Simple Diet Tip that Really Works – Violates All the Conventional

May 23rd, 2008 by M. L. Dillians
by M. L. Dillians

After giving it much thought, I decided it is time to get serious about losing weight. This tip is one of a series I intend to write – about diet ideas that worked for me.

Simple idea – ignore the extraneous advice and do it my way.

I planned to check my weight everyday at the beginning. A lot of people think against that idea since it can be discouraging if you control your weight every day and feel like your efforts on your diet is meaningless. Experts suggest to check weigh only once a week for that reason.

If I check my weight just once every week, the problem with that is, I am not able to enjoy my successes (or my failures) soon enough.

Feedback is the Key

I have found that if I weigh myself once a day, I know right away, practically on a continuous basis, whether what I did the day before was helpful (or not).

The first thing I purchased when I started the diet was a high quality scale similar to those you’d see in a Doctor’s office. I spent about $150 on this scale, but I feel confident with the results from it since it doesn’t give different readings every day. I think that having such a reliable scale and weighting myself right after getting out of bed, before eating breakfast each day, is a key to getting useful feedback.

This feedback shows me the effects that eating a fast food burger with fries at lunch can have on my weight. It shows that I truly will lose weight if I stay on the diet and I can generally see actual results every couple of days.

Everyday feedback lets me see both my successes and mistakes. My prior, failed, dieting attempts have shown that weekly weighing is not frequent enough for my requirements. Seven days is too long and results in me forgetting the root causes of gained or lost weight. My session with the scale each morning allows me to go over in my mind the previous day’s food consumption.

Daily weighing can be tough to do – especially when I know I haven’t been “good” the day before. However, even this bad feeling about myself provides a limiting factor to my behaviour the next day.

I recommend trying this tip if you are having a hard time losing weight.

Cat Allergy Symptoms – Stop Sneezing on Your Kitty!

May 23rd, 2008 by Dorothy Medlum
by Dorothy Medlum

It isn’t hard to know if you are allergic to cats. Many people already know for sure that they are definitely allergic, although they have never gone to see an allergist. The cues to this are easy. Whenever a cat is in the area, they have a bad allergic reaction.

They know that they are allergic to cats because when they are around the cat, they have an awful allergic reaction. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that it is your cat that is causing you the discomfort. But, what exactly are the cat allergy symptoms and how do you alleviate them, without getting rid of the family pet?

Some Symptoms to Look out For

Sneezing uncontrollably or watery eyes are the most common forms of cat allergy symptoms. These occur when you come in contact with a cat or cat fur. There are some much worse symptoms you may have than those aforementioned.

Depending on the severity of your cat allergy, you may exhibit some cat allergy symptoms which are worse than the above mentioned maladies. An example, some people can have such bad cat allergy symptoms, they require immediate medical attention. These cat allergy symptoms are so severe, that they must avoid cats completely.

If you have cat allergy symptoms and don’t want to give up your cat, there might be some supplements or medicine available that will help you. Therefore, your symptoms would become less severe and you could keep your cat.

Don’t worry, your friend or family member will take good care of your pet. You may also want to have another family adopt your pet if knowing a family member has it brings you stress.

Please remember, your cat allergy symptoms are not your cat’s fault and you can’t punish your cat for this. It is your body’s way of dealing with certain allergens. The allergen here- being the family pet, your cat.

Cat allergy symptoms are never fun in most cases, but if not that bad; you may want to try treatments, or medicines to allow you to keep your pet. If you cannot take anything that helps you, the only other choice is to give the cat away to a loving home. Being allergy free might mean that you have to give up your pet, but if you give it to a loving home, then you still love your pet. You are just taking care of yourself as well.

Weight Loss the Safe, Quick Way Using Hoodia

May 23rd, 2008 by Philip Mc Donald
by Philip McDonald

The product Hoodia has become synonymous with weight loss. Like many other Supplements, Hoodia became the subject of debate when it hit peak popularity almost 6 months prior to this writing. Distributors of Hoodia have made incredible claims about Hoodia’s capacity to suppress appetite, boost metabolism, and help shape the bodies that many of us are struggling to achieve.

Hoodia is not a cactus but an herb that is found in South Africa. For generations, Local Bushmen have used Hoodia in order to control hunger before and during ritual fasting.

All the claims regarding Hoodia would be true if we could grow the plants ourselves. Unfortunately, we rely on manufacturers to inform us about their Hoodia concentrations. Usually the concentration is not enough to have much of an effect on a regular appetite.

Research conducted at Brown Medical School shows an association between Hoodia and an appetite decrease of about 40 to 60%. There has yet to be any study performed on humans as the studies were only performed on rats.

Hunger is a sensation that urges us to eat in order for your blood sugar to stay within healthy levels. True Hoodia has an effect on the gland that urges this hunger. Although Hoodia products made from natural sources may very well be effective in controlling appetites and lessening cravings, there are people who stop having the urge to eat altogether.

If you opt to try Hoodia, and you purchase a bottle that has been created from the actual Hoodia plant and has a high enough concentration, it is vital that you continue to eat regularly, even if you lose your appetite altogether. Complete restriction from food is also known as an eating disorder, which will eventually play havoc with your metabolism.

Successful weight loss is very important for the state of one’s health. In fact, obesity is rapidly becoming the largest health crisis in the United States today. Healthy weight loss is about food reduction and exercise increase rather than complete denial of food.

Food is the energy your body needs daily in order to survive. Therefore, starving yourself will only cause the body to shut down. Fortunately, Hoodia products that are made from the real plant extract are helpful if you want to lose a few pounds.

How safe is the South Beach Diet?

May 22nd, 2008 by Linda Miller
by Linda Miller

Anytime you are beginning a weight loss program, the first question you want to ask is, “Is this diet safe?” Crash diets and fad diets are not safe. In fact, some extreme diet practices can lead to serious health problems. When you choose to follow the South Beach Diet, you don’t have to worry about that at all. The South Beach Diet is merely a healthy eating plan that causes you to lose weight. So, if you are looking for a way to take off that extra weight and want to know if the South Beach Diet is safe and effective, explore the details of the South Beach Diet and ask a few questions.

What are the benefits of the South Beach Diet? The biggest benefit found on the South Beach Diet isn’t weight loss. It’s learning how to eat healthier. The South Beach Diet teaches you how to tell the difference between good and bad carbs, and clues you in on what fats are ok to eat and which ones aren’t. These simple facts are what make the South Beach Diet so effective.

Expert nutritionists will tell you that you should only have in limited doses those products which your body has a problem breaking down. We all know that foodstuffs such as chips and candy, both high in sugar content and saturated fats are not good for us. When you are following the South Beach Diet, Phase 1 will show you that you need to limit your sweet eating to just 75 calories each day.

Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet is very restrictive, because you eliminate fruits and grain from your diet. But Phase 1 is over in 14 days, and during that time your body has the chance to completely recover from the negative effects of eating too many carbs on a regular basis.

You may be pleased to know that Phase 1 only lasts for fourteen days so there is no need to despair as these favorite items are not lost forever. The diet is just trying to educate you to eat these products in a much healthier way. Phase 2 sees the reappearance of fruits and grains on the menu which allows you to eat these foods because you actually want to and not because you are craving for them.

The effects of the diet on pregnant women have also been an issue of concern. It is a well known fact that women who are pregnant require a specific kind of nutrition and for this reason it s recommended that they start the diet at Phase 2 level which is less restrictive on the items they require during pregnancy.

What about teenagers? It is also inadvisable for teenagers to use the South Beach Diet. The teen years are a time of important growth, and a balanced diet is highly important. The total elimination of fruit and grains from a teen’s diet is not recommended, as it may have a negative effect on their energy levels.

If you are interested in following the South Beach Diet but aren’t sure it is right for you, speak with your doctor or nutritionist. Since all of us have different physiology, talking to a professional is always a good idea when entering into any diet program. Perhaps the South Beach Diet is the right one for you, but you may need to adjust some things here and there. A nutritionist or physician can assist you with this.

Benefits Of Using An Elliptical Trainer

May 22nd, 2008 by Greg Lockwood
by Greg Lockwood

Anybody who has walked through a gym, browsed the exercise section at their local retailer, or even watched a movie that included a work out scene knows what an elliptical trainer is. But not everyone knows why they are great machines and what the benefits of using one are. When you look at the machine, you see that, just a machine. What you should be doing is look at the machine and thinking about what it has to offer you. Not sure? Let’s discuss it here. They must be popular for a good reason.

A lot of people think they are too busy to take exercise. Often there don’t seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done. Exercise is not only recommended but it is essential to stay healthy and fit, to keep up with the fast pace of today’s world. An elliptical trainer in your home saves money and time in the long run. Thirty minutes a day at a quick pace on the elliptical trainer takes you over 3 miles and can burn more than 400 calories. The exercise is also great for your metabolism and for your whole body. An elliptical trainer is fun to use and easy enough for anyone to do it.

Another great thing about these elliptical trainers is that there is a minimal risk of injury while using them. The low impact exercising in conjunction with the smooth and self-powered work out keeps you from coming close to major muscle pulls or falls. If you were to compare the injury rate of an elliptical trainer to that of a weight machine or a treadmill, you would see a vast difference. The lack of the amount of skill required to operate one of these machines safely is a huge plus for this elliptical trainer.

In addition to weight loss, the elliptical trainer is a great place to get a cardio work out. The more exercising that one does at an earlier age, the fewer heart problems they are likely to have as they get older. Besides just losing weight on the trainer, you will notice your muscles become more toned and your metabolism will begin to rise. That’s right! Working out on an elliptical trainer every day can boost your metabolism so that you are burning more calories than usual, even at rest.

The elliptical trainer is an ageless machine. Everybody in the house can use it, regardless of age or body type. These machines are very popular and in high demand. Getting one can start your whole family on the path to health!

Healthy Ways to Lose Weight For Good

May 22nd, 2008 by Jason KM Oh
by Jason KM Oh

Losing weight is all about changing your life. You have to be motivated and keen to stick it out for the long hard ride. Just expect the failures and the highs – no fat loss regime is ever perfect and you cannot expect things to go your ways 100 percent of the time. But if you incorporate some measures to change your lifestyle, you will go a long way to shedding the pounds. Below are 5 key healthy ways to lose weight-

1. Try Kettle-bell training – This is different from conventional weight training because it focuses on the body’s natural movements, and it leaves no muscles untouched. So rather than exercising just your arms, legs, or back, kettle-bell training works the entire body – which is more demanding and has a greater impact on your body’s metabolism. You can get an incredible workout in just 20 minutes and burn huge amounts of fat compared with regular long drawn out exercise.

2. Pick your fruit – apples and oranges are high in fructose (‘slow releasing’ natural fruit sugars), making them a better choice than fruits high in ‘fast – releasing’ sucrose, such as grapes and dates.

3. Trim the fats – fat is very dense in energy. so even cutting out 1 tablespoon per day can help you lose nearly 2kg a year. Avoid or reduce butter, cream, copha, coconut milk and margarines. Choose trim cuts of meat and cut off all fat before cooking. Plus, cut back on takeaways, chips, biscuits and pastries. But it is OK to have a treat now and then, but in moderation.

4. Eat more fiber and protein – this means the slower release of any carbohydrate you eat improves blood glucose balance. Try seeds or nuts with a fruit snack or add them to cereal. Try to eat one gram of protein per pound of body weight per day.

5. Remember why you are doing it and keep in mind all the benefits you will reap when you succeed. Make your weight loss program a habit that becomes something normal for you. And keep these points in mind – start cooking your healthy own meals (grilling, steaming or boiling), never ever have second helpings regardless of where you are or what the occasion is, Eat slower and chew your food for longer, and get into some kind of physical activity.

Use the above tips as your foundation for your fat loss journey. Start with it and improve on it to ensure your success. Believe it or not there are more healthy ways to lose weight, but if you take the small step today, you can improve your lifestyle today

Skin Care : Deciding Which Is The Best Skin Care Product

May 22nd, 2008 by Ray Lam
by Ray Lam

Have you ever stopped to consider the number of advertisements that are directed to you everyday about how you look? Some day when you get up start keeping track of the number of commercials and printed ads you see that involve a health or beauty product. The television, radio, newspapers and billboards are filled with advertisings ways that you can look and feel better and younger.

When thinking about what might be the best skin care product for your face or body, think about the condition of your skin when you apply other things. If you have ever had a reaction to anything, or something that seemed benign has made you break out, you may have skin sensitivity or even an allergic reaction. That means you should consider that the best skin care product for you is one that is made for sensitive skin. Most brands have a version made just for that, and those are the ones you should be trying first.

I have found that as long as I am consistent in using any product they all work about the same. If I do a good job of washing my face and putting on a moisturizer before bed and then put on another application of moisturizer under my make up in the morning, my skin looks and feels good. Occasionally I will use a peel off masque to remove dead skin. I have found that the more lotions and potions I expose my skin to the drier it gets.

In my opinion the best skin care product is consistency. People will see an advertisement or will go to a home party featuring beauty products and they will buy lotions and other skin care accessories. Because they have spent so much and have a renewed interest in how they look they will be diligent in their skin care regiment and they will look better.

I believe that if they would have taken any product and used it faithfully they would have the same results. As long as you avoid harsh chemicals, which hardly any skin care products contain, you are going to get similar results from the various products. I find that if I find a lotion that I like the smell of I am more apt to put it on after my shower to help keep my skin soft. Our skin is the largest organ we have. It pays to be good to it and to keep it healthy. The best skin care product that we can use on a daily basis is protection from the sun. Sun damage not only weakens the skin but it ages it and may cause cancer. Protecting your skin from the sun and cleaning it on a daily basis will help to keep you looking good.

Build massive arms & a gigantic chest by working your… legs?

May 22nd, 2008 by Caleb Lee
by caleb lee

If you ever wanted to build a bigger chest and huge arms then this article will show you exactly how to do that… without… spending any extra time working those muscles out.

In fact, I will explain how you can build muscle on your chest and arms by working your LEGS!

Does this sound like I don’t know what I’m talking about?

Many bodybuilders and weight lifters might agree that this sounds strange. But that is why they still have scrawny arms and a small chest.

You see, most trainees spend too much time doing isolation exercises for their arms and chest in an attempt to build a bigger upper body…

So why is this not a good thing?

This is a bad way to try to build a big upper body because one of the key factors of building muscle is making sure you increase your levels of growth hormone (GH), testosterone (T), and other “body chemicals”… these chemicals signal your body to “build more muscle NOW!” And that’s what you want!

The absolute best way to raise the levels of these chemicals in your body is by intense exercise that involves your WHOLE body (or as much of it as possible)… and not just certain parts (like you would do with pure isolation exercises for your arms or chest).

So when trainees focus too much on doing lots of different exercises for their arms… and a lot of different exercises for their chest… they’re only working out small muscle groups and not putting their body under enough stress to signal muscle growth.

So what’s the secret to remedy this problem?

The secret is to work out ALL of the muscles in your body as often as possible. Focusing primarily on the biggest muscles of your body (because this will put it under more stress — stimulating more chemicals to be released). Like your legs and back and THEN your chest, arms, etc.

Here’s the best way to do this: start with compound (multi-joint) exercises like the deadlift and squat before you start doing isolation exercises like specific chest exercises (dumbbell flies, etc) and arm exercises (curls, etc).

So, if you want to build a shirt-popping chest and hulk-like arms then you need to work out your LEGS… follow the guidelines above and you’re sure to start building new muscle almost overnight!

Different Types of Allergic Reactions in Dogs

May 21st, 2008 by Syahrul Azlan
by Syahrul Azlan

Allergic reactions in dogs are hard to control and are usually chronic in nature. This is why the right diagnosis and therapy has to be started early to minimize the allergic reaction. The most common symptom for allergic reaction in dogs is excessive itching, or pruritis. It is the high strung dogs that tend to itch more than placid dogs while chewing, licking and rubbing of the skin are all manifestations of pruritis.

The common areas on the dog’s body that are the hardest hit for pruritis are its face, feet and armpit. However, due to some extent of excessive pruritis, it might cover the whole body of the animal. Scratching is normal for them and sometimes not a sign of any irregularities on their skin. But when tiny blood spots appear, it’s already a sign of an allergic reaction. The reason for this is, flea dirt comprises more of blood and they usually appear as small blood spots in any place that they are left behind.

Basically, there are three types of allergic reactions in dogs where the dog may suffer from one of these reactions or a combination of all three conditions. First is food allergy in where a dog is allergic to ingredients or preservatives found in food like beef, wheat, dairy products which are most common food allergens. In addition, even premium dog foods have a tendency to contain these products.

Dog owners usually try to stop allergic reactions in dogs by visiting a reputable pet store. Here pet store employees usually recommend some dog food to stop the itching thinking that this is the main cause for allergic reactions in dogs. However food allergies are basically the least common of allergic problems found in diagnosed skin problems.

As with the case of flea allergy dermatitis, the second type, the usual culprits are the allergens found in the saliva of a biting flea in a dog’s body. What fleas usually do is to insert a coagulant through the saliva to prevent clotting to make the blood flow constant and smooth thus induces an allergic reaction.

In this the main stimulants for allergic reactions in dogs is when flea inserts a coagulant through the saliva to prevent the clotting of the dog’s blood. However the occurrences of new and effective treatments have now diminished.

Allergic inhaled dermatitis or atopy is the third type of allergic reactions. In this allergic reaction the dog on its exposure to an allergen has the tendency to produce IgE antibodies.

Allergic reactions will then be evident when there is a re-exposure to the same allergen. Common causes are usually pollen, grasses, animal wastes or animal dander, molds, mites, house dust and feathers which can be either pass through inhalation or through or in-between the pads of its paws.

The Different Types of Allergic Reactions

May 21st, 2008 by Syahrul Azlan
by Syahrul Azlan

Allergy is an exaggerated reaction of the immune system to antigens. Bee stings, insect stings, some food, or pollens are examples of an antigen. Each antigen triggers specific allergy attack and is manifested distinctly by each person. It is of frequent occurrence nowadays.

Allergies are generally mild with mild symptoms that go within a few days of getting rid of the trigger of the allergen. Occasionally, there are cases of people suffering from anaphylaxis which is a life threatening condition where there is difficulty in breathing and loss in consciousness.

Hay fever is a seasonal allergic rhinitis, a type of allergic reaction. This type of allergy is triggered by pollen and other minute particles that are present at specific seasons. On occasion, this allergic rhinitis is seen all throughout the year.

Insect stings allergic reaction is very common type of allergy. Despite that, the severity of its reaction to each person varies. Usually the person is unaware that he is allergic to this antigen until he was stung by an insect. Most of the time allergic reactions results to second time insect sting whereas the first incident would usually result to ordinary sting reaction.

Allergy to latex is another of the types of allergic reactions where the person is allergic to substances made of natural latex. One of the main sources of this allergic reaction is rubber gloves while sometimes, latex that is used in other products like condoms and medical devices can trigger a reaction.

Mold allergy is an allergy that does not have a defined season as mold and fungi grow in all weather and thrive both indoors and outdoors. However some forms of outdoor mold tend to thrive in higher concentrations from spring to late fall. There are some people who suffer from allergy to cosmetics. With cosmetic allergy, you experience skin irritation because of some ingredients in the cosmetics like fragrances and preservatives. The two types of allergic reactions here are irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis.

Some people are allergic to pets; where it is not the pet’s feathers or fur that triggers a reaction. It is the invisible flakes of animal skin called dander that triggers sneezing, watery eyes and stuffy noses in some people. When you suffer from food allergies, it means that some food likes peanuts and jalapeos trigger an allergic reaction.

Symptoms here are like symptoms for different types of allergic reactions like hives, swelling of the throat and tongue, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and a drop in blood pressure.

Why physical therapy for herniated disc t5 t6?

May 21st, 2008 by Tim Beartoes
by Ryan Beartoes

Out of the many diseases and disorders that infiltrate the human body the most damaging and painful of them all are spine injuries or accidental damage. The spinal column (human) is composed of 24 vertebrae which is subdivided into the cervical spine consisting of seven vertebrae, the thoracic spine has 12 vertebrae and the lumbar spine has five vertebrae. The base of the bone also called the sacrum is situated at the end of the sacrum in the coccyx.

The shock absorbing cushion also referred to as the discs is between each vertebra pair. In the beginning there are 23 discs which start from the second and third neck vertebrae and are called C2-C3, T5-T6 and L4-L5 the letter ‘C’ stand for ‘Cervical’, ‘T’ Stands for ‘Thoracic’, ‘L’ stands for ‘Lumbar’ and ‘S’ for ‘Sacrum’.

Damages to the disks might happen due to accidents, falls, weak muscles, weak supporting muscles and body mechanics. The discs outer layer tears or breaks open because of these injuries and disc herniation otherwise known as subligamentous.

This condition occurs in the lower back or lumbar spine region, and sometimes affects the cervical and upper back called the thoracic spine too. Applying pressure to the nerve roots, herniated discs cause lots of pain and numbness in the affected area. The gel like material comes out of the discs once the discs rapture. Normal x-rays are unable to identify the disorder so MRI or CT scans are used.

When the T5 and T6 are herniated it means that the disorder or injury is done to the thoracic spine. The muscles are relaxed when pain killers are administered as medicines for this injury. Physical therapy is the only way to treat the herniated T5 T6 discs as there is no real medicine that can cure this injury it can only suppress the pain and symptoms. In severe cases surgery is required but not always. Physical exercises and bed rest can give relief from numbness.

Light exercise like walking and other activities can keep the pain at bay. An ice pack or a hot pack can also be used on the affected region 3-4 times a day it will provide relief to the muscle tension and pain. The most effective way to recover from herniated disc is to seek physiotherapy. In cases of T5 T6 disorders and injuries are very unbearable but it can be treated.

The unstable segment and the neutral zone can be controlled with proper physical therapy. This therapy increase mobility and allow the patient to walk, climb stairs etc freely. It can prevent disability improve physical function and give balance to the affected area. The physical therapy should be concentrated on the muscles, bones, ligaments, nerves etc.

This form of therapy can be easily availed at hospitals, clinics or fitness centers. You need to make sure to get a good physical therapist; you must consider those recommended by friends and family. Health insurance companies and physicians also provide a list of good physiotherapists. You first need to investigate if the therapist is qualified and has the necessary degree. Defective therapy can be dangerous and lead to physical conditions and cause the patient to become immobile. So be cautious when selecting a good physical therapist.

Skin Care : Effective Men Skin Care Tips

May 21st, 2008 by Ray Lam
by Ray Lam

Not too long ago, it used to be that when a woman brought home her facial scrub, cleanser and toner, she could be sure that the closest her man got to them was reaching over those fancy jars for his can of shaving cream. Not any more. In recent years, men have been secretly dipping into their wives and girlfriends skin care products and liking the results that they see. So much so that many companies are developing skincare lines just for men.

Many men may just be using bar soap, or even worse, nothing at all to cleanse their face. It is important that a man properly cleanses his face to prevent excess oils from building up and causing unsightly skin problems. There are anti wrinkle and special cleansing skin care lotions and creams that are made to clean the unique skin of a man without drying it out and making it rough. Using regular soap can leave the skin too dry, so picking out a specific facial cleanser for men will help men get the skin they want.

Shaving is another part of almost every man’s routine at least a few times a week. Although many men are apt to purchase the cheapest shaving cream at the store, this may actually be causing damage to their skin. It’s important to use a shaving cream that is full of moisturizer. A good working razor is also crucial as one that is dull can rip the skin. When you view shaving as part of the men skin care regime it’s easy to see why the products you use matter so much.

Male skin is generally thicker and oilier because they have larger pores and more active sebaceous glands. Their skin can become dehydrated due to regular shaving. Moisturizers are very important in skin care for men. A moisturizing gel or cream should be applied after shaving. Most shaving foams and gels have a built-in moisturizer. When using a moisturizer, pat it gently over the face and massage gently using upward strokes.

Men’s skin care products also include special formulas for men to get rid of dark circles under their eyes. Most of these products for men contain either caffeine or Vitamin K to help minimize the appearance of circles. Using these kinds of anti aging skin care products can help the guys appear more professional and handsome than ever before.

Skin care for men is just as important as skin care for women. If you take care of your skin, as you age your skin will stay healthy.

Health industry reporting of the increases of ailments such as asthma and allergen induced allergies each year can firmly be linked to pollutants such as cigarette smoke, pollen, pet dander, dust mite faeces, mold spores and other micro-organisms hanging in the air in our houses and office environments. Chemicals like carbon dioxide from cars are also always a major concern.

The Austin range, including the hepa healthmate plus models, can extract these pollutants from your home, creating a safer allergy-free environment for the whole family. There are numerous model-types available, depending on your personal needs, all of which are steel construction technology for strength and durability.

Austin Purifiers operate by emitting either positive or negative ions into the atmosphere in your room by way of a fan. These ions engulf the contaminating particles and they are drawn back into the purifier collecting the particles in filters, before releasing the cleansed air back into the living space. The only serious maintenance which should be completed regularly for these purifiers is the changing of the filter which is a quick and simple procedure.

Each Austin Purifier machine has a switch with three speeds which it is advisable to leave on the lower speed to continually refresh the air of any room that is not being regularly used, with the higher setting activated at times when the room is more heavily occupied.

With the Austin range being such an extensive one with regard to size, colour and even for particular air cleansing areas, there will be a unit perfectly suited for any part of the home of office. As an example, the junior models range is well suited to small bedrooms, allowing for a more rested sleeping experience. Austin Purifiers are extremely well suited to use in kitchens and wet areas – where the aim is to eliminate moisture and unpleasant odours with the in-built filtering system.

There is nothing worse than entering a bedroom after a long day only to find the place smells of that evenings family supper! As these units also help to remove dust from the room, less housework is necessary meaning more leisure time.

Here’s hoping that no member of your family suffers from a breathing related condition, but if this is the case, purchasing an Austin Air Purifier will allow everyone in the family the necessity of breathing more easily.

Martial Arts Schools – The Secret To Choosing The Right One

May 21st, 2008 by Patrick Consing
by Patrick Consing

Have you been looking for the right martial arts school in New York? Due to the fact that there are many diverse cultures, one is sure to find many different influences ranging from Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean…you name it. This can make it quite difficult because there are many martial arts schools and styles so choosing the right one can seem like a chore without the right information. Studying martial arts requires specific steps. Choosing a martial arts school also requires the same process. Don’t get frustrated and take it easy because if you are serious and plan to stick to a style, you have to be certain about the martial arts school you choose.

The following guide was put together by us to assist anyone interested in finding the right martial arts school for them as well as the specifics of learning what is required of the signing up process. Setting aside some time now for research and some phone calls will save you a ton of heartache later when you choose the best school for you the first time. Many schools actually have limits on the amount of applications they accept so don’t be surprised. Reviewing what you read here will help you immensely in being prepared for interviews as well as what to look out for while at the school itself.

First off, you need to decide why you are even thinking of taking up martial arts training. What is your motive for choosing martial arts? Did a Bruce Lee movie get you excited and you felt like drop kicking a bully here and there? Want a ripped and in shape body that people go crazy for? Defending yourself is maybe your utmost priority, or maybe your child’s discipline leaves something to be desired? These are things one should tell the instructor so they can better evaluate if you share the same beliefs and the school is a proper fit for the both of you. Having your end result in mind will help guide you.

Basically what you want is to talk to some instructors and ask them to help you define your goals for the training and if their school is right for you. This way you both are on the same track and no surprises come up that you are not prepared for. Remember a good martial arts school will actually deny you if they don’t think you are good fit for each other. Be wary of regular “we sign everyone” schools. Join a gym if this is what you are interested in.

The style or type of martial art you want to train in is important and for some it’s the deciding factor but don’t forget that a bad school can ruin your experience. Listen to what each instructor has to say about their styles, this way you can evaluate how they relate to you. It can be as simple as getting a good feeling and signing up. After doing some research you may find out that the original style you chose is not what you thought and you may like something else. Again, you need to decide the type of school and teaching is right for you. Traditions and cultures can also influence what you decide to learn.

Which style do you want to learn? Do you want to be taught Korean, Japanese, Filipino, Thai, Brazilian or Chinese? Is this something for fun? These are just some of the questions that you will need to ask yourself so that you can find the right martial arts school for you. There are a lot of schools that are not for the type of people who are there as a fun activity. In fact, many will be insulted, so you will want to be careful on how you phrase your words.

As you can see, there are many factors in deciding the right martial arts school for you. In the end, the best school is the one you feel the most comfortable in and you get along with the instructors. Even if you have to drive or commute a fair distance, how you feel and what you will learn can outweigh the inconvenience of the distance. Paying more now can save you the heartache of paying less and not learn a single thing. Time is your most valuable asset so try your best to choose wisely from the beginning and be quick to change if you think you are wrong.

How To Gain Back Your Pre-Pregnancy Figure

May 20th, 2008 by Ray Lam
by Ray Lam

One of the first things a woman starts thinking about after the pleasure of having her child and seeing that her baby is healthy is how she is going to get her figure back and lose weight after pregnancy. Although some blame must be attributed to the press with their constant bombardment for celebrities who have managed to reclaim their figure in record time. Anyone famous will have access to trainers so their weight loss after pregnancy will not be such a trial especially as they will probably been approached for a number of baby endorsements prior t the birth.

Most things to help with weight loss after pregnancy are not available to the regular person on the street who will have to face the challenge generally on their own. Besides at this point after the birth, a mother should be concentrating more on the health of her child and her own diet so she can feed her baby these days regaining her strength. This sort of diet will enable her to regain her strength and also improve her energy levels so it should not exceed 2,000 calories per day; but it also requires regular amounts of the following:

*Fifty percent intake of carbohydrates *Protein should be almost a third of daily intake *Fat should be about one tenth of daily intake

This will typically allow for a few of the mothers favorite foods which she should be allowed to enjoy after everything she has been through. Although a new born child takes a great deal of care and time, it is still necessary for a mother to attempt some form of regular exercise which will also improve her metabolism and stamina. The exercise doesn’t have to be anything that is heavy, moderate and regular are the key aspects here as this way you will also enjoy it, although you won’t start seeing the benefits immediately.

How quickly you experience weight loss after pregnancy at this stage will depend on many things including how much you gained during the previous nine months. It is now accepted that the body and metabolism of a woman that has given birth undergoes a number of changes which can sometimes make losing those extra pounds more difficult. The surest way to lose weight after pregnancy is to maintain that healthy diet and exercise regime you have started so the weight comes off naturally and slowly.

The main purpose is to reduce the overall body fat while improving muscle tone at the same time although this should be a gradual process. Nevertheless, if you follow the advice here there is no reason why you shouldn’t get your old figure and weight back within a year of giving birth. Getting your figure back is perfectly possible after pregnancy and most women will achieve this but some may find that those last few annoying pounds just won’t go until the breast feeding has ended.

Doctor visits conside with one other activity, it’s almost inevitable that you’ll head to your local pharmacy next. Prescription medicines are a part of life, and we all need them from time to time. Maybe you need prescription medicines daily for blood pressure, migraines, pain relief ED or another type of illness and must have your prescription drugs refilled on a regular basis. If so, you’ll be glad to learn that there’s an affordable alternative – online pharmacies or generic drug pharmacy.

You can also save time and money by shopping at an online pharmacy. Online pharmacies have very little overhead. Unlike a local pharmacy, the online pharmacy owner doesn’t have to pay high building rent and utility payments each month, and they don’t have to pay many employees to operate the store. They can easily have a one-to-three person operation online simply there for your convience and time saving services.

Another reason online pharmacies offer great prices on prescription medicines is they order products in quantity. They are able to get many medicines (such as pre-stocked creams and pills) in large quantities at discounts. These savings are passed on to you.

Most people save a large percentage by ordering their medicines at an online Internet pharmacy. If you order regularly and order several at a time this is especially helpful . Even veterinary medicines are available. If you live in a remote area or a small town with a small pharmacy, it might be hard to get some prescriptions. An online Internet pharmacy has a large stock of medicines to serve people from different places.

With the abundance of reputable internet pharmacetical companies finding the online pharmacy that’s right for you is easy with a little research. An important step is to check with the Better Business Bureau online to be sure the company hasn’t had a lot of customer service complaints. Also, be sure the online pharmacy is licensed to practice in the country where it is located and where it is selling to as well. Check for customer references if you still want to know more about the company’s service.

Examine the online pharmacy site a little while before buying. Learn all about their shipping policies, customer service, and pricing, many sites offer free shipping. Taking that first step is always the hardest. Once you order your first medicines online, you’ll quickly see why an online pharmacy saves you money and time on all of your prescription medicines

Some practical measures will ensure that you will be satisfied with your order. Don’t plan to buy based solely on price, research first and make sure you will be buying quality medicines. Make sure they have a valid street address and phone number and licenses to practice in their country. Don’t use an online Internet pharmacy unless it has a privacy policy. This is important to protect you from Internet spam and also your personal privacy.

Medicines dispensed in the U.S. are quality controlled by the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP), in conjunction with the FDA which is the justification for some of the higher pricing. You should consider this when choosing to buy drugs from out of the country.

Know what your prescription looks before you order from an online pharmacy. This will help ensure that you receive the right drug and not a substitute or counterfeit. Consult with a health care professional when ordering online prescriptions. And, don’t mix medicines without talking to a doctor first. Some medicines have serious interactions when combined with others.

Allergy Drops Instead Of Shots

May 20th, 2008 by Juanita Reyes
by Dorothy Medlum

For persons being treated for allergies, it is sometimes painful to be subjected to weekly shots. Today there are alternatives that allergists are looking into for their patients.

The sublingual allergy drops are taken at home by the patient and have shown similar benefits to the weekly injections.

Allergy shots are comprised of diluted versions of the allergens the patient has a reaction to. Usually, the ration is about 100,000 to one. In some cases, ear, nose, and throat doctors use a dilution of a million to one.

The allergens are injected into patients who then wait about a half-hour to be sure there is no detrimental reaction to the injection. Then, they are allowed to leave the doctor’s office.

The injections can be paid by insurance, but even with the benefit of insurance, the co-pay still can add up to a large amount rather quickly.

With the use of the allergy drops, the number of doctor visits decreases immensely. The most a patient would need to go to the doctor is now about 2-3 times a year. Once you have your prescription, you can now treat yourself, by placing the drops under your tongue.

No longer does the patient have to make those weekly visits to the doctor. And all the patient is required to do is place the drops under the tongue once a week as directed.

Most children will happily opt for the drops and it has been shown more people would rather take the drops on a regular basis as opposed to going for their weekly injections.

Muscle Building, Success Or Failure Is A Matter Of Seconds

May 20th, 2008 by Ricardo Daryans
by Ricardo Daryans

To achieve succes when you’re working out in the gym is a matter of seconds. That’s true! In the same way a fraction of a second during a 100 metre dash will make or break a sprinter’s race, that fraction determines muscle building success or failure and determines also your body’s muscle growth.

That’s right, your workout session maybe lasts for about an hour, but there’s a small fraction of time in your session that really matters and that’s something you have to know in order to achive the best results. How you handle that seconds would mean poor, mediocre or great results.

Let me try to explain. Every set of execises that you perform in the gym will give you benefits on the last 1-2 reps. Why? Because muscles respond to stress, so, the first reps you perform are nothing but a mechanism to trigger the stress your muscles need to grow.

Then, reps 1-4 are only performed in order to get to reps 5 and 6, the ones that really matter in the bodybuilding process. The first ones, do very little in terms of stimulating muscular growth.

What’s important then, is to overload the muscles on reps 5 and 6. And the most important thing to achieve better results is try to keep that stress level as long as you can at the end of each set.

There is simply no better way to trigger your body’s adaptive responses than to train until your muscles cannot move the weight another inch. The closer and closer that you can come to muscular failure, the more dramatically your body will respond.

So, if you perform 10 sets per workout, and the last six seconds are the ones that mean success or failure, there you have that 60 seconds i’ve been talking about. That crucial 60 second will give you, or not, the muscular growth youre looking for.

Then, your succes in the bodybuilding process is measured by the short moments at the end of every single set you perform in the gym.

It really is true; your bodybuilding success is literally measured by the short, precise moments at the very end of each set and the amount of effort you are willing to exert during this time.

You have to train really hard and with full effort every single day. When your muscles aches and you can feel they’re burning, if you feel the weight really heavy, that’s the right moment to give your maximun effort until true muscular failure is reached.

If you can’t move the weight another inch, if your muscles ache and you feel them burning, you are going in the right direction to true muscular failure.

Every time you give up and take a rest, even if it’s just for a couple of seconds, you compromise your gains. Keeping this in mind at all times in the gym and will give you the better results than ever before.

The secret to building muscle fast

May 20th, 2008 by Caleb Lee
by Caleb Lee

Is there really a secret to building muscle fast? Yes. And if you read this article right now, you’ll learn it and be able to apply it IMMEDIATELY so you can start getting the gains you want.

The truth is: this isn’t a “real” secret. It’s not like there’s nobody who knows about this information… but… there’s not a lot of people who actually APPLY it. So for that reason I call it a secret.

Are you ready to know what this secret is?

The key to building muscle is REST. Lots of people don’t realize that you build muscle when you’re resting — NOT while you’re in the gym working out!

In fact, if most bodybuilders (and weight lifters too) don’t realize they’re actually over-training because they’re putting too much emphasis on working out and not enough emphasis on recovering!

So what are some ways you can make sure you’re applying this secret?

1. Get 5-8 hours of sleep each night — no exceptions. Most athletes are sleep deprived because you need more sleep than the average person if you’re working out hard (like you should be doing!)

2. Eat A LOT — most people can’t gain lean muscle because they don’t eat enough. Especially if your’e a hard gainer you have to eat, eat, and eat some more. Definitely increase your intake of proteins (an easy way to do this is to drink at least one protein shake a day).

3. Stretch the muscles you last worked out. This will increase blood flow to the area ( which brings nutrients to the muscles — feeding them for growth) and will also help with any post- workout soreness and general recovery.

You may be asking yourself… “Can it really be that simple to build muscle?” Yes, it could be that simple for you.

So how do you know?

If you’ve found that you’re not getting the gains you once were … if you feel like you’ve “hit the wall”…or you feel like you’re always tired then there’s a chance you’re not getting enough rest. If that’s the case, then a little rest and relaxation might be all you need to starting building more muscle right away!

Will Sex Therapy Work For Couples When Other Modicums Fail?

May 20th, 2008 by Dr. Arlene Krieger, PhD
by Dr. Arlene Krieger, PhD

When or why might you need a sexologist and what to expect in sex therapy, and what sex therapists can accomplish in your life? Initially, it is important to understand that we as human beings don’t exist in a unilateral world. We are almost always in relationship with one or another persons. Whether it be work or personal life, there is a systemic flow to who you are and how you interact in the world around you. In your relationship the issues of sex, intimacy, love, career, health and life in general all add up your identities together.

In sex therapy we often important to break down these individual issues and isolate the actual sexual issues from the relationship factors. Although if is often difficult to separate the two, that’s exactly what your sex therapist attempts.Ton better understand sequences of behavior and patterns of interaction in your relationship, therapy helps you to gain clarity on who you are and what you expect from your partner. A loving relationship depends on a healthy sex life and vice versa.

Fixing a relationship doesn’t necessarily mean the sex life automatically becomes healthy, though it can at times. There is a method behind the madness of therapy and sex therapy. We do not perform magic, though at times it can seem so. It is work, and hard work on everyone’s part. The original therapeutic models for sex therapy go back more than three decades to the pioneering sexologists.

The couples who enter our offers run the gamut of issues and complaints from performance anxiety to lack of libido to erectile disorder to orgasm dysfunctions (and many, many others). Many simply have given up and feel there is no love left. Sometimes that is the problems, sometimes not. That is where a good sexologist can come in very handy.

Many sex therapists also handle a variety of alternative lifestyle sexual and relationship issues. A very important issue we handle daily is human communication regarding a couple’s personal relationship and sexuality. We often have to wear many hats.

Sexologists have devoted much time and research in order to gain an understanding of human sexuality and human behaviors. The training and coursework is very specific to sexuality issues. In choosing a therapist of your choice, make sure that the clinician you choose, has received both a proper education, as well as clinical supervision from a university that offers a state qualified human sexuality graduate program.

Buying a Used Kayak

May 19th, 2008 by K.L. Amadio
by K.L. Amadio

Kayaking as a sport is increasing in popularity. The opportunity to get some healthy exercise in the beautiful outdoors is often too attractive to pass up. There are very few recreational sports that allow for a great upper body workout, so kayaking is on the rise.

Of all the recreational water sports, kayaking is really the most intimate. Just the water and you forming a relationship that can be spiritual or adversarial. Whichever the case, kayaking is undeniably more popular.

If the beauty of kayaking is already in your soul, you might be considering the purchase of a boat. There are some very expensive kayaks on the market. New equipment is the most expensive alternative. Did you know that a good used kayak can be bought at first-rate prices providing you with the quality that meets your needs and style.

First, determine what type of kayak you need. Kayaks come in five classifications based on intention of use: expedition styles, day touring and general recreation, whitewater and surf models. In each of these classifications you will see folding, inflatable and rigid kayak models.

A rigid kayak is usually made of fiberglass, plastic, wood or even Kevlar. Plastic kayaks are durable, less expensive and heavy. Wooden kayaks are often hand made from kits and can be beautiful but require regular maintenance. Fiberglass kayaks are the lightest and therefore most expensive. They are damaged more easily but are also easier to repair.

You must give some thought to your needs to determine which class of kayak you should be looking for. If you hand the boat on your own, you may want to look for the fiberglass versions. If storage and transportation are tight, you could consider the canvas folding style or inflatable model. If your kayak excursions are all day touring affairs, you must consider on board storage capacity to take necessary supplies.

Inspect the potential purchase carefully looking for any damage that would preclude it from consideration. Check for uneven patches and divots in the hull surface. fiberglass repairs can be covered with paint so check for surface paint discrepancies. A patched inflatable kayak should be considered carefully as these repairs can be tricky. Plastic boats while very durable are very hard to fix. You will want to avoid a plastic hull that looks unsound or repaired.

Don’t be afraid to look at the big name high quality used kayaks. You may find a real bargain that is well worth the investment. Unless you are planning to compete, race or learn some tricks, a used kayak can be a better investment than a new one.

There are a number of easy weight loss systems out there, just check online, but what you should remember is that you are the most important factor when choosing which weight loss system to use. Before you decide on how you want to lose weight, you should decide if it to be healthy, or is it to please someone else.

Many factors affect how well your weight loss program will go including how much physical activity you have during a normal day, the type of food you eat, how many meals you have and when those meals are eaten. Don’t be too ambitious and set yourself impossible tasks like losing 30 pounds in less than a month; this is not sensible because it can have a vast impact on the entire body bringing about other health problems like anemia or heartburn.

To lose a realistic pound in weight each and every week all you need to do is reduce your food intake or exercise enough to lose 500 calories each day. Although most people eat far too much junk food, there is nothing wrong with a little now and then, and no-one should have to give up every type of food they enjoy although some thought should be given to how much and how often it’s consumed.

Another more subtle factor is the emotional reaction to stress and problems as many people simply start eating when they feel insecure or depressed. Problems occur when medical conditions arise from overeating, like diabetes, which is on the increase, but we must not forget other diseases like cancer, heart conditions, stroke, and elevated blood pressure. Many weight loss treatments neglect the psychological factor, hence, very few are truly effective, but you have to go beyond planning and find the real cause of a metabolic imbalance.

Studies have shown that people who have started weight loss programs with a light-hearted determination are more likely to accomplish the looked-for results. The one thing that has shown to be true no matter what you do in life is that being positive about something is more likely to make it happen. The great thing about weight loss is the extra energy you feel and how much more positive your outlook is to life in general, which obviously has an impact on your self-esteem as well.

Losing weight is a combination of your mental attitude and a change in your lifestyle habits by reducing the amount of food you eat. There are also other factors of weight loss that most self-proclaimed easy weight loss programs almost never address.

I have a program designed around one of the most important components of weight loss that is seldom even mentioned in most diet plans and yet without it, your weight loss efforts are like pushing a boulder up a hill. My Weight Loss Breeze program really can put the ‘easy’ back into easy weight loss.

Warm regards,

Christian Goodman

How to Shed Unwanted Fat Fast

May 19th, 2008 by Anne Woodland
by Anne Woodland

Whatever rapid weight loss program you are on you will find that many of the things you currently do in a week will have to change if it is to be successful. If you truly want to lose weight then you will require a determination level that you may not have previously exhibited and a desire to change all those bad habits that have created this situation. There are a number of things that can affect your weight loss; some are shown below:

* Obesity or weight problems that may run in the family * Past or present psychological issues * Desire to lose weight

Excess weight can cause many health issues, including those of self image and worth. Whilst the health risks are reduced when a person starts to lose weight, it is the self-confidence and self-esteem returning that is the most noticeable. This is the reason why so many people want rapid weight loss systems, so they can start seeing results quickly but they also need support from family and friends; a good nutritious low-fat diet program and regular exercise will also be necessary too. Your chosen diet plan must be fairly flexible so it will suit your tastes but this should not be relied upon to do all the work for you; exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming etc. should be part of this regime.

Not all fast weight loss plans will work with everyone and those that do work will produce different results for everyone that uses them; we are all unique and cannot expect to lose weight at the same rate. The flexibility required for the diet plan might also be required for the exercise program as well to increase the difficulty level if the weight isn’t being lost as quickly as expected. Listen as the body speaks because each and everyone’s body metabolism reacts differently to the various fast weight loss programs so try substituting one program for another to compensate for the body’s reaction.

You would be wise to choose an exercise method that suits your physical abilities so if all you are able to do is walk then that is fine; this is proven to be the best exercise and as muscles burn more calories than fat it’s also best to put on a little muscle which will make you look good too. Many people who are dieting forget the importance of staying hydrated; drink plenty of water on your rapid weight loss program, at least six large glasses per day and don’t forget it also flushes out toxins from the body. Even though white meat and fish are generally good for you, they can contain more fat than is desirable so stay clear of deep fried foods in general as they are full of fat that is damaging to your system.

It is recommended for those on a strict diet to opt for grilled food as this contains a smaller amount of fat after the food has been cooked. It is not a good idea to cut out carbohydrates altogether as they are the fuel your body needs to keep going. By sticking to this type of plan you can expect to lose around a pound in weight per day but bear in mind that once you stop, the weight will go back on again.

Skin Care : Are Adeva Skin Care Products Effective?

May 19th, 2008 by Raymond Lam
by Ray Lam

What cosmetics do you use? I’m talking to all the men and women out there. You men know that you use some kind of skin care regimes. Regardless of how manly you thought you were, I’ll bet you pull out the fancy aftershave or moisturizer with SPF 15 once in a while. This is not a awful thing. Heck, I think all human beings ought to spend a little more time on themselves and a tad less on their vehicle. If you take a look around, you’ll notice that a lot of men look rough and old, while their cars look amazing. Well, it’s time to make some changes. The fact is women don’t like sun-damaged, overweight, balding men. Why would they when they can clearly spot other, more appealing fish in the sea? Therefore as women groom daily with fine cosmetics, men should follow the example. One of the high quality lines you can purchase is aveda skin care. This works well for men and women alike.

Know anything regarding aveda skin care? One thing I can say to you for certain concerning this product line is that it smells phenomenal. Just step in their store and take a whiff of all they have to offer. Your mind will be set at ease from the comforting and relaxing aroma. With aveda skin care you get the benefits of plant extracts and natural ingredients. These components work wonders on your tired, over-stressed complexion. Just imagine how much abuse your delicate mug takes on a daily basis. Since your skin is often faced with such harsh elements, don’t you thing you should break out an arsenal of quality aveda skin care products to help revive it? So many people thing your skin’s condition has solely to do with what you consume. This is a misconception to say the least. Most of it actually has to do with the daily elements we typically encounter, such as sunlight, cold winds, moisture, heat and much more.

About five years ago, I came across an Aveda store for the first time when I was doing some random shopping with my wife. My wife and I began to browse and check out all the fine Aveda cosmetics and skin care lines at the store. The first thing I noticed at the store was their sales pitch. According to the sales person their products are made with natural botanicals and plant extracts.

Aveda skincare products are available for all skin types, and do contain a complete anti-aging treatment selection. The are available in simple, clean packaging, and the line contains three ‘featured’ collections that target specific skin conditions. The Botanical Kinetics collection offers refreshing, aromatic formulas to soothe, hydrate, and balance the skin. The Tourmaline collection is designed to recharge and refresh dull or tired skin, while the Outer Peace collections designed to calm and soothe irritated or inflamed skin.

Ask for a sample! When is doubt, you can always ask to sample something. Let one of the store employees know that you’re interested, but would prefer to try Aveda cosmetics before purchasing them. To be frank, these aren’t drugstore cosmetics, folks. Therefore they do cost a bit more than Neutrogena. But, the Aveda quality is worth the price.

Skin Care : Key Ingredients in Skin Care Products

May 19th, 2008 by Ray Lam
by Ray Lam

There is a lot a person has to think about when they are buying products to care for the skin. I went last week to find something for my husband, as he had been having problems with dry skin on his face. I stood there for almost a half an hour and still had no idea what I should buy, even though I do know a little about these products. I would guess that I am not the only one who has had this problem. Even worse, I know a little about the skin care ingredients that should be in a product and what can be done without. This did not make my choice any easier.

There are many claims made about what skin care products can do, and some of them are not true. Though collagen is indeed the key to healthy and smooth skin, you can’t get this by applying it to the surface of the skin. If one of the skin care ingredients listed is collagen, that’s all well and good, but it is not going to do much good. Collagen must come from within the body or it’s not going to benefit the skin. Many claim that this helps but you can’t get the benefits from a topical lotion.

Matrixyl – Matrixyl also known as palmitoyl pentapeptide-3 is a peptide that is used in products for its skin repairing and wound healing properties. Matrixyl is the main active ingredient in Strivectin, which was initially marketed as a stretch mark reducer, but later discovered as an effective product for wrinkles and fine lines.

Zinc is a mineral, and one of the most important components of skin that is healthy. Acne may be a result of a zinc deficiency in the body. Zinc also controls the skins production of oil and can control hormones that bring about acne. Many health care products contain zinc, as it is very beneficial to the health of the skin.

In conclusion, before buying any skin care product, do check the label and identify some key ingredients that should be found in most products. Knowing that these ingredients are used, at least you can be rest assured that they are all beneficial to your skin. Also, by knowing these key ingredients, you can compare products and make sure your money is well spent on a good skin care product.

Don’t Murder Your Muscle Gains

May 19th, 2008 by Ricardo Daryans
by Ricardo Daryans

Some guy in the gym finishes a hard set of barbell squats and re-racks the weight. He feels realy tired and he takes a big swig from his water bottle. He looks down at his watch and presses the start button to begin counting down backwards from 2 minutes.

He read that 2 minutes is the ideal rest time between sets in the gym, and he wants to get it exact. Once that watch beeps at the 2 minute mark, he’ll be back in the squat rack to perform another set. He stands up tall and paces around trying to catch his breath in preparation for his next battle with the weights.

2 minutes is up. His legs still feel weak, his heart still beats frantically and he doesn’t quite feel 100%, but that watch beeped and that means his time is up. He must perform his next set regardless of how he feels.

He unracks the weight and squats down. His legs still burn and he wishes that he could have had more time to prepare for this set. He puts forth a mediocre effort, re-racks the bar, and sets his watch for another 2 minutes. Bobby, just like a ton of other aspiring lifters in the gym, is making a deadly, critical mistake.

The only thing he is doing is to force his body to train at an effort level really far for his maximum potential, and his muscles are rarely being stimulated to grow.

Muscles grow because of an adaptive response to stress. You lift X amount of weight for Y number of reps, and your body adapts to this level of stress. In order to see continual gains in muscle size, you must continually force X and Y to higher and higher levels.

In other words, building muscle is all about progression in both weight and reps. It is about lifting as much weight as you possibly can for the greatest number of reps that you possibly can (within a given rep range of course) and then continually striving to improve.

If you don’t rest enough between sets, you will not reach your maximum strenght potential sacrificing the amount of weight you can lift, and also sacrificing the amount of muscle you can build. So, to begin the next set qhen you are still tired is the big mistake you should not make.

A watch will never tell you when you are ready to begin the next set. Instead of it, listen to your body and you will know when to follow your training.

A deadlift and a tricep pressdown aren’t exactly in the same boat here. After a heavy set of deadlifts to failure I’ll usually be resting for at least 5 minutes, often even more. A set of tricep pressdowns is obviously not as taxing and may only require a rest period of 2.5 minutes for me to feel fully recovered.

Teen weight loss programs to look for are those that promote the reduction of fat both in the diet and that contained in the body which also happens to be the key to long term weight control. Many children become worried if their parents show too much concern as they have not noticed that they have been getting steadily heavier over a period of time but the situation cannot be rectified overnight either. The first thing to do is speak to a professional who specializes in teen weight loss and carry out some research on your own; The first thing to do is speak to a professional who specializes in teen weight loss and carry out some research on your own.

Bear in mind that some teen weight loss plans available border on the dangerous and can have unhealthy side effects. Starvation type diets may reduce weight but they can also seriously reduce body tissue, such as muscle, that is essential for the wellbeing of the child. So the purpose is reduce the body fat and information on this subject is considerable but if the teen can achieve this, a long term healthy weight balance is more likely.

Home Loan Points

May 18th, 2008 by Ethan Hunter
by Ethan Hunter

Many people don’t know anything about home loan points, even those that may own a home. They just are not sure of what home loan points are. Having less home loan points can help you with many different things so that you will end up paying less on your mortgage.

So, what are home loan points – and how can they benefit you, the potential home owner?

Home Loan Points 101

It is actually quite easy to understand home loan points. In a nutshell, these points help you get a lower interest rate when it comes time for you to purchase a new home.

Home loan points are basically 1% of your loan – so, if you’re taking out a loan of 100,000, one point would be about $1,000. Many times, you can buy these home loan points, and lower your interest rate.

One thing people want to know is if home loan points are worth the fuss, making a real difference or are they more hype than anything else.

These questions are all good ones that you can’t find answers to very easily.

First, if you want to know if home loan points are actually worth it.

In other words, you might want to know if you can afford spending more money for the points and if you do, will you expect to get something out of it in the end and without a lot of hassle.

The answer to this is that it depends on your situation. In addition, the answer would be based on the type of mortgage loan, as well as the bank or lending institution being used. More importantly, you need to determine if you have extra funds to buy points and if so, what would the overall savings be.

If you’re going to be saving more than $40 a month, and you have the extra money to put down on points, you should seriously take your home loan points into mind. The savings can greatly outweigh the disadvantages, and upfront payments.

Why are these home loan points there anyway?

Well, remember that in addition to helping you with paying a long mortgage loan, they also provide you with many opportunities. For example, you would have the chance to pay more now while securing a lower interest rate. However, even if you find you do not have extra funds, you can still secure a good loan.

Additionally, while you enjoy many benefits so does the loan company. The reason is that they get the money you pay upfront for the home loan points, which is why they are in business in the first place – to make money. Typically, these companies make the points an optional thing.

The Bottom Line Is

These home loan points can help you but your don’t have to have them. It’s up to you and your money situation. Be wise and careful.

The Danger of Scuba Diving

May 18th, 2008 by Paul De Vizard
by Paul De Vizard

Scuba diving is a beautiful experience, which allows people to view a whole different world. We enter an unknown world in which the danger of scuba diving has been taken into account. The dangers all into two group: those in the ocean itself and that of the individual.

Firstly the skills

This is where you learn the skills to avoid you getting into a potentially dangerous position from you lack of knowledge. There are so many things that the beginner diver needs to remember and understand.

This is the main reason, for a comprehensive scuba diving course. This is required because there are lessons, which you need to know and understand before even going near the ocean. This is the main danger of scuba diving, is the individual forgetting something or taking the lessons for granted.

The Buddy System

In all the parts of the training, the buddy system is taught to reduce any danger. This is the system of always diving with a partner, and that you can see each other at all times during any dive. This is taught firstly in a safe environment, like a swimming pool, before going out into the ocean. It is advisable to have a partner who is a more experienced diver with a new diver, or someone not so confident.

The Advantage of Knowledge

The reason for learning skills, prior to getting into the ocean has 2 effects. The first one is the ability to know what to do in a situation. The second one is to have the confidence to carry out the actions with out panic. Panic is a danger that will take away the taught skills as it is an emotional response, which can override the logic.

Other Dangers of Scuba Diving

The other dangers of scuba diving are in the marine life. Having some knowledge of the marine life of the area you are diving in, can make you aware of the risks. This means you can avoid animals which may become aggressive when approached. Also you need to know the poisons or sharp teeth that could be a problem in this world, which is new to you.

The Currents As a first time diver, you are likely to be in awe of the strange new world you are seeing for the first time. While viewing the bottom of the ocean, you need to keep in mind that the currents are moving you while you are on the bottom. This can be dangerous because you may have a difficult time swimming against the current to get back to where you started from.

Listen carefully to the instructor during the lessons to be able to keep yourself safe when in the open waters. The many dangers of scuba diving are real and knowing what to expect and how to deal with it can keep you safe.

Get Weight Loss Results Faster with Heart Rate Training

May 18th, 2008 by Torii Tompson
by Torii Tompson

If you want to get an effective workout and reach your fitness goals sooner, you should consider heart rate training. Heart rate training is the process of monitoring your heart’s rate during your fitness routine and then actively raising and lowering it through the duration of your workout. Studies show that individuals who are heart rate training lose weight and reach their fitness goals sooner than people who are doing regular forms of exercise.

To begin heart rate training you must first find out your maximum heart rate. After you learn your maximum heart rate, you will take that number and base all of the heart rate zones around it. But, before you find out what your maximum heart rate is and do the calculations, you should judge what fitness level you are at:

Poor Shape: You have not exercised for a couple of months. Fair Shape: You exercise about three times a week-either walking or a form of aerobic activity. Good Shape: Your body is used to exercise because you run at least five miles a week or exercise most days.

Once you have chosen your level of fitness, the following test can help you learn the vicinity of your maximum heart rate.

Walk One Mile: Walk a mile at an even pace either on a treadmill or at a track. When you are nearing the end of your mile, or in the last quarter of your mile, take your heart rate. Add 40 to this number if you listed yourself in poor shape; add 50 to this number if you listed yourself in fair shape, and add 60 to this number if you listed yourself in good shape.

After you have done your adding, this number will be your maximum heart rate target zone and you can start planning out your heart rate training routine based off of it. Heart rate training is easiest when you use exercise equipment, such as a treadmill, that is equipped with a heart rate monitor. The monitor will act as your trainer letting you know what heart rate zone you are throughout your workout. Using monitors saves time and lets you stay focused on your workout-instead of trying to do the monitoring manually and doing the calculations in your head. All you have to do is look at the heart rate monitor and you will know when to intensify your workout, back it down, or continue your pace, depending on your routine.

Your Individual Heart Rate Training Zones

Unlike other forms of exercise a heart rate training workout should only last between 20-30 minutes. During the workout you should move in and out of your heart rate zones.

Healthy Heart Zone: You feel comfortable and your heart rate is at 50%-60% of your maximum heart rate.

Fitness Zone: In this zone your heart rate is 60%-70% of your maximum heart rate and you may have trouble talking, unless it is in short sentences.

Aerobic Zone: In this zone your heart rate is 70%-80% of your maximum heart rate and you should only be able to speak in phrases.

Anaerobic Zone: In this zone your heart rate is 80%-90% of your maximum heart rate and you should only be able to gasp out a word here and there because you will be breathing heavily.

Red Line Zone: In this zone you are at, or near, your maximum heart rate and breathing will be nearly impossible.

If you are looking for a workout routine that will help you lose weight, or reach your exercise goals sooner, consider heart rate training. To make your workout as efficient as possible, workout on a treadmill or other exercise machine, that has a heart rate monitor. Don’t waste your time trying to judge and calculate your heart rate yourself. Let the machines do the monitoring so you can focus your time on your heart rate zones.

Complexities Of Water Filters Explained

May 18th, 2008 by Chris Channing
by Chris Channing

Water filters are used to separate impurities from water. This process can be done by using physical barriers, different chemical processes, or biological means. Filters are necessary for drinking, irrigation, and swimming pools.

There are many different ways to filter water. You can use media filters, which employ sand to filter water as it travels from underground to the surface. Screen filters, which utilize a thin screen that separates fine particles out of water for irrigation and other uses. Disk Filters are generally the main form of filtration for irrigation. This process is much like using a screen filters, but instead of a screen a small disks are used. The disks are stacked on top of each other separating the water from its impurities.

Slow sand filters are used to treat raw water found on the surface of the earth. They are usually between one and two meters deep. This system uses a layer of earth called the Schmutzdecke layer which contains bacteria and fungi. This layer purifies the water leaving exceptionally clean water at the top.

Rapid sand filters or rapid gravity filters are filters usually used in municipal water treatment facilities. This treatment system uses coarse sands that remove the particles that have been trapped in flocks by salts of aluminum or iron. The simplest filter is the cloth filter, but it is also the least effective. This process is done by taking a folded cloth and placing it in a container, then putting it into the unfiltered water. You then lift the cloth out of the container and the water filtered water will fall into the container.

Filtration has several more complex forms that do not employ physical screens in order to filter the impurities out of water. Using ultra violet rays, water can be purified very effectively. Exposing water to the rays will remove any virus and bacteria that would have previously been in the water. Raw water is normally put through this process but drinking water has more recently been filtered in this way. A drinking water disinfection facility has already been approved for construction in New York that will use ultra violet rays. The facility should be able to produce up to two billion gallons of drinking water on a daily basis.

Reverse osmosis is a process that applies pressure to a membrane in order to force water through, trapping the solvent. Most of the separation occurs within the outer layer of the membrane called the polymer matrix. This filtration process requires a great amount of pressure to be put upon the membrane. The membrane is known as a semi permeable, which means the membrane only allows a solute to pass through trapping the solvent.

In order to purify the air around us catalytic converters are now being placed on automobiles in order to lower their pollution emissions. The device cleans the gases that are expelled from the vehicle while driving.

Water filtration is one of the most beneficial ideas the human race has proposed. Early forms of water filters allowed man to live in some of the harshest climates on earth. There will never be a time when water filters are not necessary for our survival.

Eczema : Causes and Remedies for Babies With Eczema

May 17th, 2008 by Ray Lam
by Ray Lam

Even with millions of sufferers worldwide, medical science has not yet discovered the reason why some people suffer with eczema and others do not. Typically, contact with some external allergen triggers an allergic reaction, leading to the typical skin symptoms and changes seen in sufferers. Baby eczema is a rash seen on their face which gradually gets worse unless treated, eventually becoming causing cracking and flaking. Anything up to one fifth of infants in the USA will suffer with this awful skin complaint.

With most babies, this skin complaint has all but cleared up by the time they are 24 months old. However, in a small number of cases, the condition doesn’t clear and becomes a chronic condition which may even carry on into adulthood. Although many believe the condition only starts in childhood, this is only partially true; it is just more common in babies and infants. Although statistics vary, almost all sufferers will have experienced bouts of this condition since their fifth birthday but almost one third before they were a year old.

The most common type in babies is atopic eczema and this type of baby eczema is characterized by itching, and red, scaly skin on the scalp, face, arms or legs. Atopic eczema often runs in families, and can be triggered when a baby’s skin isn’t moisturized properly. In some babies, wearing clothes that have been washed in certain detergents or treated with fabric softeners may trigger the condition. Some recent research has indicated that baby eczema may caused by babies that are weaned early so breastfeeding for a longer period be beneficial.

Other medical conditions, such as respiratory infections, may also act as triggers. It has also been found that if the baby’s mother has asthma, they are more prone to suffer with this condition but other contributing elements include food allergies and allergic rhinitis. The number of childhood cases where food is responsible for the condition is considerable at almost 30 percent; discovering the foodstuffs responsible should be a relatively simple matter, which once this is done, can be removed from the diet completely. Although the process of diagnosing which food is responsible is often a case of trial an error, there are some that are often found as the cause including:

*Sea-Food *Food containing milk *Foods containing wheat *Food prepared using eggs *Meals or foodstuffs where peanuts have been used in the preparation

Baby eczema is often the result of antibiotics given to the baby when it is born, as many doctors will attest. Infants, in particular babies with the condition need to be washed gently in lukewarm water using proprietary lubricating creams. Once they have dried, they need to be dressed in soft natural clothing made from cotton. A baby’s nails should be kept short or covered with mittens to prevent itchy skin from becoming further damaged or infected from excessive scratching. Unfortunately, baby eczema sometimes needs further help and in these cases, the doctor might prescribe the use of antihistamines to relieve the itching; steroid creams can also be used for a short period to help heal the skin. In babies, despite being very common, it is still a difficult condition to treat and conquer.
