How To Go From A Keg Belly To A Six Pack

The question is always asked “In order to lose my belly, what is the most efficient way?” Aerobics, strength training, cardio, or intervals?

It would be an understatement to say I have tried them all.

With over 15 years experience helping others, training myself, training for sports, spending countless hours in the gym, AND actually conducting laboratory research studies on different exercise methods, I’m pretty confident in knowing what works and what does not.

Time. Do you have it? For those of you who can’t spend 90 minutes per day exercising I want to talk to you.

That’s why there is a huge disconnect between some of the information found in magazines and the ability of the reader to apply it to their lives.

We just don’t have 6-8 hours per week for exercise, nor do we need it. If you’re a triathlete, you might need that, but not someone that just wants to lose fat and gain muscle.

Having said all that, the bottom line for getting a better body is…

Use bodyweight exercises to warm-up, strength training supersets to build muscle, and then finish your workout with interval training to burn fat in a short amount of time. I’ve structured my system so that you are in and out of the gym in 45 minutes, three times per week.

Warm up using 5 minutes of bodyweight exercise. This will be much more effective than walking on a treadmill. Walking on a tread mill will only get you ready to walk more on a treadmill.

The next 20 minutes are going to be spent with strength training supersets. Use two exercises back to back with minimum rest in the middle. For this you will use basic exrcises and depending on your goal for muscle building possibly add more bodyweight exercises.

Finally, 18 minutes of interval training. This will include a warm up, then determined by the client’s fitness level five or six short intervals while switching off with short periods of low intensity recovery.

Compare that to what most people do, which is run, jog, cycle or use the cardio machines for 45 minutes straight. Sure, that will burn calories, but it doesn’t build a better body.

The downside to long cardio includes injuries due to overuse of a muscle and it really is an inefficient way to exercise. If you only have 30-45 minutes to workout, when are you going to work the rest of your muscle groups and get that beautiful body you want if you are on 1 cardio machine for 45 minutes?

Perhaps it is emotional. When you are stressed, you do not eat all day. Then when you get bored, you raid the refrigerator.

If food is meeting an emotional need, perhaps it is time to examine your options. Find alternatives to eating. Perhaps you can take a brisk walk to clear your head during your lunch break. Invite your friends to play miniature golf on your birthday instead of having cake and ice cream. Have healthy snacks such as a bag of carrot sticks or an apple which you can grab when you are too busy to make time for yourself.

Try to manage hunger by eating several small meals a day. Remember that if you go hungry, you will make poor choices or you will tend to overeat.

Never fill yourself at mealtime. It is all right to leave food on your plate. You can also train your body to be satisfied at 60% capacity.

Be aware of what junk food can do to you, and get rid of them. Replace them with healthy choices such as whole-grain bread, fruits and vegetables.

It may sound corny, but try to do things to keep you focused on your goal. For instance, put a sign over your bed that says: The difference between fat and fit is I. Stick a sign on your dashboard that says: none of these foods taste as good as a size 8 (add a picture of a cheeseburger and fries).

Finally, if you overeat, do not fall off the wagon. Get back on track right away. Not tomorrow — today. Because tomorrow will never come.

New Investor In The UFC?

Current WWE executive, and Vice President Shane McMahon, who will leave the company at the beginning of January, is looking into the possibility of buying a financial interest within the UFC, and has cashed out $50 of his $80 million dollars in WWE stock to do so.

UFC President Dana White has always said that he would be willing to let someone take a ‘piece of the pie’ in his billion dollar empire, and while it may seem unorthodox, Shane McMahon would be the perfect partner. It is reported that Shane and the UFC President have already had meetings, and Shane was also present in the crowd at UFC 91.

It is well documented that UFC are now overtaking the WWE in PPV sales, but whereas WWE has had a 10 year head start on the UFC, Shane believes it will never reach the heights that it did in the early 1990′s, and the UFC’s merchandise sales are still suffering. This is where McMahon comes in.

He is well known for securing large international business deals, something the UFC has been trying to do for two years, and during the UFC Fight Club last week in Vegas, Dana White declined to discuss anything that was said in the meeting with McMahon, just citing him as “a good friend” and “you never know.”

I know what you are thinking “this sounds a bit weird with the WWE Shane McMahon buying into the UFC” but all in all this could be an excellent peace of business for the UFC. Shane McMachon has a wealth of business knowledge that can only enhance the UFC image worldwide. The only downside is when people think of Shane McMahon they think of the WWE which can’t be good for the UFC. As we all know WWE is completely unreal a bit like a pantomime with good and bad guys. The UFC however is the complete opposite! Will this have a negative effect on the UFC? I personally don’t think so! However if that thought comes to me then I’m sure it will come to other people.

Either way, without Shane McMahon the UFC will continue to grow its numbers worldwide!

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is a reality based TV program on Spike TV based on mixed martial artists (MMA) fighters trying to win the competition and winning a six figured contract with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

The show consists of a bunch of fighters, usually 16 plus fighters living under the roof with no contact with the outside for a few months. All they do is train and fight for the contract.

The fighters who win a contract at the end of the season receive a large sum of cash for winning plus a contract of approx guaranteed 4 fights afterward, which gives them the potential to make a lot of money. If they win these fights they tend to continue fighting for the UFC making a very good living.

The tenth season of the Ultimate Fighter (TUF) has just finished and the popularity of the show just keeps increasing in popularity. The UFC Ultimate Fighter looks as though it has no bounds, being that the latest season of the show has blown all previous ratings records clean out of the water.

As if the debut episode of the latest season of the show breaking all previous records and pulling in 4.1million viewers wasn’t enough, yesterday’s episode averaged 5.3 million viewers, peaking at a staggering 6.1million during the actual fight between Kimbo Slice and Roy Nelson.

When UFC president Dana White said that the fight between Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson and Roy “Big Country” Nelson was the biggest fight in TUF history, he wasn’t kidding. Only time will tell whether the show can go continue to grow and better itself once more.

This includes computers, television, video games and smart phones. These activities keep the brain active and require some “wind down” time after use and before bed.

Be aware of what you consume before bedtime. Avoid caffeinated drinks before bed. This includes coffee, sports drinks and soda. Even some teas have caffeine, so be sure to read the labels.
