How To Choose Home Water Purifier Systems

April 23rd, 2008 by Trent Barrett
by Trent Barrett

Home water purifier systems are significantly more involved than simple home water filters. While a filter can easily be attached to your faucet by you, a home water purifier system will likely require a professional to install it, and will take up a significant amount of space under your counter or in another location convenient to your faucet. When you choose one, therefore, you’ll have to think about the cost and space required by the system as well as how the system itself works. The best home water purifier system is always the one that works best for you.

When considering home water purifiers, you’ll want to learn about their filter systems. Do you need to change filters frequently? This is an issue for some filter types, and it’s important not just because of cost but because of the convenience factor. If you neglect to change your filter frequently enough, the water you drink just before filter changes could be more contaminated than unfiltered water. If you’re the sort who will put off such tasks, you should probably invest in a system that does not require changes.

Home water purification systems also vary widely in the types of contaminants they remove. Not every system will remove the contaminants you need to eliminate. Before you invest in one, make sure it removes the things you need to get rid of. One system, the reverse osmosis system, will remove almost every contaminant you may be concerned about, but it takes up a lot of room and may not be appropriate for every location in your home.

Cost is an important issue when considering a home water purifier. The least expensive home water purification system is the sort that attaches directly to your faucet, using activated carbon to filter out impurities, but you can go as far as getting an industrial-grade UV system, which destroys every known living contaminant in water more effectively than chlorine ever could, for a little over a thousand dollars. Most home water purification systems are in the two hundred dollar range, but for some, installation may take a professional and therefore cost you a little more. With cost, however, you should also look at how the filter you’re choosing works. Some will provide you with all the drinking water you need and more, at bottled-water quality; if you’re a big bottled-water drinker, this can save you more than the cost of installation. For those who have hard water and overchlorinated municipal water, a shower water filter can save you a fortune by helping your quality shampoos and body soaps work more effectively.

General types of home water purification systems are as follow. Reverse osmosis systems involve putting a tank under your sink for a passive osmotic removal of contaminants, and supply you with bottled-water-quality drinking water. UV systems kill any living organism in your water without contaminating it with chlorine or other harmful chemicals; this is a great option if you depend on well or spring water. Activated carbon filters remove many types of contaminants and are inexpensive in comparison to others, but they will need frequent changes. And shower filters, using KDF-55 filters, remove contaminants in your shower water, softening the water and eliminating harmful chlorine. Examining the other differences between these basic types will help you make an intelligent and informed decision about which water filtration system is best for you.

Best Hoodia Product: How to Find It

April 23rd, 2008 by Kaye Fretz
by Kaye Fretz

If you know the power of Hoodia, you would want only the best Hoodia product. You deserve only the best when it comes to Hoodia weight loss solutions. Unfortunately, the best may not be that easy to find anymore. Since the popularity of Hoodia, many fake Hoodia products have crept into the market to fleece money off people. If you want only the best, you should take note of important product signs of authenticity.

Only Hoodia Gordonii

Not every Hoodia plant is the same. This is why the first thing you should read is the product ingredient. Just because a product says it has Hoodia, it doesn’t mean that it has the right kind of Hoodia. The right products to pick are the ones that contain Hoodia gordonii. This is the only species known to keep appetite at bay. Take note too that it has to specifically come from Africa. Products that claim to have Hoodia from Latin America and Asia aren’t authentic Hoodia products.

Proof of Authenticity

Hoodia products should be certified. Buy only products that prominently display their CITES certification. This means that they get Hoodia only from Africa and that they have been legally allowed to. You could also look for a lab analysis certification. Only when a product has the right certificates are you assured of authenticity.

Always bear in mind the importance of certificates. A manufacturer needs these documents to legally obtain Hoodia from Africa. Hoodia gordonii is actually already considered rare and endangered. This would mean that not every Hoodia product company can get hold of actual Hoodia.

Reviews

You are still a long way from finding the best Hoodia product. This is even if you find authentic Hoodia products. Various authentic products have different levels of effectiveness and quality. If you really want to get the best, you should find out from consumers themselves what truly works. You can find consumer reviews from product review and ranking sites. Some users may also be able to offer you buying advice in forums.

Hoodia Sites

The best products also have the best sites. If you think that a site looks hastily put up and badly maintained, do not buy from it. A company that takes the time and effort to make their online store front presentable shows that it is determined to offer only the best. Many of these great product sites also offer extra help to customers. You may be able to find a lot of good information about Hoodia and weight loss in these sites.

Guarantees

The best products have guarantees. These don’t just protect consumer interests. Guarantees are also a proof of a company’s belief in its product. They believe that their product is so good that they would be willing to stand by it no matter what.

Before you jump on guarantees though, you have to check the guidelines first. Some manufacturers of fake Hoodia may only use a money back guarantee as bait. In actuality though, they come up with all sorts of excuses to prevent customers from getting their cash back.

Hoodia gordonii is really nearly a miracle plant. Be careful though. If you really want to resolve your weight issues with Hoodia, make sure you have the best Hoodia product.

The Treadmill Warranty Should Guide Your Purchasing Decisions

April 23rd, 2008 by Torii Tompson
by Torii Tompson

If you are in the market for a treadmill, of course you will want to look at each treadmill’s motor, stability, weight limit, and other special features and compare them. Cost will also be an important factor when deciding which treadmill to purchase. However, one area that you should not overlook and forget to compare is the treadmill warranty.

There is as much variety with treadmill warranties as there is with the features and components. In fact, you can learn a lot about a treadmill just by its warranty. The warranty on any exercise equipment demonstrates the confidence the manufacturer has in its products. When you are shopping and comparing treadmills know that machines with short warranty periods, such as a 90 days or 12 months, are generally machines the manufacturer predicts will break down or need repairs often. If the manufacturer is nervous about insuring a specific machine past 90 days or one year, why should you feel confident purchasing it?

When shopping for treadmills, overlook the ones that have short warranties. Begin your shopping experience with machines that come with a minimum 3 or 5 year warranty on both the parts and motor. If you want a machine with an even longer warranty period, they can be found. For instance, there are some companies that offer lifetime warranties on their motors and treadmill frames. Granted, the initial cost of treadmills with lifetime warranties will cost more, but why shouldn’t they be? They are meant to last a lifetime!

Along with the length of the warranty, know what the warranty on a treadmill actually covers. Why purchase a treadmill if the warranty only covers part replacement? Do you know how to work on a treadmill and replace its parts? Do you know someone who does? If not, make sure the warranty on the treadmill you are thinking about purchasing covers both parts as well as in-home servicing.

When looking at a treadmill’s warranty, be sure to read everything including the fine print. Look for any loopholes or hidden costs in the coverage. Make sure you know what a treadmill’s warranty does and does not cover before you purchase it.

Having a treadmill break down can be a big hassle. Not only does it slow down your exercise program, but finding a way to get the equipment repaired can be daunting. That is why having a quality warranty on your exercise equipment is crucial. If you are torn between two or three different models, let the treadmill warranty decide for you. Compare them and go with the exercise equipment that the manufacturer stands behind over the long haul.

How To Lower Cholesterol Naturally

April 23rd, 2008 by Kathryn Soloff
by Kathryn Soloff

Lipid disorder is the term used by doctors for high blood cholesterol and triglycerides. Lipid disorder happens when you have high levels of fatty substances in your blood. Cholesterol and triglycerides are these fatty substances.

With lipid disorders your are at increased risk for heart disease and atherosclerosis.

It is not unusual for high cholesterol to be hereditary. High cholesterol is also associated with:

1/ Diets High In Fat

2/ Diseases including diabetes, hypothyroidism and kidney problems

3/ Different medications which include birth control pills, corticosteroids, estrogen, some diuretics and beta blockers

4/ Certain lifestyle factors that include lack of activity and alcohol abuse

Combining smoking with an existing high cholesterol condition puts you at greater risk for heart disease

Lipid disorders are usually more common in men than women.

The tests that doctors use to diagnose lipid disorders include:

a- A Lipoprotein Test

b- The Lipoproteina Analysis

c- An HDL Test

d- LDL Test

The type of treatment you receive will depend on your age, backround & whether or not you smoke. Other risk factors taken into consideration include:

* Diabetes

* An existing high blood pressure condition

* If you have a family history of heart disease

There are, of course, steps that you can take to reduce high cholesterol levels. This in turn will help to prevent problems with your heart and the risk of a heart attack. The following are some of the thing that you can do:

1- Eat a diet that is low in saturated fat. Include whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruit in your diet.

2- A daily exercise regimen and sticking to it.

3- If you are overweight, go on a diet.

4- Stop smoking.

5- Reduce your alcohol intake.

6- See your doctor for regular cholesterol screenings.

You doctor will recommend medication if lifestyle changes alone do not work.

The group of drugs most commonly prescribed by doctors to lower cholesterol art statins. They are very successful in lower cholesterol levels in a relatively short amount of time, usually within a couple of months. The bad news is that they are know to cause serious side effects.

Another alternative is to use natural herbs. The right herbs can be very mild and effective. The down side is that they may take up to six months to work because they are so mild. The benefit however is that there is no harmful side effects.

If you discover that you have high cholesterol you will have to continue with your diet changes and whatever treatment you choose for the rest of your life. By reducing your high cholesterol you will slow the progression of atherosclerosis. With the right dietary changes, this process can even be reversed.

Home Made Water Purifiers: A Cost Effective Solution?

April 22nd, 2008 by Barry Monteiro
by Trent Barrett

In Africa, women who do not have a clean water supply have been taught to pour water from one pitcher into another, using several layers of cloths to strain out contaminants between. This home made water purifier has been effective at eliminating a lot of water-borne disease in this poor region of the world, but you must ask whether this technique is either effective or wise when applied to a Western water system. Most home made water filters are more complex and involved than this, of course, but they still lack the controls you’ll find on commercial water purifiers.

Home made water purifier instructions you’ll find online are complex. They are often simple filters, but they are often more complex systems such as distillation. Still, there are some serious problems with the do-it-yourself approach to water filtration. Improperly filtered water can be a health hazard. It is worth of praise and understandable that you wish to save money by making your own filters, but you should recognize that if you do, you may spend just as much money as you otherwise would while also putting yourself and your family at risk.

First, home made water purifiers generally don’t tell you when they can no longer remove contaminants. Most professional grade water purifiers have some system whereby they will tell you to change filters or clean the purifier. Except for distilled water, you should assume that your home made water filter will need to be replaced, so you have to determine what the maximum safe use time for it is yourself. If you don’t change the filter when it’s saturated with contaminants, the result could be worse than if you used no filter, as fresh water running through will dissolve some of the contaminants already in the filter and give you a double dose.

Even if you use a distillation system or something else that supposedly removes all the contaminants from your water, you are likely to have a problem. For one thing, distillation removes even good minerals like iron, copper, and calcium, but it does not always remove chlorine, as chlorine is naturally a gas and will evaporate – and condense – right along with the water. In addition, distilled water that is not subsequently aerated will taste flat and lifeless, and your distillation system may add its own contaminants to your newly-purified water. You really need to know what you’re doing.

If you are determined to make your own home made water purifier, make sure you get a kit that helps you do it properly. Any good distillation system will use a multiple-filter system. Water should sit for a while to let the precipitates fall to the bottom, then be run through filtered layers, first of sand or diatomaceous earth, then a layer of activated carbon, and finally a second layer of diatomaceous earth. Each filter should be separated from the others by a layer of gauze or mesh fine enough to keep the layers separate. The best systems will force water through the filter at pressure. Check your system when you’ve run some water through by allowing a glass of filtered water to sit for a day or two. Are there still precipitates? Does the water turn cloudy? Also, have the water tested for biological impurities. You often can’t see microbes, but that doesn’t mean they are not there and will not make you sick! In most cases, you’ll find it is cheaper and easier to simply purchase a commercial system, where everything has been pre-tested for you.

If you have children at home, you may be worried about finding recipes that they will love. There are many children’s vegetarian cookbooks that can be adapted for the alkaline diet by substituting certain vegetables. A lot of tasty fruits like apples, raspberries and strawberries are on the alkaline list. Sweet potatoes, which are a favorite of many children once they try them, are highly alkalizing foods and are good for the winter months. In the summer time, celery and other fresh veggies are a great snack and can be dipped in homemade hummus or a dip made from mayonnaise and lemon juice.

Cleanse to Lose Weight and Be Healthy

April 22nd, 2008 by Cindy Papp
by Cindy Papp

A healthy weight loss cleanse is ideal to jump start your metabolism, help you lose weight and keep it off. The diet used during a cleanse will naturally raise your metabolism and help keep it stimulated. Cleansing supplements include fiber and herbs that can help digest and eliminate built up waste. Since this extra burden on the body can be stored as excess weight or fat and can even make it difficult to lose weight, the cleanse is very important.

Understanding metabolism, how it works and how it is measured, you can more easily manipulate and speed up your own. Metabolism is a process that can be broken down into two basic parts. These are defined as how well your body assimilates nutrients and how well your body eliminates waste.

How well your body assimilates nutrients will depend on how strong your digestion is. Strong digestion can break food particles down into smaller parts allowing easier assimilation of the nutrients from these food particles. Is it possible to create stronger digestion without supplements or pills? Yes, read on.

The first stage of digestion happens in the mouth. Enzymes found in saliva start the digestive process and get the food ready to be further broken down later in the digestive tract. It is interesting to note that if food isn’t properly chewed (and mixed with saliva), it will not be properly digested later. Also, eat while relaxed to ensure your saliva is full of enzymes, as the more stressed we are, the less enzymes we are likely to have.

Next, be sure to start your day with one or two pieces of raw fruit. Then start your lunch and evening meals with a raw, green salad. The fruit will work with your body’s natural cleansing process that’s already at work in the morning. The raw green salads will help stimulate your digestive enzymes and get your body ready for the heavier meal to come.

And most importantly, don’t overeat. Overeating puts a burden on digestion and can cause it to become very sluggish. When we eat the correct portions, our bodies can more easily break down (digest) food and move it through. A general rule of thumb for portions is as follows: a protein serving the size of your palm; 1 cup of starches or grains; and 2-3 cups of veggies per meal.

Use cleansing supplements – sometimes called colon cleansing supplements. A cleansing supplement program will help break down accumulated waste that may be stored as excess weight and/or fat, which ensures your second stage of metabolism is working efficiently. This is encouraging for any weight loss cleanse and important for the second part of metabolism – how well your body eliminates waste. Many of us are unaware that we need this, but think about it – an efficient body eliminates waste, it doesn’t store it as extra weight.

The Importance of Using Home Water Purifiers and Filters

April 22nd, 2008 by Trent Barrett
by Trent Barrett

Home water purifiers and filters are becoming increasingly important. Our municipal water systems are aging, and as they start to break down, which analysts predict will happen over the next two decades, we will increasingly be at risk from contaminated water supplies. Even if your supply remains safe, harmful chemicals like chlorine can sicken you, or weaken your lungs and immune system. And the safest water supplies are sometimes contaminated with things that cause unpleasant odors and tastes. A home water purifier can alleviate all these problems for you, taking the place of bottled water and ensuring you and your family have a safe and healthy water supply.

Your home water purifiers and filters are your last line of defense if your city water system does break down. Read the news. More often these days, we hear about some critical piece of infrastructure running into serious problems – steam pipes exploding in New York City, bridges collapsing in Minnesota, and let’s not even talk about New Orleans. City municipal water systems are also suffering from this infrastructure decay, but because the effects are less dramatic, you don’t hear about it on the evening news. Instead, you may notice that your water smells more strongly of chlorine than you remembered, or that it’s a little more cloudy than it used to be. These are warning signs of a slowly-deteriorating system.

Contaminants in your water supply, either added on purpose or because the municipal system can no longer remove them, are a health risk. Your home water purifiers and filters can remove all of them, and that’s a good thing. Chlorine, the most common added contaminant, is a poison; it’s added to water because it kills bacteria. In large concentrations, chlorine can literally melt skin; it is an acid. While the small amount in your water won’t harm you immediately, there may be dangers over time; because chlorine is naturally a gas, for instance, you inhale it during showers. It dries out your skin and hair; if it’s used at too high a level in your city water, it can damage your hair, change the color of your dye job, and even make you sick.

Chlorine is only one of several possible dangers found in our water systems. Older street supplies are sometimes still lined with lead, and while water at the treatment plant measures clean, you may still have lead entering your house through the delivery system. The old lead piping in most cities is being replaced, but older homes and neighborhoods often still have hidden lead in their water delivery system. This and other heavy metals can be removed with a good home water purifier.

If you’re starting to wonder about your own water supply, do some testing. You can get a test kit online or, sometimes, from your city water company to check your household water. Even if you don’t find a problem, test annually. Our deteriorating systems, fine today, may not be so fine tomorrow. If you discover your water supply is borderline, it might be time to buy a home water filtration system to eliminate contaminants. You’ll be able to stop worrying, and you’ll save a fortune on bottled water.

Herbs for Arthritis Relief

April 22nd, 2008 by Margret Wilkins
by Kaye Fretz

There is no shortage of herbs for arthritis. It is true that they may not really be able to cure arthritis. They can however greatly reduce the pain and swelling that arthritis patients commonly suffer from. These herbs may be a good option for you if nothing else works. Among the possible herbal options are:

-Stinging Nettle- This herb has a similar effect as NSAIDs. It reduces inflammation since it has anti inflammatory properties. It also contains boron which is a mineral which is especially recommended for arthritis patients. Nettle leaves can be steamed and eaten to relieve arthritis inflammation.

-Devil’s Claw- The claw-like shape of this herb’s fruits is the reason behind its unusual name. The herb originates from Africa and is good relief for pain and arthritis swelling. There is also some experiential evidence that the herb can assist in promoting greater joint movement.

-Ginger- This common herb is also good relief for inflammation and pain. The best thing about it is that it apparently has no side effects. Ginger is easily available and can be drunk as tea or eaten mixed with food or dish sauce.

-Celery- This is another herb mixed with food that can be good for arthritis. That is probably what early Europeans probably discovered when they started using this herb. The herb can reduce inflammation. It also has potassium which is a beneficial nutrient for people with arthritis.

-Red Pepper- It is common knowledge that red pepper has pain relieving properties. It is therefore considered one of the best herbs for arthritis. As some would already know, it is the capsaicin in red pepper that interferes with how people perceive pain. The substance also causes the generation and release of more endorphins. One other beneficial substance in red pepper is salicylate. Aspirin contains this substance.

-Alfalfa- Arthritis patients receive vitamin and mineral nourishment from alfalfa. This herb is also a diuretic. Alfalfa in tea form is a good supplement for arthritis patients. It is advisable though for arthritis sufferers not to take it in its powder form since it can worsen the symptoms of the condition.

-Angelica- One species of this herb is also popularly known as dong quai. This herb is used for both the relief of inflammation and arthritis pain. Like other herbs, this one can be taken in tea form.

There are more herbs that can be used as arthritis pain and inflammation relief. People who have been taking a variety of herbs have had a lot of positive experiences. It is still very crucial though to remember to be cautious with taking herbs. A couple of herbs or a combination of herbs may promote negative reactions when taken with some prescription medications.

Another danger to herbs is the lack of dosage standards. Various people suggest different ways and quantities of taking herbs. There is always a danger that you could take too much or too little of herbs.

Herbs for arthritis should be taken with your doctor’s knowledge. This is the best way to be sure that you are not putting yourself in danger.

Treatment For Back Pain

April 21st, 2008 by Tyler Beartoes
by Tyler Beartoes

New ways to treat back pain are always being looked at, especially when these new treatments do not involve taking any drugs. People who have a history of back pain often use physical therapy and exercise to prevent the recurrence of back pain. This type of treatment is a deterrent to back pain and should be tried during periods of no pain.

There can be some bad and undesirable side effects when using medications called NSAID’s. This is why treating for the pain is one thing but finding a cure for the problem that causes the pain is what people want.

If there is no other way to fix a spinal problem, surgery may be required. Many patients and doctors try to avoid surgery to treat back pain. Invasive procedures such as surgery can often bring about additional complications so other more conservative methods are preferred.

Back Pain

April 21st, 2008 by Bob Beartoes
by Bob Beartoes

The second most common neurological problem in the United States is back pain. The most common is headache.

Most of the time back pain is caused by a minor fall or lifting a heavy object. What you suffer is actually a muscle pull or ligament strain. These types of injuries cause pain that lasts only a few days.

Anti inflammatory medicine will sometimes give you relief. Ibuprofin is a popular type of pain reliever used for this purpose. You should also consider treatment by using ice and rest. Over the next 5 to 7 days your back pain should improve. Back pain is not only related to adults. In fact, 10 to 40 percent of teenagers experience some form of back pain as well. Pain relief for teenagers and adults should be similar.

Muscle fatigue and low back pain can often be very debilitating, insidious with its gradual onset or even arbitrary when a sudden occurrence happens and there is no obvious precipitating event. The back is a very complex anatomical structure so it is difficult to diagnose. The back is made up of bone, ligaments, muscle, tendons and a major network of neurological components.

All countries have back pain problems and there is much knowledge about the subject. Even with the medical advances we have on the subject we do not know the many causes of back pain. In fact a lot of times back pain is caused by other body parts not functioning as they should. Fatigue in the muscles or low back pain are not a diagnosis but just a symptom. More than 80% of all Americans suffer from some type of back pain at some time in their lives. Back pain is one of the leading causes of disability for younger people under 45 years old.

Back pain is very common and can be classified into three different categories, based on the length of the symptoms:

Acute back pain – Pain will normally last for less than six weeks. Subacute back pain – Pain lasts for anywhere between six to twelve weeks. Chronic back pain – Any pain that lasts longer than twelve weeks.

Some of the common causes are:

Nerve impingement problems (pinched nerve) herniated disc problems (slipped disc or ruptured disc) spinal degeneration osteoarthritis muscular problems sciatic back pain

To provide detail of the discs in your back, in cases of degenerative disc disease, isthmic spondylolisthesis, herniated discs or spinal stenosis, MRI scans are very useful and are helpful in ruling out tumors or spinal infections. MRI scans have become the most prevalent test to check the lumbar spine. These MRI scans don’t require needles and are painless. MRI scans are usually taken after x-rays have been taken.

Muscle relaxants are used to treat back spasms. They are a bit controversial for a few reasons. These type of drugs are known to make you sleepy and if used for long periods of time, can cause a dependency for the drug and have been known to cloud the mind. Muscle relaxants are beneficial to treat back spasms but need to be taken with caution.

Using a Colon Cleanser in 6 Steps

April 21st, 2008 by Ellen Parry
by Ellen Parry

The colon is a long hollow tube and a part of our large intestine that removes the water from digested food. The remaining material called stool is then moved to the rectum until it can leave the body through the anus. Therefore, the colon is a very important body-cleansing organ that needs to be detoxified so that it can continue to do its job well. You will need a colon cleanser.

Choose a product that is made of natural ingredients.

Some producers make products that have various chemicals, additives, and compounds that may not react well with your body or your condition.

Be wary of products that contain Cascara, Psyllium, and Senna. Cascara and Senna have been cited to cause irregular heartbeat because of electrolyte imbalance and potassium loss. Psyllium obstructs the gastrointestinal tract.

Know the type of cleanser you need. There are two types of colon cleansers-fiber-based and oxygen-based.

The colon cleansers that are fiber-based use fiber to remove toxins from the intestines and colon. These fiber-based cleansers flush out the waste from the body thoroughly. The colon cleansers that are oxygen-based use oxygen to remove the toxins from the body. They also serve to detoxify the colon.

If you are not sure which colon cleanser you should use, or if you should use one at all, consult your doctor or a medical professional. You can also try both and see which one gives you the better result.

Check the quality and price of the product before you invest on it.

Price does not usually dictate quality. Some cheaper products may work better than the mor expensive ones, but the results vary from person to person. But to make the best of your purchase, ask for other people’s advice and opinion, and read product reviews, too.

Colon cleansers that are available over the counter may be a lot cheaper than the well-known branded cleansers, but they usually d not offer the same extensive cleansing regimen. The colon cleansers that cost more and are well-reviewed are those that thoroughly clean the bowels and remove toxins from the body.

Opt for a colon cleanser that gives a comprehensive cleansing regimen.

The colon cleanser should be able to clean your body of all the toxins and parasites in your intestines. These products usually cost more, but they do include parasite removal and probiotics, which saves you more instead of buying separate products.

Know how long you will keep on using the colon cleanser.

Colon cleansers are recommended for use in one to two months.

Most oxygen-based cleaners are safe to take everyday, since they keep the colon refreshed and clean. But fiber-based cleansers should not be taken too often and too much because they build dependency.

Colon cleansers with Senna can cause damage to the nerves in the colon after prolonged use.

Watch your diet during the course of your colon cleansing.

You do not have to fast before you use a colon cleanser, but you do have to avoid overeating. You also have to take a lot of liquids and water to replenish all the fluid that is cleansed from your body.

Using a fiber-based or oxygen-based colon cleanser regularly will guard your body from toxins that may circulate back, and prevents constipation and loose bowel movements. But if you develop side effects, bloating, or undesirable effects from the use of colon cleansers, stop using it until you consult a doctor.

Causes of Hip Pain and Lower Back Pain

April 21st, 2008 by Robert Beartoes
by Robert Beartoes

At one time or another we all experience some form of back pain. Usually caused by a bump or accident of some sort, the back pain is very easy to treat.

Controlling the occurrences of back pain can sometimes be very difficult, making it harder to control the occurrences of the back pain. For instance, back pain can be the symptom of certain spinal conditions that many are born with and not discovered until the pain starts. You can help reduce and eliminate the pain once you can find out the source of the pain.

Consider these things if you are under 60 years old Age and lower back pain do play a role. Older people, usually those over 60, are categorized into a separate group. They often suffer from conditions such as arthritis and other degenerative conditions that are known to cause back pain.

For the people who are under sixty, there are really 3 main group or categories. These are characterized by some common symptoms:

Disc herniation – results in pain and numbness in the legs. Can get worse with long periods of sitting or standing. Degenerative disk disease – this is characterized with pain when making certain moves or specific positions. This can also become chronic and extremely painful. Stress fractures – pain when walking or standing and this can be very painful also. Information for the older people One common cause of pain for the elderly is osteoarthritis. This health condition leads to stiffness and usually is worse in morning or evening.

Pain in the legs is caused by another back pain problem specific to the elderly known as lumber spinal stenosis. The pain is caused by putting pressure on the spinal nerves. De generative disc disease is a major cause of low back pain.

It is very common and often becomes chronic back pain. Muscles in the back often spasm causing this chronic pain. The degenerated disc becomes inflamed causing mechanical pain. A proposed method for alleviating degenerated disc disease is by replacing the bad disc with an artificial one.

Other less known conditions for low back pain There are some lesser known conditions for lower back pain causes and treatments. These lesser known conditions can make it difficult to diagnose a lower back pain cause as well as to figure out a treatment.

Causes of lower back pain:

Spinal tumor Sacroiiac joint syndrome Sciatica Infection Fibromygalia Piriformis syndrome Poly neuropathy These are a little more uncommon causes for lower back pain, however they can be treated when diagnosed properly.

Some good news If you can determine the cause of lower back and hip pain, it is easier to find a treatment for the pain. By treating the back pain correctly you will be better off.

Beneficial Colon Cleanse Products

April 21st, 2008 by Anthony Pang
by Dr Pam AP Jun

I’ve been experiencing a few minor health issues lately, such as fatigue and general sluggishness. I visited my doctor, who immediately ruled out any serious underlying causes.

His only advice was the usual stuff about limiting my intake of caffeine, eating healthier food, and getting enough good rest.

The problem is that I am already doing all those things, but haven’t noticed any improvements in my condition at all. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to consult with an expert in alternative medicine, so I made an appointment last weekend.

He suggested that I go through a body detoxification — not from drugs or alcohol, of course, but from all the harmful toxins that I’ve consumed in processed foods over the years.

He then recommended several colon cleaanse for me to try.

I have never used colon cleanse products before, so I wanted to do a bit more research on my own before going out and buying anything.

Specifically, I wanted to find out if these colon cleanse products would truly be beneficial for my body, and whether or not I’d have to worry about any side effects.

I also was looking for information about how to do the procedure, since I wasn’t sure what would be involved.

I’ve spent the last few days checking different alternative medicine websites to read about why periodical body cleansing is helpful.

There are hundreds of cleansing sites out there that address all the different aspects of detoxification and cleansing, so I was able to find a lot of excellent information about the general process, as well as details about what the over-the-counter colon cleanse products actually do.

For example, I have learned that residue from food toxins can build up at various spots along your colon’s wall, which can then cause irritation, inflammation, and reduced function in the long run.

Furthermore, the residue collects excess mucus and additional waste, thereby becoming a prime breeding ground for bacteria.

The bacteria can cause a whole host of physical ailments, including the fatigue I’ve been suffering from.

Good colon cleansing products can remove this waste, and resolve the health issues stemming from those harmful buildup.

After reading this info, I definitely wanted to try colon cleanse products for myself. I pulled out the list of recommendations that the specialist had given to me, and looked those items up online.

I found that these products were indeed highly rated by users, so I decided to go ahead and order two different ones. The online website I went to offered full cleansing kits for a big discount and free shipping, which made my decision even easier.

My colon cleanse products are now on the way and should be here within the next couple of days. I can’t wait to see what kind of beneficial effects they’ll have on my body after the cleansing!

Infos – pH miracle diet basics

April 21st, 2008 by Amanda Marlenti
by Amanda Marlenti

The pH Miracle diet is the latest in the phenomenon of strike diets world. Health experts have warned that popular diets appear to be on the waves. While the 90′s were marked by the low-fat diet craze, in the last six to seven years have focused on diets low in carbohydrates such as Atkins, South Beach Diet, protein and energy Sugar busters. The pH Miracle diet is the focus of a lot of new interests.

The pH miracle diet is so attractive to people because it is a 180-degree turn from the high-protein, diets low in carbohydrates recent years. The pH Miracle Diet, also called the diet or alkaline Young Diet, after its creator Robert Young, has a totally different approach to nutrition. Holistic many doctors and nutritionists consider a more balanced approach to nutrition that takes the body of real needs into account.

Basically, the human body has a pH which is slightly alkaline. The theory is that because the human body to function in this pH, our diet should consist mainly of food alkaline. The standard American diet has many foods that are considered acidic, as animal protein, sugar, caffeine and foods. All these foods disturb the pH balance of the body and cause a lot of problems. Proponents of the diet pH Miracle say that all these foods acids disrupt the use of the body of alkaline minerals. These minerals are sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium that make people prone to chronic diseases.

This is the real crux of the importance of the pH diet. The nutrition and health community has come to realize that what a person puts into their body has a profound effect on their overall health. Although the mainstream medical community has emphasized a balanced diet including fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy products, the pH diet takes this a step further. It points out that the acidic foods actually rob your body of essential minerals. Those who follow the pH miracle diet are avoiding foods that can be disastrous to their health.

Many of the food we eat are commonly regarded as no-nose in the pH miracle diet. One of the most surprising omissions is the absence of wheat products. The FDA recommends that all wheat products to improve health. However, according to the pH of the diet, grains such as wheat, millet, oats and rice are acids and harmful. The alkaline grains of buckwheat, quinoa and spelt are favored by alkalizing benefits.

In general, all meat and dairy products had been omitted from the pH Miracle diet. If you are concerned proteins, goat milk is slightly alkaline. There are always the protein vegetarian options such as beans, tofu and some nuts and seeds. Most of the vegetables have alkalizing effect, except for the mushrooms. The fruits are limited to coconut, grapefruit, lemon and lime.

Those who have tried the diet miracle pH say they feel massive effects on their health in the first few weeks. Reducing the intake of processed foods and eat more vegetables is good advice for health for all, whether or not to follow the specifications of this diet. In fact, this has been one of the main criticisms of the diet miracle pH. Opponents say that if people are already eating fresh food and drinking plenty of water, then the diet will have no effect. They ignore the acid / alkaline balance theory.

Another important thing to consider is that there has been no scientific testing of the theories behind the pH miracle diet. Also, many conventional medical doctors see no benefit to the program. However, the principles behind the diet are based on holistic medicine and Chinese medicine, which have been around for centuries. The ph Miracle diet principles are currently being studies at John Hopkins’s university and by Dr. Neil Solomon of the United Nations. Soon the critics may have to re-evaluate their stance on the diet’s scientific basis.

The Pilates Reformer – Training For Core Excellence

April 20th, 2008 by Charles L Cory
by Charles L Cory

At first glance, the Pilates Reformer looks like a refugee from the medieval times. Something that might have been used to extract information from less than willing participants! A closer examination reveals that the Pilates Reformer is actually quite an elegant machine and something that has been well made for what it is designed to do.

Explaining what the Pilates Reformer actually does wouldn’t make a lot of sense without actually explaining what Pilates is and how it is intended to work.

The aim of a Pilates workout is to improve your core strength, rather than just your external appearance. It pays particular attention to the stomach muscles (abdominals) and the back muscles, which quite honestly are key to any serious workout anyway.

There are a number of basic principals associated with Pilates. These were not created specifically by the creator of Pilates, but by coaches and instructors. Broadly speaking, they can be divided into the following categories: Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Breath, and Flow.

Centering refers to bringing the focus of the exercise to the centre of the body between the lower ribs and pubic bone. Energetically, Pilates exercises are sourced from this centre.

As the name implies, concentration means giving your full attention to the matter in hand. As with any exercise or fitness program, 100% concentration on the exercise will give you better results.

Control means undertaking the exercises in a controlled manner and not flinging yourself into them willy nilly.

Precision is referring to carrying out the exercises exactly as outlined by the instructor. Any deviation from these instructions will impact on the quality of the workout and the benefit that you receive.

Breath is referring to a coordinated breathing during the exercises.

Fluidity, grace, and ease are goals applied to all Pilates exercises. A smooth technique is important to the most beneficial use of Pilates.

You may well see that most of these principals are common sense. At least they certainly will be if you have ever been serious about your exercise. If you are new to exercising, and Pilates in particular, then please take the principals listed above as read and you will find that Pilates will be able to do a great deal for you.

Now that we have an understanding the basic principles and core strength philosophy of Pilates, we can better understand how the Pilates Reformer can help us with our Pilates workout. It has been designed to make each of the principals as easy to carry out as possible, with its fine tuned resistance and smooth operation. Used properly, the Pilates Reformer can dramatically improve your core strength, which is after all, what Pilates is all about!

The Best Ideas on Getting Rid of Stretch Marks

April 20th, 2008 by Rachel Starks
by Rachel Starks

Stretch marks are often the results of a sudden loss or gain of weight. They are often triggered by such things as pregnancy, rapid weight loss or gain and even body building. But what most people are unaware of is that they also affect men. Around forty percent of the male population has stretch marks present on their body. Add to that all the women who live with this condition, I think it is fair to say that a very large number of people face this problem.

Fortunately there plenty of ways to prevent and even reduce the appearance of stretch marks. With all the advancements in technology the market is now flooded with stretch marks treatments. Many of those are effective and easy to use. The following are some of the options that can be considered while getting rid of stretch marks.

Smooth them Away

Many products take the form of lotions and creams that are specially designed to help you get rid of stretch marks. They are mostly useful when used in the early stages of the stretch marks creation process. From women who are pregnant to women and men who experience a rapid gain or loss of weight, lotions and creams with the right type of vitamins represent a very good approach for getting rid of stretch marks. Vitamins A,C and E are a good idea, especially when the cocktail also includes other minerals.

Vitamin E is very effective for reducing the appearance of stretch marks while other vitamins and minerals are essentials in maintaining the moisture balance and texture of the skin. Other options that can be considered a good option for getting rid of stretch marks are cocoa butter and shea butter. It is important to know that the last two options can result in allergic reactions for some people and some caution is advised.

Laser Treatment and Abdominaplasty

For severe case of stretch marks, they can be removed completely through a procedure known as abdominaplasty. Abdominaplasty involves a tummy tuck which removes the excess skin in the stomach region. In many cases some fat can also be removed from the affected area. This procedure represents a very drastic measure and can also be very expensive. It is mostly effective in completely removing stretch marks from the abdomen region. It is a quick fix.

Laser therapy represent another option for getting rid of stretch marks. Although it is not as effective as adbominplasty because it cannot remove stretch marks completely, the results are quire dramatic. It is also a less expensive and less invasive method of getting rid of stretch marks.

How To Treat A Yeast Infection Through What Nature Provides

April 20th, 2008 by Kerris Samson
by Kerris Samson

There are several ways in which one is able to learn about how to treat a yeast infection and one of the easiest places to search for such information is by going online. This particular infection, which is something that many women suffer from in their lives, is caused by an increase growth of the yeast fungus in their bodies called Candida Albicans. The main symptoms that will tell a woman that she has this infection are a burning and itching sensation around the area infected. Plus for those whose infection is in the vagina they will notice a cheesy white discharge as well.

As soon as you think that you may have such an infection it is important that you arrange an appointment with your doctor as soon as you can. With this particular infection if left untreated can lead to other health complications and you may find that the only way in which it can be treated effectively is through the use of prescription medications.

Yet there are plenty of more natural ways in which it can be treated, but before you do start using them it is important that you discuss the matter with your doctor first. Often women choose to use natural ways of treating this particular infection, as most do not cause any unwanted side effects that you often get with more conventional types of medication. But as well as prescribed medication leading to other health complications the cost of purchasing such drugs can be somewhat prohibitive as well.

Along with natural remedies being so much safer and kinder on the body a lot of women find using them very easy. One of the easiest ways that women can help to fight and even prevent this infection from occurring is by having the right sort of diet in place. A good healthy diet can help to ensure that their digestive system functions correctly and helps to eliminate toxins and waste (including yeast) from their body. Below we now take a look at other kinds of natural remedies that are being used in order to treat this particular kind of infection.

1. Aloe Vera Juice is an extremely effective natural remedy for this infection as it contains antimicrobial properties that help to kill off the yeast. But along with actually working on the infection itself the juice contains properties that can boost a person’s immune system so this further helps with ensuring that the condition is brought under control. If you are going to be using this remedy for treating a yeast infection then there should be about 10,000 MPS (methanol-precipitated solids) in each liter of juice that you buy.

2. Garlic is another effective natural remedy for treating such infections as it has good anti-fungal properties contained within it. These just like those in the Aloe Vera juice work at helping to kill of the yeast that has resulted in the infection. You have a choice when it comes to how you take this particular treatment. You can either choose to take it in its natural state (a clove of garlic eaten raw) or you can take it in capsule form instead. A lot of women actually prefer to take it in capsule form simply because they do not like the smell or taste of the garlic when it is in the raw state.

3. One other effective remedy for this infection is natural yoghurt, which contains live cultures that again can fight the yeast and help to destroy it. This particular remedy can either be eaten and so provide the stomach which allows it to fight it from the inside or you can actually apply directly to the area that has been affected.

Along with the above ways for how to treat a yeast infection, there are plenty of other natural ones that are worth considering. As mentioned previously a quick search of the internet and you will find a list of ones that you may want to consider trying.

How Can I Achieve Easy Weight Loss?

April 20th, 2008 by Danny Wright
by Danny Wright

For people that need an easy weight loss method, the bad news is that no system is perfect; many regimes do work very well, although a great deal depends on the user and their doctor. Being overweight is the cause of many medical conditions which require long term attention but obesity also affects the way we see ourselves as well.

Personal commitment to achieving a desired result is no different for people using an easy weight loss system as it is for anything a person tries to achieve. Losing weight can be for health reasons, self image reasons or both but whatever the reason, you must be sure that you’re doing it for your benefit and not another person.

Many factors affect how well your weight loss program will go including how much physical activity you have during a normal day, the type of food you eat, how many meals you have and when those meals are eaten. Don’t be too ambitious and set yourself impossible tasks like losing 30 pounds in less than a month; this is not sensible because it can have a vast impact on the entire body bringing about other health problems like anemia or heartburn.

To lose a realistic pound in weight each and every week all you need to do is reduce your food intake or exercise enough to loose 500 calories each day. Most of us eat too much and definitely an excess of junk foods which we shouldn’t rely on the way we do although it is not a good idea cut out everything you enjoy.

Stress can be a large determining factor in how much food is consumed and many women will eat more because they feel low or insecure and when they put on weight they feel worse which continues the cycle. Problems occur when medical conditions arise from overeating, like diabetes which is on the increase but we must not forget other diseases like cancer, heart conditions and raised blood pressure. The psychology behind each persons weight gain is as important as the method of easy weight loss used because if this is not addressed, there is nothing to stop the weight being piled back on faster than it was before.

One aspect that also needs to be included is how the person pursues the subject of their weight loss program as those who take a more relaxed approach are usually more successful. The one thing that has shown to be true no matter what you do in life is that being positive about something is more likely to make it happen. Most people who have maintained their weight loss have found themselves with more energy and actually like themselves more because they have achieved something special.

Once the effects of an easy weight loss program are felt by the dieter, they feel more positive about the future and realize the result they want to achieve is possible.

Top Ten Ways to Get Hypertension

April 19th, 2008 by Christian Goodman
by Christian Goodman

While doctors say that there are no direct cause of Hypertension, a number of lifestyle factors have been proven to raise blood pressure. Here is my very own Top Ten Causes of Hypertension.

10.) Being stressed. Too much work can give you unnecessary stress that stays with you even after you leave the office. Stress has been proven to cause several sicknesses, one of which is hypertension.

What you can do is pace your work throughout the day, doing the harder tasks earlier on in the day.

9.) Worrying too much. This causes anxiety which has been proven to raise blood pressure. Making this a habit can cause as much damage as chronic hypertension, some experts say.

Some common anxiety remedies, such as meditation, Yoga, or massage, may help you cool down.

8.) Eating the wrong things. Unhealthy food can cause your blood pressure to rise, even though you are not overweight or you exercise regularly.

Cholesterol, trans fats, and salt are the “bad stuff” that we consume. You can use the new food guide pyramid as a guideline to help you, and your blood pressure, get back on track.

7.) Lack of exercise. We spend most of the day sitting down, at work, school, or at home. This can lead to obesity, and obesity can lead to hypertension.

Get up and walk the last few minutes to work, use the stairs instead of the elevator, and play a sport during the weekends.

6.) Being overweight. This is the brainchild of the previous two ways to get hypertension. Inadequate eating and exercising habits will force your heart to deal with all that extra weight.

Good eating habits and exercising habits should make you lose weight and lower your blood pressure.

5.) Too much caffeine. A lot of people rely on coffee to keep them energized the whole day. What they don’t know is that caffeine has been proven to increase blood pressure temporarily, and the more they drink coffee in one day, the more it becomes sustained.

Limit coffee intake to two cups (24 oz.) a day, and you will be okay.

4.) Binge drinking. We normally deal with all the stress and anxiety by binge drinking. This however causes blood vessels to contrict and increase your blood pressure by about 10%. If you have hypertension, you need to avoid drinking too much alcohol. One glass of wine or a can of beer a day should be your limit.

Of course, you can screw the whole thing and just follow my suggestions in #1, but I’m getting ahead of myself. Now for the top three:

3.) Smoking. Each stick you consume makes your blood pressure to increase by 5-10 mm Hg. Also, the nicotine decreases the amount of oxygen in the blood, making your heart work double time to keep the body’s cells healthy.

Stopping this habit will give you health benefits within minutes, instantly.

2.) Not getting enough sleep. People who lack sleep (less than six hours of sleep a day) are doubly prone to have hypertension than those who sleep right.

If you don’t get enough sleep, your heart will work overtime to make you cope up with the energy that you need. If you are getting less than six hours of sleep a day, you should at least take midday catnaps. These have been found to reduce the risk of heart disease.

And the number one way to get hypertension?

1.) Not getting my hypertension program. My clients have tried to do all the tips I’ve given to avoid the first nine items, but only when they used my program did they lower their blood pressure to ideal levels-and stayed there.

Reliv Leads

April 19th, 2008 by Reliv Leads
by Reliv Leads

The last thing you want to have happen is that you end up with the sole responsibility of building your business through leads. Reliv is one of those good companies and to have a business opportunity with them would be a good idea if the company had a good prospecting plan in place. There are many quality companies that produce products and provide income opportunities to the public..

I personally don’t want to call anyoneItsGoodBusiness.net allows me to buy cusomers not leads. When anyone decides to join a MLM or Network Marketing Company they are hoping that they will be able to create additional streams of income. They pour their heart and soul into the new business only to find out that they had to sell the products to others and then also convince people to join their organization.

Think about it! If a lead was so good why would the lead companies sell them for peanuts. You can buy several thousand to tens of thousands of leads for a couple of hundred dollars to upwards of thousands of dollars. The leads that have been purchased are tired and sold over and over again. The new business person resorts to purchasing leads that have been called many times and don’t want to hear from someone else about another vitamin or duplicated product. These leads have been pretty much picked over but even if they aren’t once you get the lead, you still have to call them and sell them on your business.

I have done it and don’t like it! I have heard stories of people being hung up on, cursed at, and had to listen to people tell then that they wish they could get off the list that is being sold. I don’t like to call anyone and try to sell them to come into my business. That is why I buy http://itsgoodbusiness.net customers and not leads. I refuse to purchase a lead and call anyone. So when you buy the list you are not getting a quality name but a name that has a history of being sold over and over again to unsuspecting people who are trying to build a business.

I get business proposals that come across my desk all the time from clients wanting me to invest in their business, or to look at it, and give them my feedback. Usually when they want my feedback they are really looking for me to read it and get excited about their business. Most of them are the same old thing, a MLM or Network Marketing opportunity that they have received from an associate that they want me to evaluate and give them my opinion. A lot of times they want me to invest with them. When I look at them I see the same common thread running through each and every one of them. They are opportunities that require massive amounts of buying leads and phone work. When I see this I stay away from these because I don’t want to call anyone and try to convince them to join a business that I know will not produce the promises that were made.

As I kept reading, The one that got my attention!, I saw what really triggered my mind, and made me realize that this is a totally different approach and that no other MLM company had anything like it. Although I read the business proposals out of courtesy I don’t recommend them, until I got one that got my attention. This one was different and had a totally unique business model. I could not find anything like this on the internet except the company proposed in the plan. What was this unique concept, buying customers. Although many others did too this company was unique in that it promoted Wellness and Wealth together. I looked at the products and saw that they were powerful and promoted wellness. It was a Nutraceutical Company that had a whole new approach to the MLM and Network Marketing Industry.

Buy Customers not leads I kept reading and learned that this company has the unique ability to sell direct to the consumer and then once the consumer buys the product they sell it to the Business Affiliate. I crawled the website and read everything that I could trying to find out if I was looking at this in the wrong way. I had never heard about buying customers and so I wasn’t sure that I was reading it correctly. I called several people to verify the information and then I talked to a person who had been doing it for a while and they confirmed the information. No phone calls to leads who don’t want to be called, all you do is purchase the customer from the company and get the commissions.

You join the above business and I will show you exactly what you need to do to become successful with this business. You see, you must have a business that everyone needs. There really is a secret to successfully promoting a home business on Google, and as you can tell, I am very good at what I do. I will share insider secrets to promoting successfully on Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask.com and all the other major search engines. I will give you specific instructions on exactly how to accomplish what you want to accomplish on the net. I will give you specific instructions on exactly how to accomplish what you want to accomplish on the net. You must learn to develop that business in such a way that people find your information, just like you have found mine. You must realize that in order to make money fast, you must be equipped with the business plan, training and mentoring that will lead to that success. Without this, you are going to be just another sad statistic of the mass of people that just do not understand how to market successfully on the net.

I thought I had heard it all but not this time. I said “This is like a real Business.” I keep reading and trying to find the flaws but none. So I went to a meeting at http://itsgoodbusiness.net and listened to Tom Prendergast talk about how he has gotten increased results every month for seven years. In other words his check has gone up every month since he started simply by buying customers. Many producers are already looking at this model and planning on leaving their existing companies. But just think you can never lose your customers since they are customers and not someone’s downline. This is a new innovation that has been around for almost ten years but as it catches on it will drive the other MLM or Network Marketing Companies wild because they can’t compete. It will pull their producers away from them since no one likes to make unnecessary phone calls. This makes your business stable and solid.

Wishing you Great Success in 2008 Wayne Harrold, MBA, SEO-Master http://itsgoodbusiness.net (330) 232-3314 Skype ID: wayne_gold

You may have developed one of the strongest abs in the world. If you are still covered in body fat, you want get the credits for your hard work.

The process of building six pack abs is three fold. You have to focus on three areas to get the results you want. The first focus area is muscle building. More muscle mass will help you burn fat faster. Second focus is cardio exercising. This article will examine the last focus area, dieting.

When people think about dieting they often think of a plan over a certain period of time. It is not. Diet is what you eat. To change your diet in a positive direction you need to change what you eat today with healthier alternatives. Choose darker bread and use vegetables instead of majonese. Skip some after dinner snacks and implement some healthy fruit or a plate of salmon with some tomatoes fried in olive oil.

To keep you metabolism running high all day I recommend 5 to 6 meals. When you eat that on a regular basis you body will always have some food to work with to build you stronger. Your body will also know that it will not be starving so it will stop saving extra fat for harder times.

Store some extra meals in the fridge or in the refrigerator for easy access. Also carry an extra meal with you for work or if you are going places where these types of meals are hard to find.

Proteins are the building blocks of your muscles. You need a good amount of proteins each day for your muscles to grow. You will find proteins in products like lean meats, fish, chicken, beans, lentils, grains, nuts or seeds. You can also us a protein shake to complement for the need of proteins.

How to Lose Lots of Weight Fast

April 19th, 2008 by Brock Elliott
by Brock Elliott

For people who are serious about losing weight, the discovery of the Hoodia plant has made quite a stir amongst the scientific community; this natural remedy could not have been found at a better time. In typical fashion, the manufacturers of slimming and dietary supplements have been quick to recognize the potential of Hoodia weight loss products; each year the number of people becoming overweight is increasing so the market for this plant is huge. Although you may have heard the name, do you know anything about this unusual and rare plant?

Well it is actually a cactus-like plant with 13 species. One species in particular, Hoodia Gordonii, is being investigated for use as an appetite suppressant. It grows in the Namib and Kalahari deserts in South Africa, having the unique attribute of reducing or even eliminating appetite. In fact, this cactus is so good at reducing the appetite that it is considered, by medical science, as the most effective appetite inhibitor on the planet. This is probably why it is in great demand.

Before being included in weight loss treatments, this cactus was actually studied in laboratories and even directly tested in first-hand experiments. One particular experiment included a team of people from the BBC who were only given a single Hoodia leaf to eat. The entire team wanted nothing else to eat or drink for the rest of the day.

Hoodia weight loss products are all the more effective given the fact that they are completely free from side-effects. There are no unpleasant digestive problems or heart rhythm disturbances that often happen with other appetite inhibitors. Users also have the additional benefit of knowing that they will not feel tired whilst they are using it as it supplies the correct amount of energy and reduces the desire to eat.

Wonderful as it is, it does not mean that you should stop eating healthily or drinking regularly. The purpose of the Hoodia weight loss pill is not to starve yourself but to control unnatural and unnecessary food cravings; however, just because a person doesn’t feel hungry, they still need to eat, otherwise their health will suffer. Hoodia is an ideal method of controlling the appetite of people who cannot control their own.

It is important to mention that products containing the true ingredient are quite expensive as this plant is quite rare. This explains the high production costs. In many areas where a product is expensive, unauthentic Hoodia weight loss pills and other supplements allegedly containing the plant are readily available on the internet. Be warned if you see them at very low prices, it is unlikely to be the genuine product. Be prepared to pay a premium for any product containing Hoodia as it is considered to be the best natural appetite suppressant in the world. Avoid those offers that appear to be ‘too good to be true’.

Want to Lose Weight?

April 19th, 2008 by Brock Elliott
by Brock Elliott

Whilst every new method of losing weight gets a great deal of publicity, it seems that the excitement surrounding the Hoodia plant may be completely justified; for many people this plant has great potential. The slimming industry has been quick to capitalize on the effectiveness of Hoodia weight loss supplements; products containing extracts of this plant are highly sought after. You may have heard about its properties, but what else do you know about it? For instance, where does it originate from?

Well it is actually a cactus-like plant with 13 species. One species in particular, Hoodia Gordonii, is being investigated for use as an appetite suppressant. It grows in the Namib and Kalahari deserts in South Africa, having the unique attribute of reducing or even eliminating appetite. To date, nothing medical science has created or investigated has come anywhere near as close to this plant and as a consequence there is a great demand for products containing it as an ingredient.

For quite some time this remarkable cactus was studied by scientists and trials carried out on people to ascertain how effective it really was at suppressing the appetite. Many tests have been carried out but one that is notable surrounds the BBC team who went for a whole day without eating or drinking after just consuming one Hoodia leaf each.

Unlike many other appetite suppressants, Hoodia weight loss products do not have any side effects. One doesn’t need to worry about the adverse effects common to other weight loss products such as an abnormal heartbeat or digestive problems. Another benefit of using products containing extracts of this plant, is that users claim they do not feel tired even though they are not eating, as it provides a normal energy levels for the entire day.

Nevertheless, whilst it is being taken, the user should still drink plenty of fluids and eat a healthy diet. The idea of using the Hoodia weight loss pills on a regular basis is just to reduce the amount of food you normally consume; however, just because a person doesn’t feel hungry, they still need to eat, otherwise their health will suffer. Ideally, this is how Hoodia should be used, especially in obese people, just to control how much they eat.

Remember the cactus is found in remote areas and is rare so weight loss products containing the extracts will be expensive.

The Skinny On Today’s Diet Pills: Do They Work for Weight Loss?

April 18th, 2008 by Reagyn Miers
by Reagyn Miers

It can be frustrating when it comes time to consider diet pills. Do they work or don’t they when it comes to weight loss? Not only can they be expensive, but some simply aren’t going to be effective. The good news is there are some diet pills that do work when they are taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and active lifestyle. Still though, keep their roles in perspective. While they may provide some weight loss help, their overall effectiveness is limited.

Diet drugs have changed a lot over the past fifty years and while they are safer, they all come with their own risks. You shouldn’t start taking any diet pill before you are educated on how it works and what health risks and/or side effects you may experience while taking the drug. Most importantly, you should always consult with a doctor before taking any diet pill or supplement. Here is a rundown of a few of the most popular diet pills available today.

Meridia (sibutramine)

Meridia works on the brain’s appetite-control center and alters the chemicals norepinephrine and serotonin. These chemical regulate how full a person feels after eating. Meridia is available by prescription only and it intended for very overweight or obese individuals.

Meridia may be the answer for those individuals who are obese and are always hungry. It may help overcome that gnawing hungry feeling and may help a person feel satisfied. This drug is only given to people who are overweight and obese. It should not be used by someone wanting to shed a few extra stubborn pounds.

Before you start taking Meridia you should know that it can increase your blood pressure and it can also up your risk of having a stroke or heart attack. You should also know that the FDA is closely monitoring Meridia ever since it was banned in Italy for causing adverse reactions in consumers.

Byetta (exenatide) and Glucophage (metformin)

Byetta is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is an injectable diabetes medicine. Glucophage is also used for people with type 2 diabetes but it is an oral diabetes medicine. Both medications help control blood sugar levels.

Doctors will generally not prescribe patients Byetta or Glucophage unless they are type 2 diabetics, or they suffer from hormonal conditions that are linked to insulin resistance. The good news is if your doctor does prescribe these two medications they are more likely to be covered by your insurance company than other diet drugs.

Zimulti (rimonabant)

One of the shining stars in the weight loss industry is Zimulti but you won’t find it in the United States because at the time of this writing, it hasn’t been approved by the FDA. The FDA has been reluctant to approve it because is has shown to increase the risk of suicidal thoughts. You can find it, however, in the European Union under the name Acomplia.

Alli (orlistat)

Alli can be purchased over-the-counter. It is a reduced-strength version of Orlistat, which is a prescription obesity drug. Alli works for weight loss by limiting the amount of fat in the foods you eat from being absorbed by the body. The fat that isn’t absorbed is removed from the body by bowel movements. By limiting the fat that is absorbed in the body, Alli helps to reduce the number of calories absorbed.

You should know that while Alli works to keep fat from being broke down and stored in the body, if you eat too much fat you may experience loose, oily stools. Some people report having “accidents” and problems with leading and soiling. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended you limit your fat intake per meal to 15 grams or less.

Supplements

Don’t take any diet supplements until you know what you are consuming. There are some supplements, such as bitter orange extract, whose safety is being questioned. Bitter orange extract is often used as a replacement to ephedra. Ephedra was banned in the United States because it caused strokes and deaths-and a myriad of adverse reactions in consumers.

Two supplements which do appear to be safe and are rising in popularity are green tree extract and hoodia gordonii. EGCG, an antioxidant that helps boost metabolism, is found in green tea. Hoodia, on the other hand, has been shown to be a potentially effective natural appetite suppressant without any side effects.

What diet pills actually work for weight loss? As you can see, it depends on your situation and how you react to some of these drugs and supplements. What works great for one person may not work for you. Supplements may seem safer, but that is not always the case. The best solution for weight loss is diet and exercise. If you feel diet pills and supplements are necessary, then only look to them as a short-term aid and be sure to talk to your doctor first before taking them!

Tips on How To Stop Excessive Sweat

April 18th, 2008 by Jed Elaine
by Jed Elaine

Sweating is our body’s natural response to certain situations. When our body heats up as a result of physical exertion or ambient conditions, we sweat to cool it. When rubbing occurs due to movement between different parts of our body, we sweat to provide lubrication. We also sweat to excrete certain substance in our system to regulate fluid balance or simple to discharge waste. Sweating is thus a purposeful and necessary function.

We can over-sweat or under-sweat. The medical terms for them are Hyperhidrosis and Anhidrosis respectively. The former, better known as excessive sweat, is by far the more common of the two although the latter is usually much more serious and require certified medical attention. Millions of Americans have excessive sweat problem in varying degrees. Some are not even aware of their abnormality. The specific types of Hyperhidrosis are Axillary (armpit), Palmar (hands), Plantar (feet) and Facial (face).

Hyperhidrosis can be a condition on its own cause and existence or as a result of other ailments. The former is known as Primary Hyperhidrosis and is typically restricted to only specific areas of the body. The latter is known as Secondary Hyperhydrosis and is inherently tied to an underlying medical problem such as diabetes, thyroid, malignancy or other medical disorders. It also generally affects the entire body.

Primary Hyperhidrosis is rarely life-threatening but often tormenting especially when it’s accompanied by other unpleasant disorders like odor, dandruff and acne. It can also take its toll emotionally and psychologically over time. Complications and more serious secondary problems than excessive sweat itself have been known to develop as a result of it. It is hence necessary take measures to stop Excessive Sweat as it won’t be cure on its own.

Excessive Sweat can possibly be stopped by as simple as applying over-the-counter antiperspirants. Then, complex surgery is also possibly necessary along with other methods namely injections, oral medication, creams and other forms of topical therapy. All medical treatments have associated risk, side-effects and costs, no matter how small. It is therefore sensible to adopt a conservative approach especially when it’s not terribly pressing as in the case of stopping excessive sweat.

To play safe, start with natural and no-drug methods in your search to Stop Excessive Sweat. One very well-regarded DIY (do-it-yourself) home treatment is found in Stop Sweating And Start Living by Mike Ramsey. It is 100% natural, simple and practically negligible in terms of treatment cost. It’s highly recommended as a hygiene habit too even for those who don’t sweat excessively.

Slim Fast Diet: A Review

April 18th, 2008 by Kim Archer
by Kim Archer

So you need to lose some weight, and you’re considering following the Slim Fast program. Keep reading to see if this diet is right for you.

In the original Slim Fast diet, you made up a shake by mixing Slim Fast powder with skim milk, twice a day instead of meals. There were three flavors: vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. You would drink one of these shakes at breakfast and another at lunch, and then have a nutritious dinner of about 600 calories.

Today, there are several more products in the Slim Fast line-up. You can get pre-mixed canned shakes, snack bars in a variety of flavors, and soup mixes. You are allowed these products about three times a day. And a recommendation was added that you drink eight glasses of water every day.

That’s the short version of the Slim Fast diet. Next, we’ll take a look at the pros and cons.

Pros: Perhaps most importantly, you can lose quite a bit of weight on the Slim Fast diet if you combine it with an exercise program. It’s not difficult at all to follow the program. The shakes are quite portable and you can take them with you anywhere. You won’t have to pack a lunch for work. You don’t have to count your calories or go to meetings.

Cons: It’s hard to feel full after drinking your Slim Fast shake, and you might be longing for some real food at mealtimes. This makes it pretty difficult to stick with this diet for too long. There isn’t an abundance of fruits and vegetables on the plan, so you won’t be getting your fiber requirements and you’ll miss out on some important nutrients (although the shakes contain vitamins and minerals).

There’s no doubt you can lose weight on the Slim Fast diet, but given the disadvantages, you might want to use the Slim Fast products to replace a snack instead of a meal. The shakes are flavorful, but you won’t get the satisfaction that you do from eating a real meal.

As a final comment, regaining the lost pounds is not unusual for people who follow the Slim Fast plan. One woman lost 60 pounds in a year on the Slim Fast program, combined with moderate exercise. The next year, she gained it all back. The key to weight maintenance is to change your eating habits for the better. If you’ve been relying on the shakes for your meals, and then you stop taking them, you’ll be back to your old unhealthy habits in no time.

Recommendation: Because it’s not easy to stay with this diet for the long term, the Slim Fast plan is most suited to people who only have a few pounds to lose. Someone who wanted to lose a considerable number of pounds could start with this diet to shed some weight quickly, and then switch to a healthy food plan and continue to lose a pound or two a week.

With all the weight loss plans being promoted these days, it’s difficult to pick just the right one. When you’re considering the various diets, keep in mind that some quick-loss diets will work in the short run, but are not necessarily sustainable or as healthy as changing your eating habits for the better.

Medications for Anxiety-Millions Are Hooked

April 18th, 2008 by Robert Byrnes
by Robert Allen Byrnes

With so many people in the United States suffering with anxiety disorders, the rush is on to find more effective treatments for their discomfort. And medication is the first place they look. Medications for anxiety combined with other therapies are the foremost interventions used today. We’ll be looking at the medications available for the various anxiety disorders, how to properly use them and what they can or cannot do.

Let me warn you, these tongue-twisting names may floor you, but just remember, it’s what they do for you, not their difficulty in pronouncing that counts. Our purpose is not to impress you with our medical knowledge, but to help you make important decisions about your health aided by information from the ADAA. We begin with these cautionary reminders: anxiety medications do not cure, they reduce symptoms basically so that other therapies may be administered; they should be used only with your doctor’s permission and care; and it is not for you to abruptly decide to stop any of the medications for anxiety, you do that at the direction of your doctor.

We’ll begin our descriptions of the medications for anxiety by reminding you of beta blockers, antidepressants, and anti-anxiety drugs. Then we’ll zoom in on the newest line of antidepressants which you already know: these three SSRIs are Paxil, Prozac and Zoloft. They are prescribed to treat generalized anxiety and social anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder. How do they do it? They act by altering the serotonin level in the brain, which lowers the level of anxiety.

Tricyclics (TCA) are also antidepressants and these medications for anxiety are Sinequan (Doxeprin), Anafranil, and Vivactil, which, like the SSRIs, alter serotonin but also norepinepherine. Social anxiety is missing from the list of disorders treated by TCAs. Of all these classifications, SSRIs are the only ones federally approved; but generic equivalents are available for each of them.

There is still another class of antidepressants labeled the MAOI that work by blocking an important brain enzyme. You will find the drugs Nardil, Marplan and Parnate in this category of antidepressants which are prescribed generally for the disorders of panic, social anxiety, and posttraumatic stress.

Again, we recommend that before beginning any treatment including medication, you consult your doctor concerning both the benefits and the side effects of each of these drugs. There are other medical interventions such as beta-blockers and anti anxiety medication that are effective in relieving the symptoms of anxiety, but are usually short term treatment, and also carry some unpleasant side effects such as dependency and withdrawal symptoms.

As with all of us under medication of any sort, a common fear is one of being over-medicated to the extent of becoming addicted. Although this fear could certainly be realized due to careless oversight of what is happening with your anxiety medications, it doesn’t have to be. Both you and your doctor are responsible for seeing that side effects of the medications used are properly monitored and that the correct medications have been prescribed.

I hope by reading this article, your fears have been somewhat allayed, you understand that there are treatments available just for you, both through the use of medications for anxiety and psychotherapy and that you can be on the way to peace of mind and freedom from anxiety.

Gain Muscle and Weight From Lifestyle Changes

April 17th, 2008 by Davion Wong
by Davion Wong

A well-sculpted muscular look is one of the hottest things nowadays, thus all the rage about how to gain muscle and weight. Perhaps this is due largely to a generation obsessed with great physical looks. Moreover, more people have chosen an active participation in their fitness routines due to health reasons.

Obviously, you will not gain weight if you maintain you poor eating practices. The common tendency of underweight individuals is not eating on time, taking on poor amounts of food, or choosing those that do not contain nutrients for muscle building. When you do not eat on time, your body will soon lose its appetite for food and will continue to take in meals at very little amounts. It’s clear that you will not gain muscle and weight with this practice.

The truth of the matter is that to gain muscle and weight, you must be able to achieve the right combination of a weight gaining diet and a muscle building set of exercises. You cannot maintain your eating habits yet expect to gain a pound. In the same way, you cannot expect your muscles to develop if you do not stress them to a certain degree through muscle building exercises.

A protein rich diet should not be taken to mean as one high in red meat as this often has adverse effects in health when taken often and in high amounts. To gain muscle and weight, white meat like fish, chicken, and other sea foods are excellent sources of protein as well as beans, soy, and egg whites. As for carbohydrates, complex carbohydrates are better than simple ones. Complex carbohydrate rich foods include brown rice, yam, sweet potatoes, squash, and potatoes. Simple carbohydrates which can be derived form flour rich stuff like breads and cakes, have no nutrients and are loaded with trans fats.

It is also vital not to overwork yourself during workouts. You will also be able to maintain your bodybuilding workouts if you do not overstrain yourself. A high calorie but also diet plus a good muscle building plan will surely work. Through this you will gain muscle and weight effectively.

A combination of strength training and cardio exercises will help in developing muscles. These training routines will increase metabolism, resulting in improved appetite. An improved appetite will result in favorable weight gain.

After all, the goal is to build up on muscle and weight, not fat. The more muscle and the less fat there is in your body, the lesser is the risk for debilitating disease. The body will also be used to heightened workout in due time.

There is no magical potion for a better looking, muscular build. Relying on pills, supplement shakes, or multivitamins will be nothing without proper muscle training. You must work hard physically, to gain muscle and weight and you must read on my blog for useful tips in developing a nice shape that will be the envy of your friends.

Best Exercises For Pear Shaped Women – Revised

April 17th, 2008 by Lydia De Leon
by Lydia De Leon

From one pear shaped woman to another, I understand the frustrations involved in acquiring a lean and toned pair of legs. There are a few exercises and ways of exercising that I know help in losing the fat in the lower region and even out our whole body.

For starters, there are a few things we must accept so that we won’t beat ourselves up with frustration.

1. Accept the fact that you have a pear shape – we carry most of our body fat in the lower half of our bodies (hips, thighs and butt).

2. Look at your lower body as a place where fat accumulates. Example, fat is easily accumulated on the thighs, hips and buttocks and it is very hard to get rid of (but it can be done!)

3. Understand that it will take a lot of effort to lose fat in the lower half of your body.

If you can accept the above, then you’ll be armed with a more realistic mindset when working out and trying to lose fat. You’ll be able to be patient with yourself and won’t give up.

Now on to the good news!

1. It IS possible to lean out the hips, thighs and buttock areas.

2. You CAN have a great pair of legs!

3. You can balance out your upper body so that you are well proportioned and symmetrical.

So how do we slim down our lower bodies and achieve a proportionate upper body?

First, you will have to eat very clean and watch your fat intake. Stick with fruits, fibrous veggies, tuna, tilapia, chicken, lean meats and egg whites (high protein) Eat more of the green types of veggies and lots of salads. Eat starchy veggies (potatoes, rice, pastas etc…) in moderation. Drink lots of water.

When eating fruits, try to eat them in the morning, before your workouts. Try not to eat fruits after 2pm – 3pm. Best fruits: all kinds of berries, grapefruit, apples. Best veggies: brocolli, green beans, asparagus, green, onions, garlic, red, yellow, orange peppers, spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce.

Rules: Never fry your food. Grill, boil, steam, bake or pan fry with Pam Spray, never in a pan of oil. If you’re going to have a cheat day, make sure to do it early enough in the day so you can burn it off throughout the day. Never have a cheat meal at night. Try (if you can!) to only cheat twice a month (if you can’t do this, then start off with once per week). What is a cheat day: ONE cheat meal only! Not a whole day of cheating!

You will start to notice yourself getting smaller as a result of eating this way. The fat will start to burn off all over your body and your lower body too! You won’t have anymore use for your pants and skirts so you’ll end up buying a new wardrobe!

But this is not the whole story. In order to create those great lean legs, you will have to exercise specifically for your body type.

From my experience, pear shaped women need to focus on moderate to heavy weights alternating between very high volume reps and low reps in the lower half of their bodies, incorporating lots of cardio workouts in between.

The upper half of our bodies need a different plan all together.

To get that harmonious and even look all over, we need to use heavy weights to make our shoulder and backs wider and get sexy arms too. We shouldn’t fear lifting heavy. We can’t get big. To reassure you (or maybe not!), pear shaped women resist muscle far more than other body types.

Yes, I know it’s hard to hear, but even still, we can still get the toned, slim, harmonious and balanced body we desire so much.

Here is the exercise program that is giving me great results. Just be patient and keep your eyes firmly on your goal and determine never to quit. You will get that lean, sleek and sexy body that everyone wants to kill for.

So here is the exercise program I am using these days:

Thighs, hips and butt workout – 3 times per week.

Choose from a range of exercises specifically for the legs such as lunges, squats, butt blaster, leg presses, leg extensions, hip exercises, leg extensions and hamstring curls.

I choose 4 – 5 exercises for my lower body workouts.

For example:

Day 1: squats, lunges, leg presses, calves

Five sets for each exercise of 20 – 30 reps moderate weight. If I do heavier weights, then I do less reps (from 10 – 12 ). Rest 45 – 60 seconds between sets.

Day 2: Upper Body, cardio, abs Chest and Tri’s 3 – 4 exercises with heavy weights and 8 – 10 reps.

Day 3: With moderate weights, I do five sets of 20 – 30 reps. I do leg extensions, hamstring curls, butt blaster, calves. With heavier weights, I do from 10 – 12 reps. I rest from 45 – 60 seconds in between.

Day 4: Upper body – Upper Body, cardio, abs Back and Bicep. 3 – 4 exercises. 8 – 10 reps. Heavy weights.

Day 5: walking lunges, hip exercises, hack squats, calves Five sets each of 20 – 30 repetitions with moderate weight. If I do heavier weights, then I do less reps (from 10 – 12 ). Rest 45 – 60 seconds between sets.

Day 6: Upper Body – Shoulders, cardio, abs. I choose from 3 – 4 exercises with heavy weights and 8 – 10 reps.

Don’t worry if you can’t do all the sets and reps when you start. Do what you can. Don’t hurt yourself.

Cardio is 45 – 60 minutes. I choose from a variety of exercises such as jogging, treadmill, elliptical machine, jumping rope, swimming, cycling, aerobic classes etc…

**If you are very heavy, you may want to incorporate cardio 4 – 5 times per week if you can.

So in closing, here is what my exercise program looks like (most of the times!)

Upper body – 3 times per week. Lower body – 3 times per week. Cardio – 3 – 4 times per week Abs and Calves – 3 times per week

This very difficult program, in conjunction with eating a diet free from junk foods, works very well to slim down the lower body and bring symmetry to the upper body.

Be sure to get alot of relaxation too!

Just one heavy on the lower body sister to another…..

How to Become a Chiropractor

April 17th, 2008 by Barry Friedmann
by Barry Friedmann

To become a chiropractor you need to obtain a chiropractic degree in the philosophy of chiropractic. One should be well-versed with the chiropractic principles – apart from theoretical knowledge, one should also have practical knowledge on how to treat your patients, how to effectively understand the symptoms and what course of action should be undertaken as per the symptoms.

Chiropractors practice an alternative medicine which is gaining wide popularity. Unfortunately there are limited numbers of chiropractic schools in the USA. Many of those wishing to train as a chiropractor have to move to other countries to obtain their degree.

You need to have a chiropractor license in order to become a chiropractor. In the USA, these licenses are only valid in the state where you acquire your license. Usually, only those who have got at least two to four years of undergraduate education and to those that have done a 4 year college course in chiropractic are able to be granted a licence.

A chiropractic course enables you to get a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. However, uou may later need to undertake state and national exams. Certificates for chiropractic are awarded in specific areas, including industrial health, sports injuries, neurology, internal disorders, nutrition, thermography, diagnostic imaging and occupational health. You will need a chiropractic license to be allowed to practice as a chiropractor.

Chiropractors deal closely with their patients. There is often body contact during treatment. To be a chiropractor, you need to understand this. You will need to exercise zeal and lots and lots of patience. The effects of chiropractic treatment won’t always be seen quickly – you will need to convince the patient to follow your advice in order for your treatment to be effective.

So, to become a chiropractor you will need to have good communication skills. You should be able to convey to your patients what they need to do in an effective manner. Inter-personal skills are very important, because apart from the chiropractor skills, it is important that the patient believes in you and feels confident with your skills.

Two types of chiropractic practice are named straight and mixer. Straight is the oldest form of chiropractic principle – it is based on the teachings of B.J. Palmer and D.D. Palmer. Mixer chiropractor is a newer concept, wherein chiropractors mix the chiropractic principles with other forms of medical practices.

A chiropractor may work in the private sector or may work in a hospital. Those aspiring to become a chiropractor will be pleasantly surprised to know that chiropractor salaries are continuously increasing. At present, the average salary of a chiropractor in the United States is US$81,500 per annum. Salaries can range from USD45,000 to USD102,000 per annum. Chiropractor salaries depend on experience and qualifications.

If you really want to become a chiropractor, then my advice would be to go for it – money won’t be a problem once you are educated and your practice is set up and licensed.

How to Lose Weight Fast

April 17th, 2008 by Jas Oh
by Jas Oh

Confused on how to lose weight? Here are 5 surefire but healthy ways on how to lose weight fast and safely.

1. Aside from low intensive cardio, it’s also a good idea to throw in some high intensive interval training. This basically involves performing short bursts of intensive activity. Although it will not burn as much fat as low intensive cardio during the exercise itself, it will skyrocket your metabolism long after a workout.

2. Pump Up Your Metabolism – It’s not that hard. You just have to eat, a lot, and if you are wondering how to burn lower abdominal fat, then there is a good chance you like to eat anyway. The best way to increase your metabolism is to eat a large quantity of nutrient rich foods first thing in the morning. This would include, fruits, fiber, and a good dose of protein. An example of a good breakfast might be a large bowl of oatmeal with almonds, and half of a grapefruit. This will get your body used to burning calories right away in the morning.

3. The key for a flat stomach is eating sensibly. While this doesn’t seem like a secret at all, most women and men get this wrong in spite of their best – but misguided – efforts. Most people have fallen prey to low-fat, low-carb, Hollywood and every other over hyped diet that marketers can dream up, all in hopes of shedding those unwanted pounds. But eating sensibly is – isn’t about dieting or deprivation; it’s about moderation and balance. While cutting carbs or fats out of your nutrition plan might give you a temporary loss of a couple of pounds, it’s typically followed by a drop in metabolism and a weight gain of more than you lost in the first place once you go back to your old eating habits. So what is eating sensibly? Eating sensibly is having protein and carbohydrates at every meal. It’s grazing on 4-6 meals or snack each day instead of missing meals and then gorging yourself. It’s enjoying a healthy breakfast and not drinking your calories. But most of all, eating supportively is enjoying the foods you love in moderation instead of in excess.

4. Keep a food journal. Monitor everything eat, that way you can keep track of your calorie intake. On a weekly basis review it and vary the diet to avoid boredom.

5. Cereal is a great way to start your day. It also makes a nutritious snack or recipe ingredient. Studies have shown that women who had cereal and low fat milk as a bedtime snack lost more weight than those who had their usual pre-snooze pick.

This is how to lose weight fast – eat to live; enjoy healthy food with regular exercise is the best way to lose weight fast.

Weight / Fat Loss – Stay Positive

April 17th, 2008 by Thomas Jones Bingham
by Thomas Jones Bingham

For people that need a good weight / fat loss method, the bad news is that no system is perfect. However good programs are certainly out there that can make a real and beneficial difference, as many dieticians and indeed – doctors will tell you.

Apart from the serious medical issues that surround obesity, feelings of self-worth can be damaged as well as ones ability to carry out even the most basic physical activities without discomfort. I know the above is not pleasant to hear but it is nonetheless – true.

It might seem obvious but in actual fact the most important aspect of the many easy weight / fat loss systems available on the Internet is the actual person attempting to lose weight – or their personality. Losing weight can be for health reasons, self image reasons or both but whatever the reason, you must be sure that you’re doing it for your benefit and not that of another person.

Many people forget that a number of factors must be included in any weight fat loss program, from the amount of physical activity involved down to the type of food eaten, the amount of food, when, and even how often.

Losing weight too quickly can actually do more harm than good to your body as it suddenly has to adapt to a lower weight – with consequent negative repercussions such as anaemia. Furthermore weight loss which is too rapid can give rise to quite unrealistic future expectations of continual weight loss.

To lose a realistic say – pound in weight each and every week all you need to do is reduce your food intake or increase your exercise enough to lose five hundred or so calories each day. Personally I believe that where at all possible the emphasis should be on increasing the amount of time spent exercising. Of course this should be increased after consultation with a suitably qualified Doctor.

Generally – unless you’re an olympic athlete – exercising for weight / fat loss – doesn’t have to hurt. In fact it really shouldn’t! Exercise gently is the rule especially at first – but do it regularly. As you get fitter you will naturally want to do more exercise and as you do more exercise you’ll naturally get fitter. All in all a very beneficial cyle once started – which – as long as you’re eating sensibly will see you lose weight and fat.

Too many people are consuming large amounts of unhealthy food because they enjoy eating it – which is not good. However there is no need to force-feed yourself things that you hate either just to lose weight. Small and infrequent amounts of the food you really enjoy – but isn’t particularly good for you – as part of a generally healthy diet will not harm you. As long as you’re burning off the calories through exercise and eating well in the main – then you will achieve good weight / fat loss.

How we feel is also a determining factor in weight / fat loss success or failure – as people who are depressed or are not happy about their lives usually consume too much of the wrong type of food. This will often be the sweet, fatty, comfort eating items such as chocolate bars and biscuits.

However it really is nonsense to believe that continued eating and weight gain will not have serious consequences to ones health as we now see in the increase of conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart conditions, cancer and many other diseases.

Excess weight or fat loss can be attained with many slimming programs available today. However a person must be prepared to change at least some of the harmful habits they have formed. It should be clear by now that the psychological aspects relating to ones weight / fat loss have to be addressed. Dieting on its own can never be the complete answer. Studies have shown that people who have started weight loss programs with confidence and determination are more likely to accomplish the desired results.

This type of mental attitude is good for a person in all walks of life as it provides the person with a positive mind frame. Most people who have maintained their target weight fat loss have found themselves with more energy and actually like themselves much more because they feel that they have achieved something really special.

So when you’re selecting a weight fat loss program please bear the above in mind. Just remember that an effective weight fat loss program will take many things into account and by necessity will therefore be different for every person. The only person and personality you should be concerned with is you and yours. Any weight loss program is likely to be a little difficult at first but remember once you’ve made youre selection stay positive and stick with it. Then slowly but safely and surely you will achieve the body you desire.

Reasons To Go For A Male Massage

April 17th, 2008 by JD Theis
by JD Theis

While it is still a bit hard for some people to come to grips with, male massage has really taking off in a big way. The industry as a whole has gone through some remarkable periods of growth especially in recent years, with many people who have never even considered booking themselves for a male massage before finally coming over to the wonderful and soothing experience that it can provide.

In spite of its newfound popularity however, the male massage business still has a fairly long way to go. There still remains more than a few people who simply cannot get their minds over the fact that a male massage can be every bit as satisfying and refreshing as one that is given by a female massage therapist, and in many cases can provide some very real benefits besides. Here then are a few reasons why you should start to consider a male massage if you haven’t done so already, and why you should keep on doing so if you have already experienced the pleasures of male massage for yourself.

Quality of service. At this stage in the game, male massage has really come into its own as a serious and legitimate industry. The level of male massage quality that you can get nowadays is generally pretty high, especially with the more reputable establishments. Of course there are still a few operators out there that give the business a bad name, but these do not usually stay in business for very long.

Range of techniques. The range of services that the male massage industry can provide is really nothing short of impressive. Male masseurs are generally able to offer all the more commonly requested massage techniques such as Swedish massage and full body massages, as well as the less common ones such as Shiatzu and others of a similar type. In fact, by virtue of their gender, male masseurs are able to provide services that female therapists may not be able to provide, which brings us to their next benefit and that is their…

Strength. Because of their greater physical strength, male massage therapists can really dig down into deep-seated aches and pains. They are also able to perform a variety of full body stretching techniques much easier and more effectively. Professionalism. Finally, you can generally count on male masseurs to be thoroughly professional and maintain the level of service that you are comfortable with.

THE DRIVE IN TENNIS

April 17th, 2008 by Kim and Charles Petty
by Kim and Charles Petty

The forehand drive is the opening of every offensive in tennis, and, as such, should be most carefully studied. There are certain rules of footwork that apply to all shots. To reach a ball that is a short distance away, advance the foot that is away from the shot and thus swing into position to hit. If a ball is too close to the body, retreat the foot closest to the shot and drop the weight back on it, thus, again, being in position for the stroke. When hurried, and it is not possible to change the foot position, throw the weight on the foot closest to the ball.

The receiver should always await the service facing the net, but once the serve is started on the way to court, the receiver should at once attain the position to receive it with the body at right angles to the net.

The forehand drive is made up of one continuous swing of the racquet that, for the purpose of analysis, may be divided into three parts:

1. The portion of the swing behind the body, which determines the speed of the stroke.

2. That portion immediately in front of the body which determines the direction and, in conjunction with weight shift from one foot to the other, the pace of the shot.

3. The portion beyond the body, comparable to the golfer’s “follow through,” determines spin, top or slice, imparted to the ball.

All drives should be topped. The slice shot is a totally different stroke.

To drive straight down the side-line, construct in theory a parallelogram with two sides made up of the side-line and your shoulders, and the two ends, the lines of your feet, which should, if extended, form the right angles with the side-lines. Meet the ball at a point about 4 to 4 1/2 feet from the body immediately in front of the belt buckle, and shift the weight from the back to the front foot at the MOMENT OF STRIKING THE BALL. The swing of the racquet should be flat and straight through. The racquet head should be on a line with the hand, or, if anything, slightly in advance; the whole arm and the racquet should turn slightly over the ball as it leaves the racquet face and the stroke continue to the limit of the swing, thus imparting top spin to the ball.

The hitting plane for all ground strokes should be between the knees and shoulders. The most favourable plane is on a line with the waist.

Never step away from the ball in driving cross court. always throw your weight in the shot.

The forehand drive from the left court is identically the same for the straight shot down your opponent’s forehand. For the cross drive to his backhand, you must conceive of a diagonal line from your backhand corner to his, and thus make your stroke with the footwork as if this imaginary line were the side-line. In other words, line up your body along your shot and make your regular drive. Do not try to “spoon” the ball over with a delayed wrist motion, as it tends to slide the ball off your racquet.

All drives should be made with a stiff, locked wrist. There is no wrist movement in a true drive. Top spin is imparted by the arm, not the wrist.

The backhand drive follows closely the principles of the forehand, except that the weight shifts a moment sooner, and the R or front foot should always be advanced a trifle closer to the side-line than the L so as to bring the body clear of the swing. The ball should be met in front of the right leg, instead of the belt buckle, as the great tendency in backhand shots is to slice them out of the side-line, and this will pull the ball cross court, obviating this error. The racquet head must be slightly in advance of the hand to aid in bringing the ball in the court. Do not strive for too much top spin on your backhand.

I strongly urge that no one should ever favour one department of his game, in defence of a weakness. Develop both forehand and backhand, and do not “run around” your backhand, particularly in return of service. To do so merely opens your court. If you should do so, strive to ace your returns, because a weak effort would only result in a kill by your opponent.

Do not develop one favourite shot and play nothing but that. If you have a fair cross-court drive, do not use it in practice, but strive to develop an equally fine straight shot.

Remember that the fast shot is the straight shot. The cross drive must be slow, for it has not the room owing to the increased angle and height of the net. Pass down the line with your drive, but open the court with your cross-court shot.

Drives should have depth. The average drive should hit behind the service-line. A fine drive should hit within 3 feet of the baseline. A cross-court drive should be shorter than a straight drive, so as to increase the possible angle. Do not always play one length drive, but learn to vary your distance according to your man. You should drive deep against a baseliner, but short against a net player, striving to drop them at his feet as, he comes in.

Never allow your opponent to play a shot he likes if you can possibly force him to one he dislikes.

Again I urge that you play your drive:

1. With the body sideways to the net.

2. The swing flat, with long follow through.

3. The weight shifting just as the ball is hit.

Alcohol And Drug Addicts And Interventions

April 17th, 2008 by Chris Channing
by Chris Channing

If you or someone you know is addicted to any type of drug or even alcohol- it may be time for an intervention. An intervention is simply an act of trying to make the drug or alcohol user change their ways- often with the prospect of obtaining professional help.

An intervention isn’t always the easiest process to undertake. In fact, it often takes several people in order to convince the drug or alcohol user that what they are doing will negatively impact their future for the long term. If at all possible, get as many people who care about the addict to have their say on the matter- this will increase the likelihood that the addict will listen and conform to the recovery process.

The first step in every drug or alcohol addiction is for the addict to admit there is a problem. If the addict believes there is no problem, then no solution can be found. As soon as the addict admits there is a problem, which doesn’t always take much convincing, there is a very good chance that the person will go on to get the help they need.

Interventions can be very tough to perform. There are government programs and organizations that can help out friends and family members of addicts to perform such interventions. The same organizations can also help in the intervention itself, given the addict is willing to travel to the location to hear what the professionals have to say about their habits.

The intervention is only the first part of a long process in recovery. After a success in intervention, the addict and those involved will need to seek professional help. This usually includes the help of a psychologist or even a doctor so that medication can be obtained to help the process of recovery progress.

The hardest part of recovery is the prospect of relapse. If an addict relapses into their usual habits, it will be even harder for them to get back on the road to recovery in the future. This also essentially makes any time associated with the previous recovery wasted. Be sure to get the help of a physician to shrink the odds of this possibility.

Another way to keep relapses at bay is to get a new habit to replace the old one. The new habit should be a productive and safe habit that takes the addict’s attention away from drugs or alcohol. This might be something as inspiring as painting, or even something as menial as eating certain foods or exercising.

Overall, the road to recovery in an alcohol or drug addiction is going to be rough for anyone involved. It is highly recommended that the help of professionals be sought out to improve the odds of the addict improving his or her condition. Otherwise, the addict may be exposed to increased odds in a relapse or even forming worse habits as a result. Whatever the case, exhibiting love and patience is the key to a success in recovery.

The State Of Male Massage Today

April 17th, 2008 by JD Theis
by JD Theis

If you haven’t yet had a chance to check out what is going on in the world of male massage in a while, you may be in for a bit of a surprise. Over the past few years the industry has really taken quite a huge step forward, and getting a male massage is now one of the most popular leisure and relaxation activities in many cities all over the world. Having experienced a spectacular growth from its somewhat humble beginnings, the male massage industry has truly come into its own. Which as many people will tell you is about time, given the clear benefits that a male massage will bring, not only in terms of your physical comfort but in the state of your mental well being as well.

Admittedly, male masseurs are still greatly outnumbered by female masseurs, just as it has always been throughout the course of the massage industry. It is a bit too early to tell yet whether the number of male masseurs will stand at equal footing with their female counterparts at any time in the near future but one thing is clear, and that is the gap is getting narrower all the time. While many people would not think to hire a male masseur for their massage needs in the past, their number is gradually shrinking as the industry matures and more and more people are beginning to realize what a good idea a male massage really is. It also helps matters considerably that many thousands of people from all over the world have already experienced the unique combination of soothing pleasure and deep down relief that only a male masseur can provide, and these satisfied customers are only too happy to spread the word.

In terms of the quality and range of services that male massage therapists can offer, it has become very obvious that they are able to deliver a massage experience that is at par with the best in the business. You can typically expect male masseuses to be well versed in all of the common massage techniques that have become a standard part of the massage industry’s repertoire over the years, and the level of quality is generally pretty high across the board. Make no mistake about it, the word is out: male massage has arrived and it is high time that you see for yourself what the buzz is all about!
