, and training – for how employees will deal with an actual attack. It’s this missing piece – this critical element of any emergency action plan – which is what a workplace violence plan should be seen as – could actually leave a company with the exact same liability and loss issues that the plan was originally written to avoid.

As I tell all of my clients, prevention is great and necessary. So, don’t get rid of your “zero-tolerance” statements, banned weapons lists, or employee interaction policies. Likewise, you’ll want to make sure that all of your hard work that went into developing those reporting procedures doesn’t go to waste either. But, let’s not forget why we bothered to create a workplace violence prevention policy in the first place. And that reason was…

…liability control, and loss management.

Isn’t that right?

Unless you’re in the habit of making up policies for your company just because you attended a seminar or read an article about it and some so-called expert said you needed it, your workplace violence management policy should be seen for what it is – a critical, potentially life-saving, part of your company’s overall liability-management systems.

The term, “life-saving,” may seem a bit strong but I mean it literally in the sense of a company’s financial life. Because a violent attack happening in your facility can literally destroy your company. But, when I say “life-saving,” I’m also talking about the lives of you, your employees, and anyone visiting and who might get caught in the cross-fire. The thing to remember is that, an assailant intent on attacking, regardless of whether he is one of your own or an outsider, doesn’t care about your zero-tolerance stance – isn’t concerned about whether he’s “allowed” to have the weapon he’s using, or what you’re going to do to him after he’s finished.

However, I can assure you that the new breed of lawyers who are standing by, waiting to represent any of your employees injured in a workplace violence incident, care about the same missing elements to your plan that I am. And these missing elements include:

* Training for escaping an area under attack

* Attack avoidance skills

* Assault prevention techniques, and…

* Physical self-defense skills

These are the elements that could make or break your company’s survival and future existence. The only elements that are designed specifically to save the lives of…

* your employees and managers – literally

* you’re business’ financial state, and maybe even more importantly…

* …it’s legal position should there be the threat of post incident action by injured employees making the company liable for not providing this type of training in the first place.

I’m sure your policy looks great. I’m sure it looks complete. But, the reality is that, most people charged with creating these plans – whether or not it’s you, a committee, or a specialist you brought in – lack the necessary experience in crisis management – especially with physical violence – to even begin creating such a policy. You owe it to yourself, your company, and the people who depend on you, to insure that your company’s workplace violence plan is more than just a “feel-good” policy that might instill nothing but a false sense of security.

Make sure that- when you need it the most – when you’re facing your worst nightmare in human form – it won’t leave you hoping you’ll survive so you can fill out those incident reporting forms!

The Yoga and the Yoga Practice

March 25th, 2008 by Lillian Suamibinith
by Lillian Suamibinith

The experience of Yoga is an interrelatedness of all life and of all things. It is a direct experience learning. It is about control of one’s mind and its modifications. Yoga is a discipline connected in an intimately way to the religious beliefs and practices of the Indian religions.

What Yoga is not.

Yoga is not meant to go away from home and human habitation ant it does not mean to leave home and human society. Yoga is a process of moulding one’s attitude to home and society with a new understanding. It is a whole process of shaping one’s attitude to home and society with a new understanding. It is not a turning away from life, but the spiritualization of life.

Although Yoga is not a religion, it aids to the practice of the basic spiritual truths in all religions. You can not experience Yoga by taking lysergic acid or mescalin or peyote (of Mexican origin) or divine mushrooms. Although Yoga is not a medical practice, it has been shown to be very helpful in many ways, so, Yoga is not just physical fitness training.

Yoga and Meditation

In addition to practicing the poses, yoga classes may also include instruction on breathing, call and response chanting, meditation, or an inspirational reading by the teacher. Using the term power yoga differentiated the intense, flowing style of yoga they were teaching from the gentle stretching and meditation that many Americans associated with yoga. However, power yoga will most likely appeal to people who are already quite fit, enjoy exercising, and want a minimal amount of chanting and meditation with their yoga.

Practice

Practices may also include meditation, reflection, study and other classic elements, but the emphasis of this branch of Yoga practice is on coordinating breath and movement. What is commonly referred to as “yoga” can be more accurately described by the Sanskrit word “asana”, which refers to the practice of physical postures or poses.

Practice asanas that draw your attention inward; forward bends and restorative poses. Outside India, Yoga is mostly associated with the practice of asanas (postures) of Hatha Yoga or as a form of exercise, although it has influenced the entire Indian religions family and other spiritual practices throughout the world.

It will not be out of place, therefore, for me to tell you frankly and clearly that not all that has been put across as Yoga is really Yoga. There are many signs that indicate that Yoga is being considered by many in the West to be the solution of the perplexing problems of their complex and speedy civilisation.

Eventually yoga is an all day long practice. While yoga is very effective in alleviating certain types of medical conditions, these are secondary benefits. The physical foundation of yoga is a series of structured poses (asanas) performed with breath awareness. Yoga is a complete practice that joins back mind, body and spirit. Decide if yoga is right for you.

Pheromones can Alter Behavior in Humans

March 25th, 2008 by Dave Raynold
by Dave Raynold

Recently there is lot of research being published on pheromones affecting human behavior. Most animals use pheromones to communicate, signal and attract the opposite sex. Ants have been shown to use a natural chemical to mark the pathway between food and their nest for others to follow when returning with food.

According to research, pheromones are chemicals presented by an animal or insect that invites or alters the behavior in those that come into contact with the specific scent. In some species, the female emit a scent to let the males know they are ready for breeding and the males are believed to emit a scent designating their breed and species and to let females know they are available.

The use of pheromones was first discovered in the insect world and later in mammals and there is recent research that shows many animals, including human beings exude certain chemicals mainly through their sweat glands that either attract or repulse others. Some of the chemicals have no effect on others in the species and additional research indicates that sexual preference also is involved in the type of reaction elicited by their release.

Different Scents Affect Different Behavior

Different types of pheromones exist in the animal kingdom. Dogs and cats for example use pheromones in their urine to mark territory. It is common in houses with more than one animal as they will stake out their ground for other animals within the home making it clear who is the boss. Plants also use alarm pheromones to signal that danger exists to other plants. The plants picking up the warning signal will then release chemicals to make them less apealing for bugs.

Pheromones are used by some animals attract the opposite sex up to two miles away. Usually, this is used by females to attract males and although its attractant initially is strong, it wear off quickly. Other attractants are meant to attract the males within a much closer distance and initially are weaker, but will linger in the air for long time.

For example boars emit pheromones to find a willing mate. The males will send the chemicals into the air in a cloud form over a group of sows. They then for the reaction of the sows and those that react to the scent are indicating they are ready to mate. Depending on the strength of the pheromones released the male can usually have their choice of available sows, but some sows may be more willing than others and begin to fight for the opportunity.

Studies In Mice Indicate Humans Are Affected

Recent studies in have found that pheromones create a strong attraction to members of the opposite sex, and this research is the foundation for marketing many products claiming to work for humans as well. While perfume and colognes have been used for many years to make people more attractive, the idea creating the same desire in people as in animals, is very tempting.

Every person is different in their chemical make up, pheromones on humans will take on an aroma unique to the person wearing the scent. While the scent, straight out of the bottle may smell the same, or have no odor, it will represent a different scent on each different person wearing the pheromone cologne or oil.

The Nuts And Bolts Of Buying Golf Clubs

March 24th, 2008 by James Beckett
by James Beckett

Most of the time when you start out in the game of golf, its easy to overlook the value of good golf clubs. So it would be time well spent to talk about how to go about getting good clubs even when you are just learning the game.

When it comes to a good game of golf, it pays to be fussy and insist on the top of the line manufacturers for your clubs. A second rate club may be improperly balanced and that tiny shift in fraction of an ounce of metal in the shaft of the club can throw off the club’s gravity and hurt your ability to shoot with precision with those clubs. To avoid this, go with a trusted name in golf club production like TaylorMade, Callaway, Nike, Titleist or another brand that is recommended by the pros at the golf club store you frequent.

There are golf club copies for sale that are supposed to be of the same quality as the major brands, but there is no point in starting off with a self-imposed handicap by getting a club that you can’t trust. You should get the best clubs you can at first so they last you for years and years and you aren’t caught short when your game improves but your cheap clubs cannot keep up.

An important concern is the length of your clubs. If you are short, you will have to buy golf clubs that are also short in length, if you are very tall, you will have to find golf clubs which are lengthy enough to fulfil your needs. A poor choice of golf club length will more often than not result in a worse shot.

Sadly, golf pros tell us that the majority of golfers get clubs that are not the right length for them, mostly too long. So to avoid this big mistake, its best to let a gold shop customize your clubs by measuring you for the right club. In this way, they can make sure your clubs are fit to your size, your height and the length of your arms for a perfect grip.

You may have never considered actually getting a customized golf set. But it’s worth taking some time to think about whether you want golf clubs measured just for you or go with clubs that are sold “as is”. Customized clubs are specifically designed to make you a great golfer. If you have a specific physical trait like a tendency for your hands to become moist, the clubs can be adapted with special grips so that kind of thing doesn’t hurt your swing.

Amazingly, less than five percent of golf enthusiasts get clubs made for them. So because it isn’t that common, it might seem excessive to go to that cost. But think about your goals because if you want to become one of the greats, start with great equipment. Before you make the decision, learn about how clubs can help you by checking in with someone in town that makes customized golf clubs and see what you can learn. That little bit of research can help you narrow down exactly what you want in your clubs when you are ready to make that big purchase.

Your golf game will be spared a lot of exasperation and frustration if you learn the essentials of golf clubs early on. And the more you know about how the brand name and the physical match of the clubs to your body really do matter, the better your overall golf game will be. So take your time and learn well how to find and buy the best tools of the game. You will be glad you did.

Various Types of Insomnia and Its Influence to One’s Health

March 24th, 2008 by Rich Benvin
by Rich Benvin

Insomnia, by itself, is not a disease. It may be a symptom of a physical and emotional imbalance or just manifestation of fatigue caused by lack of sleep. This condition is manifested by any of the following: a) light, interrupted sleep that one is still tired upon waking up, b) not being able to sleep, even if fatigued, c) lack of sleeping hours. Although this condition is usually temporary, insomnia may be classified based on the length of time it has affected the patient.

* Transient Insomnia – This circumstance remains just for a couple of days. Transient insomnia is typically caused by tension or as a direct reaction to change. It is occasionally called adjustment sleep disorder. The disorder might spring up after a traumatic issue or even during minor changes such as travelling or atmospheric condition changes.

Caffeine and nicotine are also observed to affect sleeping patterns. Caffeine, which is present in coffee, and nicotine, present in cigarettes, can cause transient insomnia. In most cases, treatment for transient insomnia is not necessary. It usually resolves after a few days once the person was able to adjust to the new situations or surroundings.

* Short-term Insomnia – This endures for 3 weeks or less. Short-term insomnia and transient insomnia are just about similar in their causes.

Female hormonal changes can impact sleep patterns. One of the female hormones, progesterone, elevates sleep. During menstruation, when its levels are small, women may go through insomnia. Then again, during ovulation, the increase in progesterone levels increases drowsiness. Variations in the level of progesterone during pregnancy and menopause cause modified sleeping patterns resulting to transient insomnia. Though women after fifty also go through chronic insomnia, this is commonly caused by mental or emotional elements.

Changes in working conditions, such as shifting schedules, also cause short-term insomnia. Also, people who tend to overwork get less sleep than the average. In one study, insomnia was also observed in people doing much computer work.

Light can also affect one’s sleep. Too much light at night can disrupt sleep or even prevent sleepiness. Likewise, less light during the day, as in disabled or elderly patients who rarely go out can also cause short-term insomnia. This is because the levels of melatonin responding to darkness. Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland, a pea-sized gland at the center of the brain, that help regulate the cycles of sleeping and waking up.

* Chronic insomnia – when an individual could not sleep, has discontinuous sleep, or is all the same exhausted after sleeping; and the circumstance repeats for more than two nights each week for more than one calendar month. Also, it is characterised when the patient is wore out and supposes that his day-to-day activities are affected by this sleeping precondition.

Based on the causes, chronic insomnia may be further defined into principal or secondhand: * Primary chronic insomnia – when the insomnia is not made by any physical or psychological imbalance. * Secondary chronic insomnia – may be caused by physiological and mental conditions, such as depressive disorder, or emotional and psychiatric disorders.

In one study, in industrialized nations, chronic insomnia affects about ten percent of adults. Insomnia can affect a patient during daytime when patient may experience sleepiness in the mornings or in the afternoon. Some, despite their sleepiness report failure to nap. Even worse, another group reported excessive energy during the day. These people are more anxious and even more irritable.

Due to failure to take on decent rest, these people have low-keyed concentration. If somebody has preexistent medical condition, such as orthopedic painfulness or arthritis, this may be worsened by insomnia. When one surmises that he or she has insomnia, conferring with a doctor would be the most dependable advise. One of these therapies may as well be tried.

* Minimizing consumption of caffeine containing drinks. This includes coffee, colas and chocolate. It is suggested to limit consumption after 3pm. For most people, these substances are passed from the body in a few hours. But some people have sluggish biological elimination process, which caffeine can stay in the body lengthier than the average.

* People can also limit stay in bed during the sleeping hours. This is effective to increase the tendency to sleep when in bed.

Scalding First Aid And The Prevention

March 23rd, 2008 by Dana Drewer
by Dana Drewer

You’re cooking in the kitchen then turn away just for a second , you hear a sound, turn around and your toddler is reaching for the boiling water on the stove. You get the water in the shower at just the right temperature, step in, and someone down the hall flushes the toilet. Wam! The water turns so hot you can’t get out fast enough. Scalds, it can happen in an instant.

Every year more than 100 thousand people are rushed to the emergency room for first aid of scald burns, a small percentage of them will need hospitalized. It only take a water temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit to become scalding, depending on the age of the victim and the area affected. Most scaldings happen with small children under the age of 5, the elderly and those physically challenged.

Scalding is a second-degree burn which is deeper and results in blistering or worse. Scalding with hot water or very severe sunburn are common instances of second-degree burns. It can be a burn injury caused by exposure to hot fluids or gasses such as hot water, cooking oil, or steam. In some instances, all it may take is some minor first aid treatment.

There are many reasons why the water temperature has to be kept high in many settings, such as hospitals, medical facilities, dishwashers, laundries, places where bacterial prevention is needed. In these types of settings, the water temperature is a minimum of 140 degrees F and causes a burn in 10 seconds, no matter if you are young, middle aged or elderly.

If you are unable to adjust the temperature yourself, contact your local health department or fire department, they will come and assess how your hot water tank is working and how hot the water is. There is no charge for this service. Remember, when you are at home or just moving into a new residence to make sure the water temperature is set at no highed than 120 degrees.

Teaching your toddler that the kitchen and the stove top are dangerous places will help keep them from injuries such as scalds. With that said you still need to be vigilent when your child enters the kitchen. For first aid prevention, keep all cooking pot and pan handles out of their reach and if possible move them to the back burner.

There are now temperature controls that can be placed on many hot water lines to help prevent scalding in showers and in sink taps, when someone else uses cold water in another part of the home. Never place your body directly into water until you test the water to be sure of the temperature. Always test a baby’s water with your wrist before placing them in the water. A baby’s skin is very sensitive to heat and can scald in seconds.

If someone is scalded, first aid will be your first line of action. If it’s a minor burn, put the affected area under cold water or apply a soaken towel with ice directly on the burn for a minimum of 5 minutes, but don’t let the burn area become numb as this may cause frostbite. If it is a minor burn the use of Tylenol or its equivalent can reduce the pain. Don’t use sprays or creams, this may arritate the burn. If blistering occures, DO NOT BREAK the blisters.

In some cases the area affected may be to large or severe and first aid just isn’t enough. Call for or get help and see a doctor or the emergency room of your nearest hospital. A prescription may need to be given to relieve the pain.

What Is The Atkins Diet?

March 23rd, 2008 by James Beckett
by James Beckett

It’s hard to believe that it was way back in 1972 when Dr. Atkins introduced his controversial diet program to the world. Atkins introduced us to the idea of high protein dieting with a corresponding virtual elimination of carbohydrates from our diets. But there is no denying that Atkins took off like wildfire in the 1990s and is going strong today. So it would do us well to dig down to what really makes the Atkins system work for so many people.

Eliminate carbs – the main point of the Atkins diet is that you must cease eating carbohydrates, or at least greatly reduce the consumption of carbohydrates. According to the Atkins diet, sugars are burned before anything else in the body, including fat. So if you consume too many sugars you are not allowing your body the opportunity to burn fat; as a result there is no weight reduction.

The Atkins approach is also controversial because it goes against conventional thinking by encouraging dieters to eat a lot of protein in the form of meat, cheese and eggs. Add to that a tolerant attitude toward traditional fats like butter and many salad dressings which Atkins maintains will be burnt off rapidly once the carbs are out of the diet and you have a very unique approach to weight loss.

The medical term Atkins teaches for what happens when the body is denied carbohydrates and it turns to burning other fuels is called “ketosis”. And this natural function means that out bodies naturally burn fat when it needs fuel and carbs are not in our systems to provide that fuel. And as fats are burnt off, we lose weight the natural way.

But the heart of why Atkins works is also in the attitude we are taught because to stay on the diet, we have to do what most diets don’t ask us to do which is demand our diet requirements even when eating out. An Atkins dieter is forceful in a restaurant to tell the waiter exactly what can and cannot be served with his or her meal. This means that even in a hamburger joint, you speak up to insist you get your hamburger without the bun but with extra lettuce, pickles and tomato. And your strict observance of the carb free lifestyle also means no french fries, onion rings, potatoes or anything else that will introduce sugar to your system.

This change of attitude may be the most important thing we need to know about Atkins because the diet calls for you to develop a new courage and pride because you demand that those who serve you food do so in keeping with the Atkins rules. But in this way Atkins fits with what we know about achieving a great win in life so if we want the weight loss we want, we have to be bold in making sure it happens in every circumstance of life as well.

But there is no substitute for being informed about every detail of the Atkins approach. So go from reading this and other articles to finding a book on Atkins that lays out the groundwork of the plan. Once you understand the diet, you can find plenty of other help on the internet and from fellow Atkins dieters in your community. In this way, you will pick up on those insider tricks of how to be a success with the Atkins diet.

The statistics don’t lie that Atkins is a workable program that has been a huge success for a lot of different kinds of people. You should expect a transition period as you move out of a lifestyle of eating carbs and become used to the Atkins system. But that minor discomfort is certainly worth the big results you can effect if you can get on the Atkins diet and stick with it.

How to Kill Louse Problems

March 23rd, 2008 by Margret Wilkins
by Rashel Dan

Several ways on how to kill louse pests may work. What most parents want to know however is the best method that can get rid of it for good. How do you make sure that lice never come back?

Kill the Lice

Most parents immediately think of exterminating all head lice when they are asked if they know how to kill louse problems. This is a logical first step but you may have to evaluate the different methods used as a solution to how to kill louse pests. There are many ways.

The first typical choice is to pick a chemical based product used for lice control. There are many different products though and not all of them can give the desired results. Make sure that you are comfortable with the idea of putting chemicals on your child’s head and that your child is not so sensitive as to react negatively to a chemical treatment. The fact though is that even very good chemical solutions to how to kill louse pests cannot always get rid of lice 100% of the time.

Another option would be to go for natural home made remedies. Vinegar, mayonnaise and olive oil have all been used in the past as lice killers. The disadvantage to natural remedies is the apparent lack of standardized measurements and modes of application. You may have to do some trial and error to arrive at an effective mix.

Manual killing of head lice is still practiced by some today. Some people still think that crushing lice in between the nails is the only sure way of killing the pests. You would of course have to put a lot of energy, patience and stamina for this kind of activity.

Eliminate the Nits

Kill the lice as well as the nits. Nits can stick stubbornly on the hair shaft near the scalp, refuse to die and hatch when they are ready. This means that you may have a new batch of nymphs on your hands. The most basic way to kill nits is to manually pick them with your fingers. Others suggest though that a little olive oil and a good nit comb may provide a lot of help. You could also always shave off your child’s hair as a shortcut solution to how to kill louse pests.

Tidy Up

Lice need human blood to survive but they can live for a day or two away from their human host. This means that even after a successful hair treatment, some live lice may still be crawling around the living room or your child’s bed. These lice could either find their way back to your child’s hair or invade another family member’s hair. You may have to vacuum some areas, dry clean some stuff and wash and dry your child’s sheets and clothes.

Check Repeatedly

Your home may be lice-free but your child can still get another batch of lice from a seat mate or group mate. Always set a regular schedule to manually go through your child’s hair. Be especially observant and mindful of your child’s hair if he has just come from camp or a sports activity.

How to Get Ripped Abs

March 22nd, 2008 by jason Oh
by Jason Oh

Desperate to know how to get ripped abs now? To start off, get your diet right and stop doing hundreds of crunches and sit ups. Here are 5 of the bes ab tips on how to get ripped abs

1. Many people stick to the same types of exercises for the same basic sets and reps and rest periods with the same long boring cardio – booorrring. To get over your workout plateaus and spice it more for better results, mix it up! Try a a workout using one full body exercise, like dumbbell squat & press, and do nothing but that exercise for a intense 20 minutes.

2. Try the Bent Elbow Plank – Start off by lying on your belly and then lifting yourself onto your toes and forearms (your elbows should be lined up with your shoulders). While doing this contract your abs while trying to keep your back as neutral as possible. Now hold this position for roughly 20 seconds, and then rest. Repeat this at least 40-50 times, or until failure. If you’re a beginner, you can simply start off on your hands and knees keeping your spine neutral, and then simply contracting your abs while breathing out trying not to move your back.)

3. You will also need to get a good exercise regime going – look at multi movement exercises. It works on multiple groups of muscles and produces far better results than ab specific exercises. You won’t need to work out every single day to get those cut abs, every other day will work out just fine or maybe about three days a week, but you will need to work for it.

4. For great abs, it will take time and effort on your part to get washboard abs, and that you will need to work very hard in order to achieve this goal. This is probably the largest of all stumbling blocks for many people, the need to stay the course for a longer time period than you could wish for. However, nobody ever said that the road to washboard abs was going to be easy.

5. Lose the belly fat – it’s hiding your abs. No matter how great a workout is you will find it difficult to even notice your abs.

There you have it – when it comes to abs, diet is king followed by high intensity total body workouts. This is how to get ripped abs.

The Neck Pain Epidemic

March 22nd, 2008 by Dr. B.
by Dr. B.

Chances are, you’ve experienced a stiff or sore neck at one time or another. Given the complex mechanics and functions of the neck, it’s no wonder that neck pain is so common. Neck pain and stiffness has just about become an epidemic in our society, yet the treatment and management of neck pain conditions is cursory at best.

What is truly incredible is when you realize the neck must be strong enough to protect the very delicate nerve tissue of the spinal cord yet it must afford us the movement necessary to be able to turn our head 1800 degrees, and look up and down. With all that movement the neck must be strong enough to support the 10 pound head atop it even during these extreme movements.

The neural pathway from the brain to the rest of the body and back to the brain is contained and protected within the structure formed by the seven cervical vertebrae of the neck. An injury to this structure can be fatal.

Headaches, vision disturbances, dizziness, difficulties with concentration or memory, a ringing in the ears, learning impairments, nasal, tongue and throat problems have all been associated with problems traced to the neck. In fact due to it complexity, the neck in one of the most important structures of the humane body, and is often over looked.

Injury, irritation, inflammation or infection are all causes of neck pain. The chiropractic approach to treating neck pain is to find the source of the problem and correct it. Only when you find and correct the problem are you truly cured.

When the discs separating and cushioning the cervical vertebrae are herniated or even ruptured, usually due to trauma, intense pain will follow. In some cases, surgery may be needed.

Poor sleep posture

exposed neck to the cold

Poor posture

auto accident injuries

slips

sneezing

Some natural disc degeneration occurs as we age. However, evidence of disc degeneration even in very young children suggests that stresses such as spinal imbalance, spinal subluxations, injury or emotional trauma cause undue wear and tear on our necks.

The chiropractic approach to treating neck pain is to find the source of the neck pain and correct it. By correcting the source of the problem, the body can heal naturally without nerve interference. Neck pain, often responds dramatically to the restoration of normal spinal function through chiropractic care.

Herbal Remedy Solutions, A Healthier Alternative

March 22nd, 2008 by Michele Robbins
by Michele Robbins

Does the option of treating a medical condition with a herbal remedy appeal to you? Or, have you considered the use of a herbal supplement for a preventative measure? If you have, you are in the majority since natural health remedies are widely used and effective.

These days more and more people are turning towards a simple and realistic lifestyle. They want to have everything natural and simple, be it their food or anything else. And in case they fall ill or suffer from a disease they look forward to some natural remedies.

One example of a great herbal remedy is arnica. This plant-based remedy is found in creams and ointments as well as water based gels. Arnica is almost magical in healing bruises much faster than if left alone. It is low in toxicity and really not expensive. Many people think it also reduces the discomfort that goes along with bruising.

There are many to consider for a good herbal remedy including a plant called slippery elm. A safe and effective herb that has been used for many years to treat digestive upsets and indigestion. Although, the most common use has been treating sore throats and laryngitis. Usually steeped into a tea, it relieves pain and helps promote faster recovery time. Not totally unpleasant tasting, but easier to get down when combined with other herbs.

The effectiveness of St. Johns wart as a treatment for depression and mental issues was discovered by Europe, long before the USA. It’s similar to SSRI, but is available over the counter and safe for treatment. People with high blood pressure, on the other hand, should be more careful.

Lots of women think cohosh is the ultimate herbal remedy. They use both the blue and black versions for coping with the pain associated with their periods. These herbal preparations are also felt to be helpful in dealing with menopausal problems. Because many women are unwilling to take hormone medications, this herbal alternative is very much in demand.

Many other herbal remedies are available to treat certain health problems, or as a preventative measure. However, you should always consult with your health care provider before using herbal remedies if you are taking prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs. As with any natural item, possible side effects or interactions can occur.

Have you been considering treating a medical condition with an herbal remedy, or decided to try an herbal supplement to improve your health? If so, you are not alone since natural health remedies are very popular and often very effective as well. These products have gained popularity as a result. You can find lots of herb-based cures for bolstering your health and preventing various medical conditions. Nevertheless, the most completely natural items can still affect you adversely or cause bad reactions when taken with certain medicines, so you should talk to your physician before using any.

Body building Program for Women

March 21st, 2008 by Jason Diggs
by Jason Diggs

From the beginning, bodybuilding has been considered to be a predominantly male sport and fitness activity. However with more and more women developing a keen interest in toning and shaping their bodies, female body building is becoming increasingly popular.

However, this was not the case earlier. Many women used to feel that bodybuilding is only meant for athletes. They used to fear that if they start bodybuilding, then they may bulk up and start appearing as a mass monster. Apart from this, they were also scared that they might end up hurting and injuring their muscles permanently. Many women used to get discouraged thinking that it is too late to begin bodybuilding. But the perception of women has undergone a sea change. Today, the woman population, as well as the society has grown more open to the idea of getting involved in a bodybuilding program.

There are mainly physiological and hormonal differences between women’s bodybuilding and men’s bodybuilding. A woman who is bestowed with a bigger body type has higher testosterone levels in her body which favors greater ability to increase muscle size (muscle hypertrophy). Such women tend to develop a lot of strength and power than women of smaller body types.

Women who are interested in getting started with weight training must first set goals for themselves (considering their age, body type, requirements and health condition) and design a realistic workout routine in consultation with a fitness trainer or an expert at their gym.

For effective muscles building, you must take a high calorie diet and you need to increase your protein intake drastically (at least to 2 gm/kg of your body weight). Ideally, you must consume a mixture of proteins and carbohydrates within two hours of completion of a rigorous workout session. Women bodybuilders need to take more iron in their diet, in addition to a lot of other minerals and vitamins.

You must allow ample rest to your body between successive workouts. Rest period allows your muscles to recover from the stress and exertion of the workouts. Every bodybuilder must take the much needed rest to allow sufficient time for repair and recovery of the strained muscles. Ideally, experts suggest 3 days of workout alternating with 2 days of rest as the most ideal workout routine.

You can go to the gym for weight training or even stay at home, and workout using free weights and stretch bands. You must focus on 4 main areas of your body during weight training – your legs (including your thighs and hips), your shoulders and hands, your chest and your back muscles. If you decide to go to the gym, you need to stick to bench press, squat, dumbbell clean and press, lunges, lateral raise, barbell row and medicine ball abdominal crunches. Apply progressive resistance and gradually increase the resistance to the level where your muscles feel exhausted and tired.

Most optimum workout schedule for beginners is 2 to 3 days of workout a week (each workout must be of 30 to 45 minutes duration). Focus on one muscle group during a single workout session and not on all the muscle groups in the same session. Make 8 to 12 reps of each set providing an interval of 13 to 30 seconds between each set.

Reverse Ageing – The Secret to the Fountain of Youth

March 21st, 2008 by Keith Woolley
by Keith Woolley

Imagine the next time you join a discussion about getting older or in fact Reverse Ageing. When you start sharing the fascinating Reverse Ageing facts you use below, your friends will be absolutely amazed to your secrets!

It seems silly for anyone put a limit on learning more. The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.

STEPS TO SLOW DOWN AGEING!

Longevity, It’s not a fountain after all…..

Historically, a rare but unique plant was discovered in the Amazonian rain forest. It is called Uncaria tomentosa, a vine that grows among the teeming, exotic plethora of botanical species, some of which have yet to be itemised by biologists. More commonly known to the locals as “Ua de Gato” or “Cat’s Claw,” its outer bark contains a powerful, natural activator of DNA repair, critical to cellular health and vital to longevity.

The benefits of Uncaria tomentosa almost make it sound like a cure all. It helps keep the immune system working properly. It helps prevent cellular damage, and damage to DNA. And while much of the action of Uncaria tomentosa takes place deep inside the cells of the body, it also works to positively affect the outward, visible signs of aging such as wrinkles and sun spots – conditions linked to the aging process in which the body produces imperfect DNA. What is the connection between DNA and aging?

Put simply, DNA is our genetic code or the “blueprint” that we inherit from our parents. When we are born, our genetic code, or DNA, is virtually pristine. Every cell in our body is formed based on our DNA, and each cell becomes a holder of our entire genetic blueprint. As we get older, our bodies and our DNA are constantly bombarded by things in the environment that can damage our DNA. A good example is the sun. Prolonged exposure to the sun ultimately damages our skin cells (and their DNA) and results in wrinkles or worse. In fact, any damage to our DNA ultimately becomes the cause of the negative effects we associate with aging. This damage can also manifest itself as the cause of various ailments we encounter throughout our lifetimes.

If our body systems can’t produce clean copies of our DNA, our health and longevity will be ultimately affected. The key to best health, therefore, is to keep our DNA clean and healthy and reproducing “clean” copies. We do this by enabling our bodies neutralize excess free radicals, and at the same time, strengthen and nourish our cells and their DNA.

So how will AC-11 do for me?

The major attribute of AC-11 relates to its effect on DNA repair, so it will be useful in many of the same situations as antioxidants. It is also anti-inflammatory and immune enhancing, so possible uses include: Anti-ageing programmes Immune system support (e.g. frequent colds/infections) Inflammatory conditions. Auto-immune conditions, which often involve the immune system and have an inflammatory element, such as rheumatoid arthritis, colitis etc. Family history of age related disease Skin health Recovery from injury and enhancing healing Those who only know one or two facts about Reverse Ageing can be confused by misleading information. The best way to help those who are misled is to gently correct them with the truths you’re learning here.

Gaining weight the healthy way

March 21st, 2008 by Jason Diggs
by Jason Diggs

If you are interested in gaining weight the healthy way, then you must understand the significance of a proper high calorie diet, regular strength training exercises and adequate rest, which constitute the three main key elements to a healthy weight gain. If all these factors are put together, then it results in an increase in the bone density and lean muscle mass with a corresponding increase in the body weight.

In order to gain weight, you will need to consume more number of calories in a day than what your body is able to burn out and expend. An increased calorie intake coupled with a little weight training is your recipe for a healthy weight gain. You need to calculate your daily calories intake and increase your intake by about 300-500 calories in order to start gaining weight.

If you are aiming at increasing your daily calorie intake by consuming junk foods, then you will be disappointed with the results because junk foods like potato chips, chocolate, burgers, wafers, candy, etc, add ‘empty calories’ to our bodies. They neither aid in building muscles, nor do they assist in increasing the bone density.

The frequency with which you eat matters a lot when you want to gain weight. It is recommended to eat at least 6 wholesome and nutritionally balanced meals per day by maintaining a gap of 2 to 3 hours in order to keep your body in a constant calorie surplus state.

In addition to your nutritious calorie rich diet, you would also need to take dietary supplements in order to supply your body with adequate nutrients. You can opt for a good quality multivitamin and mineral formula, a high quality protein supplement or any other exercise supplement such as creatine and glutamine after consulting your doctor.

In addition to a proper diet and dietary supplements, another very crucial factor responsible for weight gain is strength training. It aids in building both muscle strength and muscle endurance, apart from stimulating a healthy muscular growth. If you are not clear about the specific exercises you must do, you should consult your personal trainer to help you chalk out an effective weight gain program for you.

In your Strength training workouts, you must include exercises for all the major muscle groups of the body such as your chest, biceps, triceps, shoulders, quadriceps, back, abdominals, and hamstrings in order to add lean muscle tissue as well as to improve muscular strength in these areas. You should make each muscle group do 2 to 3 sets of 4 to 8 repetitions of each exercise. Gradually scale up the weights being used when you are easily able to complete 8 repetitions in each set.

Try to make every meal well-balanced by including starchy items (like rice, corn and potatoes) and high protein sources (such as fish, low fat meat, chicken or legumes). Add a lot of fruits and vegetables to your diet to supply more vitamins and minerals to your body. For the fat, you can add some nuts or flax seeds. Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. If you find this monotonous, you can even go for alterations such as fruit with peanut butter or cheese to pep up your meals. Ensure that you are taking sufficiently larger portions. You can drink milk or fruit juices along with your meals to add more healthy calories.

Should you consume a Protein Rich Diet on Non-Workout Days?

March 21st, 2008 by Jason Diggs
by Jason Diggs

The only way to build great muscles is hard training, great nutrition and dedication. A properly planned nutritional intake or balanced diet composition and pattern is an integral part of every bodybuilding program. The most important criterion that a diet plan must fulfill so as to consider it as balanced is that it should maintain a positive calorie balance inside the body. This is because a positive calorie balance is important for muscle growth. In this regard, a balanced diet that maintains a positive calorie balance is one that has a higher concentration of proteins and carbohydrates and lower concentration of fats.

Importance of a protein-rich diet during a muscle training program is one aspect that every expert trainer stresses upon. Apart from repair and growth of muscles, proteins play a number of other vital roles in our bodies. However, many-a-times, bodybuilding beginners are not clear as to how mush their protein intake on non-working days should be, when they are taking rest. On rest days, your body is in need of a continuous supply of proteins and amino acids to replenish your muscles.

Protein aids in the maintenance and healthy growth of our bodies. Even the enzymes and hormones in your body are mainly protein based molecules. Therefore, proteins are useful for maintaining the optimum levels of antibodies, enzymes and hormones in your body.

During the rest phase between successive workouts, the physical activity levels are low but the body’s repair mechanism is continuing with full force. Proteins are the building blocks of muscle tissues. Therefore, the supply of proteins to the muscle tissues must be maintained on a continuous basis for maximum repair, recovery, replenishment and growth of your muscle tissues.

Therefore, all bodybuilding experts unanimously agree that your protein intake must be maintained at optimum levels even on non-working days.

An adequate supply of water in the body coupled with ample rest aid in flushing out the toxins and waste products produced in the muscular tissues of your body as a result of protein digestion. Proteins are extremely useful for this purpose and therefore, a high protein supply must be maintained even on non-workout days. Muscles undergo extensive wear and tear and can get slightly damaged at the time of an intensive workout. A protein rich diet on a non-workout day helps in repairing the damaged muscles.

If you do not take sufficient proteins on non-workout days, it can cause protein deficiency in your body, which can lead to the burning down of whatever little muscles you have in your body when you do weight training. Therefore, try to take a high protein diet if you want to increase your lean muscles mass. You must increase your protein uptake to 0.8 – 1.3gms of protein per pound of body weight.

You can consume almonds, pista or other dry fruits and nuts as snacks between meals to add more proteins to your body. You can add loads of low fat milk, cheese, chicken breast, salmon and tuna, peanut butter, almonds, whey, and eggs to your diet to pump your body with adequate amounts of proteins.

Golf Injuries Can Ruin Your Planned Weekend

March 21st, 2008 by Bart R
by Bart R

My wife is a goddess, as was proof this past week when it comes to golf injuries. I am thankful for having such a great girl. You see my college buddies and I who have keep in touch over the years planned a golfing get away. We had planned this golfing get together for the past year. Then it happened my golfing back started to act up putting some doubt on the trip. We all had looked forward to this weekend of playing golf, shooting the breeze and yes perhaps a little side betting on our golfing.

My wife encouraged me to go on this trip believe it or not, maybe I should wonder why she wanted me out of town, but also help me to get my golfing back in shape. A dancer by trade the only golf she has watched is when she happens to come into the family room and someone like Tiger Woods is playing on TV.

FACT: Top Ten Golf Related Injuries. Back Pain, Golfer’s Elbow, Shoulder Pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, DeQuervain’s Tendinitis, Knee Pain, Trigger Finger, Wrist Impaction Syndrome, ECU Tendon Subluxation, Fracture of Hamate Bone.

When I was on the golf team I had dreams of playing the PGA back in my college days. Not being in Tiger Woods class it seems I had a better head for business than golf. Here is the good part, not once did I have any golf injuries while playing in college. I guess the younger age had played a big factor in that, being twenty compared to being over forty.

At thirty the strain on my back seem to increase a lot, especially while using a driver. After age forty proper exercise for warming up is an absolute must. Advice here from my wife is also a must if you want to keep playing those weekend getaways with you friends.

“Whether your playing golf or dancing pay attention to your flexibility and stability other wise know as your core strength” is what my wife said to me after her famous “Honey” to get my attention. I sat spellbound and listen as she talked to me wearing those great dancing leotards. “Tighten up your abs” is what she said, “all your power comes from the center of the body”. She then showed me how my back and hips are effected by my abdominals. “You had better make sure you do lots of stretching before playing” she added. What she said make all the sense in the world and after being married to her for all those great years I had better listen to what she says and in this instance she was more than right. With this added core strength by doing these exercises and stretching I find that my golf game has improved greatly. Longer and more accurate drives and not being tired after a full round of golf has been the reward for these efforts.

Now my buddies from college are envious, of my golf game, my “drop dead gorgeous” wife and of course my core strength (though they’d never admit to that one). Golf injuries can be a thing of the past, stay in shape stretch before tee time, and give a listen to what the little lady has to say.

Freedom for Joints

March 20th, 2008 by Jo Johansson
by Jo Johansson

There are millions of people who suffer from osteoarthritis – a painful condition where the cartilage between joints, which normally acts as a cushion, gradually wears away. The usual course of treatment involves non-steroidals (NSAIDS) and COX-II inhibitors to help control pain and inflammation.

But drugs like this carry the risk of undesired side-effects, ranging from stomach ulcers to liver problems, heart disease and more. The recent withdrawal from the pharmaceutical market of drugs like Vioxx and Celebrex are a testament to that. And studies have repeatedly shown that long-term use of NSAIDS can in fact accelerate the degenerative process, rather than slow it down.

So millions of people want a viable alternative to pharmaceutical drugs, that also show promise of having an effect on the symptoms of osteoarthritis, but without the possible side-effects.

Several recent studies have documented a couple of promising compounds: Glucosamine Sulphate does a great job of helping to preserve and restore cartilage tissue. Particularly when taken together with Chondroitin Sulphate, MSM and Vitamin C.

The good news is that these are all natural substances that can help maintain the structure and health of cartilage. They also seem to keep the cartilage well-hydrated, which increases its cushioning effect. And with none of the potential side-effects of drugs.

Although there are a number of supplements available that contain Glucosamine Sulphate, Chondroitin Sulphate and/or MSM, it’s best to look for a product that has been formulated to give you the most beneficial amount of each, and in the correct proportions to each other. The optimum dosage is: Glucosamine Sulphate (1500mg); Chondroitin Sulphate (1200mg); MSM (750mg); Vitamin C (250mg) per 120ml (4oz) serving.

The product I highly recommend (and use personally for my knees and my shoulder) is Forever Freedom. It has the perfect combination of all the ingredients you need, plus it’s has the unique twist of being blended into an aloe vera drink. So it’s easy to take, it gets to work immediately, and you get all the advantages and benefits of drinking pure aloe vera.

So for an effective and nutritious way to protect yourself against the signs of joint wear-and-tear, give Forever Freedom a go. You’ll be glad you did.

A Few Facts On Acid Reflux Causes

March 20th, 2008 by Bart R
by Bart R

There are many different types of acid reflux causes, which can result in a person suffering from this particular stomach problem. Most commonly, the symptoms associated with acid reflux will appear shortly after food has consumed when the stomach is trying to digest it.

Therefore, a person who chooses to eat food, which has high levels of acidity in them, will find that the situation is exacerbated further. This is because they are increasing the levels of acid in their stomach that is resulting in the reflux action and the liquid in which the acid is contained being able to get into the esophagus tube.

These are people who do not take of their dietary habits and will often be ones who eat lots of fatty, fried and processed foods. However, just by them cutting back or eliminating such foods from their diet will help with bringing the condition under control more easily.

One other reason why some people are likely to suffer more with this stomach problem than others is those who eat more food than their body actually requires. The more a person eats the more acid their stomach needs to produce in order to breakdown and digest what is contained within it. But over time, they will find that their stomach is unable to cope with the demands being placed on it and food will eventually not be passed through as quickly and which allows acid the chance to escape in to the esophagus.

The third cause for why some people may find that their acid reflux is far worse than it is for others is because they are overweight. There are plenty of things to show that there is an obvious connection between someone being overweight and them suffering from this particular stomach disorder.

What many people believe is that the additional weight a person has is resulting in pressure being placed on their stomach and esophagus and over time, the esophagus valve becomes weakened. Once it is weakened then the leakage of liquid from the stomach into the esophageal tube becomes much easier to occur.

As well as the acid reflux causes we have described above there are other things, which can contribute towards a person, suffering from this particular stomach condition. Those who smoke or drink too much or those who have some kind of food allergy or who are having to take a certain kind of medication that can further increase a person’s chances of actually suffering from acid reflux in the future.

Before you can actually treat acid reflux, it is important that you first find out what is actually causing the problem in the first place. The only really way of finding out what acid reflux causes are the ones which are exacerbating the problem is by seeking medical advice. Not only will a doctor be able to discover what is the cause but will be able to provide you with the right course of treatment to help bring the problem under control.

Calorie Counting – One Of The Simple Fat Loss Diets

March 20th, 2008 by Kerris Samson
by Kerris Samson

Fat loss diets are designed to suit each person individually, so you will find that no two fat loss diets are the same. If you are trying to lose fat, along with a good exercise plan, but you also need a fat loss diet plan. Your plan should be as simple as possible as this will make it easier for your body to cope with the changes. Often simply burning more calories than you take in, you can design a fat loss diet which is suited to your body type and energy levels.

However, actually creating your own fat loss program will take some work on your part. You can use books and charts to design one that meets your bodies requirements perfectly, otherwise you can ask your doctor to help you devise one instead. But what they may suggest is that you seek out the advice of a nutritionist who is able to help you with selecting the right foods and what size portions you should be eating.

Counting calories is one of the types of fat loss diets that is popular with dieters these days. This particularly kind of diet allows you to eat a wide variety of things and yet still lose weight. However, when it comes to counting calories unlike some other diets it does require a little more work on your part, but it will pay off in the end. It is a good idea to consult a chart to see how many calories you can consume in a day in order to lose weight effectively.

You can begin your fat loss diet by counting calories. That is a simple enough idea to start with. Make sure that you have a small notebook to write down everything that you consume. Even if it is something as small as piece of candy, you should add it to your daily count. If it touches those lips, it must always get wrote down. This habit can be easy to acquire. You can search online for a website to keep track of your calories, or you can log them in a notebook each day by hand. Whichever is fine; just get yourself in the habit of doing it every time you eat.

Choose your foods wisely, or the goal of fat loss will be unattainable. Remember to get your calories from all different kinds of food groups. This is essential to losing fat. Make sure that you are getting plenty of protein and water to help build muscle and replace the fat.

Yes you need to write down everything that you eat each day whilst counting calories to help you with losing weight and fat. But you also need to get a good exercise regime in place as well to further assist with your fat and weight loss goals. Ideally you should include not just aerobic and cardiovascular exercises in to your exercise regime, but also weight and strength training ones as well. This will help not only to build but tone up your muscles and so increase your chances of losing that unwanted fat.

Each type of exercise will do something different from your body, but all in turn will help you with your fat loss diet. Remember to change up your exercise regimen as you go and challenge your body. Be sure to take breaks and stay hydrated.

A large number of people who are on any kind of fat loss diets will choose to get their body measured at regular intervals through out it. Luckily this can be done very easily either at the gym or at a doctor’s office. It is a very simple and painless procedure which will tell you just how much body fat a person has. This will then allow you to recognize just how much fat it is you need to lose and yet still remain at a healthy weight.

Boost Your Immune System Naturally With Cartoon Laughter

March 20th, 2008 by Rick London
by Rick London

If I told you looking at newspaper or Internet cartoons might save your life or build your immune system, you might be looking for me a good doctor. Ironically it is good doctors who agree with this philosophy.

From best-selling author/retired surgeon Dr. Bernie Siegel to so many others, the recommendation is to surround oneself with humor, whether it be cartoons, videos, magazines, or whatever else is available at the moment. Cartoons are usually readily available, especially on the Internet or newspapers. A funny cartoon can release endorphins immediately; the type of immune system-friendly ones that can, allegedly not only make you live longer, but healthier. In my own life, common sense tells me that if I was unable to utilize humor, life would be a bit drab. So would my health. I have recovered from some severe illnesses, a few that doctors said “I might not make it”, I think, only because of my sense of humor. I am certain their own potions helped as well, but without laughter and hope, faith can dissolve rapidly, at least in my life.

Londons Times Cartoons was launched in 1997 after my mom died. I did not have a lot to start with, as far as financing, but had a lot of creative ideas, and was fortunate enough to build an illustrative and management team who knew what they were doing. When everything came together, from nothing, and it took a life of its own, and I was humbled and pleasantly surprised as were my colleagues.

It would not be long before I would come to the realization, perhaps for the first time, at age 43, that if the common man or woman puts their mind to something, they can do it, regardless of social status, education, gender or race. It simply takes focus, a plan, and the guts to work the plan. When I say guts, I don’t mean at all that one is a hero for trying it. It is only that I have found in my lifetime, that dreams are “a dime a dozen”. Everyone has a book in them, a huge building, a creative venture, or some other dream. More often than not, it stays with them, in their heads, until the very end. Nothing is more common, yet nothing more fixable simply by taking a few steps.

A person can achieve anything, and often it takes the help of others. I will give you an example. Over the years, I had written literally thousands of cartoons. Though I could draw fairly well, not well enough to meet the standards of what I wanted in a cartoon. Thanks to the Internet, I found a way to recruit some of the best illustrators of cartoons on the Internet. They were willing to take on this project with me, still in its seed/dream stage, based on the quality of the concepts which would later become cartoons.

By the end of the first year, I had possibly 100 cartoons up on a free sub-domain. I could not even afford my own domain at the time. Pop-up ads ruled the site and visitors usually got angry and left as soon as they arrived. But I persisted. And I use that word because of how important it is. Persistence is probably as important, if not more important, than talent and financial backing.

Because of my team’s persistence, within ten years, we built Londons Times Cartoons which attracts millions of annual visitors, and built 11 e-stores. We now have over 8000 color cartoons and almost 100,000 licensed image products that sell well. Our main website, Londons Times Cartoon has an eight million person following from Egypt to Canada.

I still scratch my head in disbelief at what can be accomplished if one tries. I cannot believe it all happened in such a short time-span as a decade. But it did. And it did while I was disabled. I had been employed since age 12 and became disabled in my early forties due to depression and heart disease. During that time I also went back to school and finished three years in business. I am on break now, taking care of other health issues, and then plan to return to finish and then hopefuly my MBA.

Like I said, think it, plan it, do it, and it is yours. It’s the American dream and it still exists.

Burning fat and building muscles

March 20th, 2008 by Jason Diggs
by Jason Diggs

Most people who go to the gym to burn out their extra fat also want to increase their flexibility, build greater muscular strength and endurance, reshape and tone their bodies and add some lean muscle mass to it. Now you must be wondering whether burning fat and building muscles simultaneously is possible at all or not.

Muscle building (anabolism) requires more calorie intake than what gets exhausted everyday; while on the other hand, losing extra weight requires fewer calories intake than what you are able to burn each day.

There exists a very fine link between losing weight and gaining muscles. In order to develop big powerful muscles, you will need to undertake strength training exercises to improve your muscular strength and endurance. As a result of your training, your muscles start to get stronger and bigger. As your muscles continue to grow strong and big, they would require more nutrients and rest. Muscles are metabolically very active and as you continue to develop more muscle tissues your body’s metabolic rate increases and the fat burning process becomes more efficient. As a result, you tend to lose unwanted fat from your body and gain lean muscle mass.

When you are under a weight loss program, your body is in a state of deprivation, as a result of which the carbohydrates, proteins and fats present in the cells of the body get used up for energy production. If you can manage to replenish the proteins and carbohydrates content in your body and allow only the excess fat to be used up for energy production during rigorous workouts, then your body can achieve the desired objective of weight loss as well as muscle building.

If your aim is to build powerful muscles, then you would need to take a high calorie and high protein diet, coupled with the correct resistance exercises to stimulate the multiple cells involved in muscle tissue development, along with adequate amount of rest to stimulate repair, recovery and growth of muscles.

For best results, every bodybuilder must aim at exerting the muscles a little bit harder than the previous workout session either by increasing the amount of weights used, or by doing more number of repetitions. This is known as taking progressive overloads and helps improve the muscular strength and size.

Do not over-train your muscles because this can have counter effects on your muscle building program. Ideally, you need to workout at least three times a week and alternate it with two days of rest period to allow repair and growth of damaged muscles.

However, if muscle building is not your only priority, and you want to achieve both weight loss and muscle building goals, then you must adopt a different strategy. You must try to burn the excess body fat by taking a low fat diet and maintain the lean body mass by consuming a high protein diet (at least 2 gm/kg of body weight is recommended). You can even adjust the amount of protein intake depending on the intensity of your workout.

The History of Electronic Muscle Stimulators

March 20th, 2008 by Amy Nutt
by Amy Nutt

The history of Electronic Muscle Stimulators is quite interesting because it goes all the way back to 2500B.C. which was the time of the Egyptian Fifth Dynasty. Although electricity as we know it was thousands of years from existence, the Egyptians discovered an electric fish that could be used in the treatment of pain. It wasn’t until 1965 when “Pain Mechanism: A New Theory,” a paper by Melzack and Wall that was written after a tremendous amount of research, revealed the benefits of electricity used as therapy to the people of today.

It was in the 1970s that Electronic Muscle Stimulators (EMS) found their place in salons. Over twenty years later in the early 1990s, units used in home treatment gained popularity. It was in the mid-1990s that wearable units gained popularity. They are worn like a belt with electrodes that connect to the skin with adhesive pads. Other Electronic Muscle Stimulators come in the form of shorts made of neoprene and other clothing items such as shirts. Since these variations of EMS devices were created, there has been a large growth in the EMS market. Most of the items are acquired by mail order and now come in different colors and prints such as leopard, cow print, and even zebra stripes. This is so the devices will appeal to some of the younger customers.

However, with the growing popularity of these devices, the FDA had to step in to regulate them as far as what reasons they should be used. In the 1970′s when EMS devices were popular in salons, a device called the Relaxacisor, which was a vest that administered high voltage shocks, was developed. The FDA had to step in and notify post offices to look for these mail order devices because the vest was a hazard. Other reasons why the FDA had to step in were, first of all, that EMS devices are not recommended for young children and those in their early teens. The more appealing styles and prints that have come out in the last decade are for those in their mid teens to their early to mid twenties. Children do not need to be using these devices for the reasons in which many people use them for, which is bodybuilding. Children are growing and usually get adequate exercise from running and playing. What the EMS devices do is help strengthen, tone, and build muscular endurance.

But since the inception of EMS devices, doctors have used them for a variety of reasons. They are especially helpful in those who are paralyzed, in pain relief, and improving blood flow in those with poor circulation. Chiropractors also use them on back injuries in order to relax the muscles, which results in faster healing times for patients.

As the use of EMS devices has increased, other variations of them have hit the market for those using them during intense sport training. They are available in different strengths such as maximum strength that feels comparable to weight training, endurance and recovery that decreases the chances of delayed onset of muscle soreness, and explosive strength that is used for those participating in sports that involve fast movements.

It is obvious that EMS devices have come a long way from the days of the Egyptians using an electric fish to relieve pain to the 1960′s discovery that EMS devices were great for medical uses. Since then, bodybuilders have found beneficial uses that help them in their weight training and more and more people are benefiting from the low voltage shocks of EMS devices to relieve ailments and to help strengthen and tone their bodies.

How to Lower Cholesterol – The Various High Cholesterol Treatment

March 20th, 2008 by Meng
by Meng

If you have high cholesterol, then you know that you need to get it down to a lower level in order to reduce your risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or other health problem. Sometimes this can be done with lifestyle changes, other times it may require medications.

The focus of nearly all high cholesterol treatments by medication is to lower the amount of LDL, or bad, cholesterol that you have in your body. For some people, it may also include treatments to raise the amount of HDL, or good, cholesterol as well. Here is a look at the treatment process for high cholesterol problems.

Logically, before any treatment can be started, it will be fairly important to know the cholesterol level and the ration of total cholesterol over good cholesterol. This is usually done through a blood test in the doctor’s office. The number will give your doctor an idea how serious the cholesterol problem is and how vigorous should the treatment be.

Once the level of cholesterol is identified, the first thing your doctor will discussed with you is your diet. More often then not, a diet that is comprised of more fresh foods and vegetables will be recommended that will greatly reduce the intake of trans fats and saturated fats.

After the dietary recommendation, your doctor will also advise you on your exercise and activities level. Which will help in the increase of good cholesterol and losing weight. Usually a regular exercise routine will be recommended if you don;t already have one.

A few people may need to start on medication right away. This includes people who have a medical history that includes coronary artery disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure, as these people are at a higher risk for heart attack and stroke.

If you are one of the many people who need to start medication, your doctor will usually start with a statin. These help slow down the amount of cholesterol that your body produces naturally, and can help reduce your risk of many of the complications associated with high cholesterol. Other times doctors choose to use other medications, either with or without a statin. These are often designed to prevent the amount of cholesterol that you absorb from food sources. However, do know that statin have side effects.

Continuing your treatment Once you have started a cholesterol-lowering treatment, your doctor will usually want to check your cholesterol periodically to see what sort of progress you are making. If you are attempting to lower cholesterol through diet alone, this will tell you if you need to add in a medication as well. If you are already on a medication, it will let you and your doctor know whether or not the dosing and medication are appropriate.

These are the time you can talk to your doctor on any concerns that you may have, eg difficulty with diet, so your doctor can recommend a dietitian. Doctor may also change the medications if you suffer from the side effects of the current medication. Alternatives could also be suggested if you could not keep your exercise routine due to your health conditions.

7 Exercises That Can Help Get Rid Of Snoring

March 20th, 2008 by Thomas Wilson
by Thomas Wilson

The sound of snoring is caused by air struggling to pass through your nose and throat. If they are blocked or obstructed in some way, it can lead to snoring.

One of the more common reasons for snoring is when the muscles in the neck and throat are not well toned. With some simple daily exercises, you can firm up those muscles which will often help with your snoring.

Ask any professional singer and they’ll tell you how important it is to do exercise daily that will help keep their air passages clear. Singers do exercises that help to tone their jaws, their tongues and their throats. Strong muscles in these areas will help them perform better.

These same type of exercises can help with a snoring problem in many cases, by helping to keep the airways clear and breathing easier.

Besides, you never know – these exercise might just help you win American Idol some day!

Here are 7 easy exercises that you can do anywhere to help tone your muscles:

1. Slowly open and close your mouth, to its fullest. Do it in a controlled way and ensure that your lips meet when your mouth is closed.

2. Pucker up as if you’re going to blow someone a kiss, then hold it for 5 seconds before relaxing.

3. Practice your smile – make it big and exaggerated. Hold it for 5 second before relaxing.

4. Press your lips together and hold them tightly for 5 seconds, then relax.

5. Press your lips together and then make a sipping noise, as if you were sipping a drink.

6. Stick your tongue out as far as you can. Keep it straight and horizontal – don’t let it droop.

7. Stick your tongue out to it’s maximum and then move it side to side – touching the corner of your lips on both sides.

Practice these exercises for a few minutes every day and you may find your snoring problem will disappear before you know it.

Heartburn Relief During Your Pregnancy

March 19th, 2008 by Louise Bell
by Louise Bell

Even if you’ve rarely experienced heartburn before, the chances are very high that you will have it quite often during pregnancy. A lot of the changes your body goes through at this time almost guarantee that you will experience heartburn.

During pregnancy, the placenta produces a hormone called progesterone to relax the muscles of the uterus. This same hormone also relaxes the valve between the esophagus and stomach and lets the gastric acids to come back up.

Contractions in the esophagus and intestines aid in digestion. They become slower because of the progesterone and digestion becomes sluggish. Acids can also be pushed back up into the esophagus as the growing baby crowds the abdominal area.

There are several changes that can be made to your diet that will act as heartburn remedies. Don’t eat foods with a lot of seasoning or foods that are spicy. Highly acidic foods such as tomatoes and ketchup should also be avoided.

Instead of eating large meals, spreading them out into smaller ones can also help with heartburn. Any use of alcohol should be stopped during pregnancy and alcohol as well as caffeine can contribute to heartburn.

Changing the foods that you eat and what you drink can act as natural heartburn remedies. But if you find that changes in diet aren’t enough there’s several over the counter choices for heartburn relief.

You might try using a chewable antacid first as they are often dependable and will provide quick relief. Antacids in liquid form may also be used, but they may promote more acid production in the stomach.

Antacids that contain aluminium aren’t the best choice, especially if your pregnant. Many women suffer from constipation during pregnancy and aluminium in large doses not only causes constipation, but it also can be toxic.

When buying heartburn remedies, read the labels. Do not take them if aspirin or sodium bicarbonate is included in the ingredients. Swelling is one of the problems that pregnant women experience and sodium bicarbonate can make this problem worse.

If none of the remedies that you try bring heartburn relief, ask your doctor about other options. Just remember that taking more than the regular doses can be a bad idea, even over the counter products for heartburn still contain drugs.

Hoodia and Diet Pills with Hoodia Facts

March 19th, 2008 by Kaye Fretz
by Kaye Fretz

You might consider taking diet pills with Hoodia. This may not be such a bad idea. You might have tried various solutions without success. Hoodia may therefore be your last hope to lose weight. Before you do try Hoodia, there are some important things that you should know.

Fact #1: There is some proof that Hoodia can help with weight loss.

It is understandable that you would want some evidence of Hoodia effectiveness. You only have to take a step backing time to find your proof. Hoodia is a desert plant that has been used to put a stopper on food craving. Bushmen needed this to help them manage their appetite when they went out to hunt.

Modern Hoodia pills hope to accomplish the same effect as the raw plant provides. Pills that have genuine Hoodia control a person’s appetite. An ingredient in the plant tells the brain to send signals that one isn’t hungry or in need of food. With your appetite gone, you tend to take in less. This is where weight loss happens. The plant is safe to use with no recorded negative side effects.

Fact #2: Hoodia is a rare plant.

Hoodia is now considered to be a plant in danger of running out. Due to the plant’s status, products that contain real Hoodia are also now limited. Hoodia products are also not around in great quantities because it would take many years before one plant can be grown and used. Diet pills with Hoodia have to carry a seal that they contain the real thing. It therefore follows, that since the plant is not easy to obtain, products with Hoodia are a bit expensive.

Fact #3: Different products have different qualities.

There is no one single manufacturer monopoly for Hoodia. Various products may claim to contain Hoodia. These products have different formulations and mixed ingredients. It is also therefore obvious that different products will have different effects on you. One product may work well and quickly on you while another may not do much. You may have to do a little trial and error before you find the right product for you.

Fact #4: Hoodia can’t solve weight problems alone.

Hoodia pills seem so great that many dieters simply trust everything to Hoodia. While real pills can help a lot, they aren’t absolute problem solvers. Your Hoodia pill can only do so much but you actually need to exert some effort and control. Hoodia works best when you also try to watch the kind of foods that you eat. It will also help if you keep an active lifestyle.

Fact #5: There are many false pills.

Hoodia is so in demand that some manufacturers have decided to make money out of the phenomenon. The internet is now swamped with pills that do not contain any weight loss plant extracts at all. Before you trust a Hoodia pill brand, take extra care in finding out about it first.

Diet pills with Hoodia can work for you. Just be certain that you have the right product that is both safe and effective.

What you must look for when you try to consolidate your credit card debt is a company with reduced APR, as the first advantage. Credit card debt consolidation basically means gathering all of your debts and transforming them into one single higher debt. If you own more than one credit card and you owe money for all of them, or for the majority, you can consolidate them into one new credit card. The best benefit you can get when you consolidate your credit card debts is to reduce the APR. There are companies offering low rates for the APR, some even offer zero percent for a determined period of time after the clients start using their services. You can get zero percent for six months, and if you search for offers, you can find the zero percent for the APR up to nine months.
